  2. Hi, i bought a new LG TV (LG TV OLED65C7D). This TV is able to play as good as everything (h264,x265,wmv,divx,xvid) without the need of encoding anything. I managed to adjust the DLNA Profile LG SMART TV so that all content is now played without encoding. BUT... playing the same files via Emby LG Smart TV App the files are still being encoded altough thats not necessary :-/ Is there a config file analog to ...\config\dlna\user\LG Smart TV.xml that tells the app whether a file has to be encoded or not? Thx & greetz

    DLNA outside my home network

Hello, First of all thank you for all the answers I found on this forum ( permissions on ubuntu, creating users, KODI integration and much more .. ) I am trying to use the DLNA feature of the EMBY app on my android phone outside of my network. I want to watch my movie on my friends smart TV. When I am on my home network (same network as my EMBY server) I click on the cast button on my emby app, I can see my other DLNA devices and stream the content. But when I go to my friends house, connect to his WIFI , start the application, I click on the cast button and I see the DLNA devices of my house not the DLNA of my friend. What am I doing wrong ? Thank you for your help. Slim.
  4. Hello everybody. Recently I have moved my Emby server from local install on DietPi (Emby version was 4.2.0.40) to Docker (Emby version is 4.3.0.26 now). After this change, I cannot pause video, fast forward, rewind or continue watching. Before the switch to docker the functionality was present. I am using Samsung TV to open Emby over DLNA. Does anybody have an idea why this is happened and how to fix it? I have tried to run Emby in Docker with host network and with bridged network options. Result is the same. Thanks, Aleks.
  5. Hello, When I play videos over DLNA on my TV, library playback settings (see below screenshot), are ignored. And all videos appear in "Continue Watching" list, unless you watch it to the very end. This functionality works correctly, if you watch it in web browser on PC. Is there any logical explanation to this behavior? Emby server version is: 4.3.1.0 DLNA plugin version is: 1.0.33.0. Thanks, Aleksey.
  6. Hi Everyone, I'am new here. Couple days ago I was looking for PLEX alternative. I found Emby. The interface is awesome. But I'm faceing with some issues. 1. I couldn't find Offical LG Smart TV app for Emby. I found and read some topics here. I downloaded Java SDK, LG SDK CLI I installed some unoffical EMBY apps to my TV. None of them works properly. I use latest version of Server. The main problem is There is no TUTORIAL or GUIDE topic for LG Smart TV. Even doesn't have Category for LG Smart TV's on main forum. I disappointed about that. I have few questions: When I can see Offical Emby App for LG Smart TV? 2. I am facing with DLNA issues on LG TV. My ports 8096 and 8920 are open from outside. LG SmartShare can recognize Emby but when I try to open thru smartshare it says your connection is not stable. But PLEX DLNA is working without any issue. Currently, I can browse my library via Safari browser and I can choose PLAY TO feature and play video on LG TV. This is weird. LG SmartShare cannot play or browse Emby but I can use play to feature and SmartShare can play video. 3. Offical iOS app keep saying server is not available or something like that. I cannot achieve to connect Emby via iOS app. I have no idea what is the problem. I hope someone can help me.

    DLNA Howto

Is there a Howto that explains config of DLNA devices? I do have 4 Yamaha speakers (WX-010/030) on my network. Same network where emby server is located. I can ping the speakers and can also acess them through the web, but I don't see them in emby. Thanks for you help. Wolfgang

    DLNA and 401 http status

Hi. I trying to use dlna for emby, but I got errors in all devices. I see in logs the next exception: 2019-12-02 14:26:21.647 Error HttpServer: Access token is invalid or expired. I have 2 users: one with a password and one without it. But I can't log in user in dlna How I can disable authorization for dlna profile? I trying to set user without a password, but the same. 401 exception after reading file. Version emby: 4.3.0.30
  9. So, I am now a paid member of Emby! Got the LiveTV abd DVR working with my HD-HOMERUN tuner and a shiny antenna picking up three "Over The Air" channels, with a TV guide to boot! Love it! When we playback our recorded TV shows on the newer Samsung TV, the audio and video are badly out of sync. I searched the forum for this issue in DLNA but didn't find one. I'm guessing I need to tweak my transcoding profile for Samsung, so if someone can offer some advice that would be great. The same TV show will play fine on my PS3 via DLNA. A bit of system info: Emby Version 4.2.1.0 FreeBSD version 11.3-RELEASE-p3 Samsung - 1st gen Tizen OS I think it is. HD Homerun is not transcoding and file output is mpegts

Remote Control lost after a few seconds

Hi, I have recently installed Emby Server on my Windows 10 machine. Works fine except for remote playback on DLNA devices. - When I play an album on my device (app or browser), all goes well as far as I know. - When I play an album in a remote browser that is also connected to my server, all goes well as far as I know. - When I try to play an album on my Pioneer VSX-921 using DLNA, it starts fine with the first song but after a few seconds I loose my remote control and the playback device stops after the first song finishes. See attached logfile (search for VSX-921) - When I try to play an album on my Samsung Smart TV, it only plays the first song, doesn't know about the rest of the playlist and doesn't accept previous and next requests. Pauze and volume work fine but again, playback stops after the first song finishes as the tv doesn't know about the rest of the songs. See attached logfile (search for UE40D5700) I don't have these issues using other DLNA players (tried several from google play store over the past years) so I suppose it could work. To me this is a very important feature and one of the reasons I paid for premiere so I hope you can help me out. Kind regards, Frederik server-63651585854.txt

