  1. I'm using - Emby Server 3.0.5641.4 on Server/PC used as play to device - Emby Theater 3.0.5651.20234 on Laptop/PC used as remote control - Windows 8.1 - Gigabit LAN (working, I use Input Director to controller my PC's using one Notebook/Laptop. Problem Emby Theater is not showing up as 'play to' DLNA device on Emby Server ( WMP is still working and showing up as DLNA device) This stopped working afther I forget to start the server before starting Theater. Theater asked to confirm a PIN. Me, not paying anough attention, just did what it told me to do. Afther de PIN stuff I notices the server wasn't running. I all ready tried - restarting Emby Theater and Server Any try this or that suggestion is welcome! EDIT: Allright, Emby Theater is not a 'DLNA play to device'! That was a wrong assumtion. Also, note, I'am using Emby now for 1 month before that I used the Media Browser version that exepted movies.xml and series.xml. Not sure what was the problem but it kept me from upgrading for 5+ years. Im thinking of going back - I don't like the bling bling of Emby and a lot of input methodes aren't accepted anymore. Like; Typing 'M' to go to the first Title with a 'M' or scrolling to go trow the list in front of you.. etc. I gues I need more time to get used to the 'new way'.

    DLNA profile order

    Hi, I have 2 vlans with same smart TV (LG WebOS) on each vlan. I want to limit access to library for 1st TV in 1st vlan, and allow full access for 2nd TV in 2nd vlan. Because, they are almost equals models (700/730) I can't filter it by User-Agent. I have cloned profile, but changed names, so I have 2 profiles, and in each profile I have selected different user. 1. Can I (how to) filter by device IP ? I have tried this in identification section, but it does not work <Identification> <FriendlyName>LG Smart+ TV</FriendlyName> <ModelNumber>1.0</ModelNumber> <SerialNumber /> <ModelName>LG TV</ModelName> <DeviceDescription /> <ModelUrl>http://www.lge.com/</ModelUrl> <Manufacturer>LG Electronics.</Manufacturer> <ManufacturerUrl>http://www.lge.com</ManufacturerUrl> <Ip>192.168.2.8</Ip> <Headers> <HttpHeaderInfo name="User-Agent" value="LGE WebOS TV LGE_DLNA_SDK" match="Substring" /> </Headers> </Identification> 2. I have tried identify by host server IP (because emby runs on multiple interfaces, host is different for each vlan) <Identification> <FriendlyName>LG Smart+ TV</FriendlyName> <ModelNumber>1.0</ModelNumber> <SerialNumber /> <ModelName>LG TV</ModelName> <DeviceDescription /> <ModelUrl>http://www.lge.com/</ModelUrl> <Manufacturer>LG Electronics.</Manufacturer> <ManufacturerUrl>http://www.lge.com</ManufacturerUrl> <Headers> <HttpHeaderInfo name="User-Agent" value="LGE WebOS TV LGE_DLNA_SDK" match="Substring" /> <HttpHeaderInfo name="Host" value="192.168.2.5" match="Substring" /> </Headers> </Identification> 3. is there any other way how to unique identify TVs ? I'm running latest dev version 3.0.5725.41620. Thank You

    DLNA display of latest

Is there any way to change the default behavior via DLNA to show the episode image and name in the Latest section. This is very confusing as you have no idea what show it is. Is there any plugin I can use to change the image to the show image or to have the show name appear anywhere for easy identification. Thank in advance.
  4. I have a problem getting DLNA working on a FreeBSD 10 system which appears to be down to the way the system's interface is selected. So, the server has two physical interfaces, em0 and em1. em0 itself has no IP configured, but there are three VLAN interfaces connected to various internal networks (10.0.x.0/24). em1 has a public IP address and is connected to the Internet. Default gateway of course points out of em1 As it is, emby operates fine with internal clients, web interface, WMC client, etc. as it listens on *:* for connections. (The public interface is firewalled off so no issues there). However, it seems that emby insists on using em1 (public) for UPnP listening/discovery - DLNA clients polling on the internal network will not work. If I remove the configuration from em1 before starting the emby service, emby then appears to use the next interface (alphabetically?) which luckily is the network with my internal clients. There must be some way to configure emby to bind to a specific interface for UPnP short of disabling all others before restarting it??? Thanks, Richard
  5. Hi, I have LG TV LB700 with fully working dlna and streaming. Sometimes some files are streamed and some transcoded. I know why are they transcoded, because TV does not support that codec, but on this examples is codec same, and some files are streamed and some transcoded. this example is from TV Show Cosmos. Episode 101 is streamed with preferred language CZE (which is ok) Episode 102 is streamed with language ENG even if CZE audio track is default and forced Episode 103 is streamed with language ENG even if CZE audio track is default and forced Episode 104 is transcoded with language CZE even if codec is same as in previous episodes. can someone explain me what is wrong, and how to force CZE language to stream/transocode ? Attaching mkvinfo and nfo files in zip archive. straming-transcoding.zip Thank You