Sonos Connect no more listed in Play To

Hello, I do not know if this issue occurs since Emby Server v3.0.5882 but it is a recent one (it worked correctly with v3.0.5870) : my Sonos Connect is no more displayed in the Play To drop list. It is still discovered from the Win10 built-in feature and I can still play music directly from Windows Explorer, so it is not an issue from the network layer (including the firewall) nor from the audio gateway, also nor from my ADSL box. Could you please help me (and all those how are having this problem) ? Many thanks by advanced. B.R. Eric D. J.
  15. Just like the title and my question recently, having this option would be great from a privacy standpoint. You can see this feature in the basic Synology Media server where you can specify witch devices are allowed to view your DLNA server. Hope you guys want it too Thanks!
  16. Hello, If someone is kind, is there a way to prevent/limit devices (eg:windows laptop) that can discover/browse Emby server library? (without disabling DLNA that I use on the TV) Synology Media Server (in it's 3options:) has the ability to limit discovery to just one device. (or if you have any other solutions) Much appreciated, Thank you!
  17. Another reason to have an actual folder view : I have just installed emby on a FreeNAS and all was going well until I played a movie on my Samsung ua82nu8000 via dlna. Because all my movies now show up as if they're all in 1 folder instead of their own individual folders my TV starts playing the next movie as soon a 1 finishes, then the next, then the next. There's no way to turn this behaviour off on the TV... Do I have any options via emby dlna? Installing the TV app is NOT happening as all I want is a list of folders/files, no meta, no posters, just a simple list of folders with individual movie files in each.

    Next episode not playing

Hi there, I'm experiencing some issues when watching a series on my LG BluRay-Player via DLNA. It often happens that playback of the next episode doesn't start. I nearly always have to start the first next episode manually on my Android tablet. All following epsiodes (second, third,...) will then start playback automatically. Watching series on that tablet or on my PC via browser works fine with automatic playback of the next episodes. I couldn't find a particular log to provide but I will share as much information as needed. Emby Server 4.2.0.40 on Ubuntu Server 18.04.2 LTS Emby for Android 3.0.68 LG BP620 BluRay-Player All connected via 1Gbits Ethernet Thanks for help :-)

    bind on multiple interfaces

Hi, can emby listening on multiple interfaces or on 0.0.0.0 ? I have at home 2 vlans, and I want to setup emby to be accessible from TV over DLNA from both networks. There is no problem access it over HTTP, but I want connect from smart TVs. I didn't find such a feature or option where I can set IP address. Thank You.

    DLNA ports

Hello, I'm trying to run Emby server behind a firewall. I've already opened port 8096 for the web UI and 1900 for SSDP. Now Emby finds my DLNA-enabled devices. But my Xbox 360 displays a black screen when attempting to play back a video through DLNA with the firewall enabled. If I disable the firewall on the server, playback is fine. I want to keep the firewall enabled on this server. I could not find the ports used by Emby for DLNA, does someone know ? Thanks

mkv files and some mp4 files seen as mpg

put together a new freenas (11.2)...installed emby...and, everyting is working fine except for majority (approx. 98%) of my mkv files being seen and played back as mpg files. along with the mkv files, not all, but some of my mp4 files are being treated/seen as mpg files. now playing videos via the webapp is fine, and it's not my concern. however, playing thru DLNA is a different story. any ideas as what i can do to alleviate this issue. i mean, i had it on my old build, too, but never really tried to solve this problem. now, i need to because the samsung emby is giving me an error (this will be another post so i'm not gonna focus it on here). i have an anime file: [FFF] Hagure Yuusha no Estetica - 01 [bD][1080p-FLAC][73F7748E].mkv. when i look and play this file on my samsung tv, it sees it as an mpg file; and, i assume, emby transcode it as such to the tv. any help and reply is greatly appreciated. thank you!
  22. Hi, Again after update Im having issues with my Panasonic TV with AVI files. For some time it was fine, I played with profiles a little and was able to fix it that in the end I was able to run most of my videos (mainly MKV and AVI). Though I was able to run subtitles only embedded directly to MKV file which was fine. Im not sure which build changed that but Im again without AVI support. I checked profiles and it looks that they changed so probably my previous setting is not working. So I would like help and also help the others to test what we can do to create perfect profile for Panasonic. What I tried to this point to make AVI works: Changed Direct play container ts, mpegts, avi, mpeg to use mkv and ac3 codecs Changed Direct play container ts, mpegts, avi, mpeg to use mpeg4 and mp3 codecs removed direct play and added transcoding ts, mpegts, avi, mpeg to use mkv and ac3 codecs ts, mpegts, avi, mpeg to use mpeg4 and mp3 codecs enhanced Max streaming quality to 500000000 The answer for question why I changed these things to that is that I used what previously worked for me (MKV) and what I found here from other users. Thats why I for example don't use subtitle burn because it never worked for me but Im willing to try it again. I know that logs would be useful but right now I don't want to spam topic with all logs for all variants I tried. I would like to start with what is the correct approach first and will send you logs when it is not working.
  23. Hi All, I'm new to Emby Server and am running a test/evaluation before migrating all my server media over to a new platform. The crux of the issue is I have Emby v4.0.2.0 installed and running fine and can access the media via DLNA from an oldish Sony TV across a cabled local network but am unable to access it from the Humax Device. Background: I have a Humax PVR-5000T (IP: 10.10.10.103) which can access a copy of my test media on a Server (Win 7 x64, IP: 10.10.10.10) via DLNA through WMP12 Windows Media Player Sharing Service and play an MP3 successfully. The Humax can detect the Emby Server via DLNA running on the same physical box as it appears in the list on the Humax above the WMP Server but when accessed, the Humax does not find any media or see any folders. At the same time, I can see both DLNA servers present and correctly functioning when browsed from the Sony TV (10.10.10.102). My test files are MP3's to eliminate format/container issues as WMP12, Sony TV & Humax can all normally see and play MP3's. I intend to play all files in their native format with no Transcoding or Direct Play needed. Testing: I have researched a bit and implemented DLNA Profiles as the default profile does not work for the Humax and enabled Debug Logging. From the logs I can see that I have successfully been able to differentiate the 3 devices that may access Emby via DLNA using the "FriendlyName" & "HttpHeaderInfo" strings in individual DLNA User Profiles. For the Sony TV I simply copied one of the Sony Bravia System Profiles and it basically works with the only issue being that not all the MP3's album art is showing despite it being present inside the MP3's and a folder.jpg present in the same windows folder. However, the Sony TV can see all the test media, browse it and play it. For the Humax, I have tried copying every single one of the System Profiles in case one would work as it is obviously ok with WMP12 as a DLNA server and many of the System Profiles appear to emulate that in some way. None of them worked. The error message on the Humax doesn't change but it is a quite generic "No media found". Each time the logs show it was identified correctly via the HTTP Header User-Agent value of "Posix" and the logs show the response as "200" but nothing is displayed. Each time I change a DLNA Profile, I have restarted the Emby Server Application as it isn't picked up until then. I have uploaded the bit of the log where the Humax interacts with Emby and that's all there is each time (Emby Log.txt). For the WMP12 Client accessing via DLNA, it again has its own User Profile and is picked up correctly in the logs. It can see and browse all the media and folders ok but interestingly all the MP3's have a small blue "i" icon stating that they are an unrecognised file type and won't play them. An example of the "File Location" of an MP3 viewed from WMP is: http://10.10.10.10:8096/audio/201/stream?DeviceProfileId=9c183db3e31f2f6e2be46c6b25825a8a&DeviceId=743b37ee3c0b67f258d356b6974a9dba&MediaSourceId=5d3a856ecb1fe6089beb85595d428999&WMContentFeatures=DLNA.ORG_OP=10;DLNA.ORG_CI=1;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01D00000000000000000000000000000&WMHME=1&WMQ=1&WMHMETitle=TgBvAHQAIABXAGgAZQByAGUAIABJAHQAJwBzACAAQQB0AA== I guess this is why it doesn't recognise the MP3's in WMP so I wonder if this is also occurring with the Humax and maybe why it doesn't find any media? I am stuck as to how to investigate further so am hoping one of you will be able to assist me? I have also attached the 3 User Profiles xml files in case they are of use. Many thanks, Nick Emby Log.txt Bravia KDL-46X4500.xml Humax FVP-5000T.xml WMP 12.0.xml
  24. Hi Luke, I've updated to 4.0.1 on Linux and I recently discovered that BubbleUpnp doesn't find the Folders entry anymore. The same goes for another dlna app. I do see it in the Emby webplayer. Any ideas? Cheers, Joost

    DLNA on panasonic

Are there any instructions on how to setup a dlna profile? I looked on the help page but it says coming soon 2015. I thought it would be nice to get emby working on the bedroom (in case we are ill etc), the television is an 8 year old Panasonic TX-P50VT20B. It shows the thumbnails at the side of the video but when I try to play them it just goes into large coloured static squares with no sound. I did wonder if it was too old to play the videos so I installed Synology Media Server to try, at first the panasonic just said un-playable on all the videos. I then went into the settings and just tick all the boxes to transcode everything and they all seem to work and play -- BUT I would like to use them through emby as the media server only shows actual folders whereas Emby shows tv shows, collections, movies along with played, unplayed etc which is way,way better. So, I know it can be done, I just don't know what to do in Emby profiles to get it to work. I am also unclear as to whether it should be the Panasonic vierra profile or the general profile as when I connect to it nothing shows on the dashboard to say it has connected or playing - not sure if it should or not? One thing I should say, is that in media server the format shows as "VIDEO" when you select one where in Emby it shows as "MPEG2-TS", which according to the panasonic manual it should be able to play?! but doesn't! Thanks