DLNA via Server across IP subnets

Hi all! Apologies if this has been answered, which means my search skills suck... I'm wondering if I can use the play-to feature to specify a DLNA device on another IP subnet? Basically, I've got my emby server (latest version for windows) on a 10.1.1.0/24 subnet. I have a VPN tunnel set up to my sister's house, with everything on a 10.1.2.0/24 subnet there. Is there a way in the web GUI or config files to manually add an option to play-to a DLNA device at a fixed IP address in that other subnet? The intended end result is that she can http log into the mediabrowser server with her login, select the play-to device of her TV, and have it stream that way. MBserver (10.1.1.126) <-> Gateway <-> 10.1.2.1 <-> DLNA device Thanks for any tips, tricks, advice, and knowledge!

    WDLXTV and Emby

Dear forum! I'm planning to upgrade my WDTV Live with a custom firmware for extra features and possibilities. But before I do it, I wish to ask around if anyone tried to use it with Emby server at all? Will it cooperate with DLNA DirectPlay? Since even the official firmware is also act out with DirectPlay sometimes. Thanks in advance!
  8. Emby's device management is a little lacking in my opinion and could benefit from a few additional options that would make it more useful: Under the devices panel the ability to actually specify what is a shared device or not would be awesome. Currently you cannot specify which devices are considered shared or not (DLNA is shared others are not..) This means that if you had a dedicated HTPC running Emby Theater (or any client really) you couldn't make it a shared device. Under the user options there are currently two options "Control other users" and "control shared devices" I would like to see a third option added "Control only devices from local network": This option would only allow the user to control devices that are in the same network as they are. Currently the server knows when a device is in the same network as it as it uses this for the "local pin" function. So anything that qualifies for the local pin would be considered to be in the same network. On the flip side any remote devices would be considered to be in the same network if they had the same IP since requests coming from over the internet would all appear to come from that network's router. Its not really often that you need to control a device that you aren't on the same network. To make control of devices in my local network more straight forward both my girlfriend and I have the "control other users" and "Control shared devices" enabled however this means that we both can always see all the devices of our friends who are connected (which often includes an array of browsers all named identically) we keep both options on though since its annoying to not be able to change the video from one device or another because the other one is already controlling it. As an example: my girlfriend starts queues a bunch of TV shows [play all from here] then walks away turning the TV off since she changed her mind then I show up and want to watch something else but there is currently content playing already playing so I either would need to wait for it to finish hit stop on the remote over and over until I got to the end of the playlist that she had queued up to free the device up for my account to control.
  9. Before fully adopting Emby I used a few different peices of software one of which was BubbleUPNP. One feature that I always quite liked was its remote DLNA features. I was thinking that it would be an interesting thing to add to the android (or any mobile client really) to do the same general thing. Even if its not the full server implementation (eg you cant browse from the renderer) it would be awesome if we could select a DLNA device on the same network then the app would act as a relay for the data between Emby and the Renderer. The envisioned workflow would be: Connect phone/tablet to friend's network Open Emby app (login as required) Hit the devices button and see DLNA devices for the local network of the phone/Tablet Select one of the devices (the server would pick the appropriate profile for transcoding while also honouring the max bitrate settings on the app/server) Browse to content on the phone and play to that device The phone would download the data as available and then create a stream of that data for the renderer to play. Hopefully others would find this a useful feature. I figured that with more and more people buying smart TVs and consoles that support DLNA if you visited a friend's place then you could play a video/music file without having to bring your own additional hardware (chromecast or something similar). Its inconvenient to have to muck around behind people's TVs or receivers to plug something in that you could then forget since its not directly in sight (anyone miss the days of front mounted RCA ports?).
  10. Emby Server Version 3.0.5621.4 Windows 8.1 Please correct me if I am wrong but having watched a couple of youtube videos that Emby Server should appear as a DLNA device in my XB1 media player, which it does not. so assuming I have everything setup correctly should it? I am able to see my PC in XB1 as a DLNA device (which is running the emby server). I can also use my android phone to connect to my emby server. A DLNA profile exists for XB1 in emby (the default one) I did add a user account to it which is the same as the default account. On my PC I have both an XB1 and an EMBY media device in the devices and printers view. However the Emby device constantly goes greyed out (disconnected) after a period of time. Removing the disconnected device and then adding it seems to be the only way I can get it reconnected. however this does not cause the device to appear in XB1 mediaplayer. I am able to right click a video on my PC and play to XB1. I have read a heap of posts that I could find and I have enabled blast messages enabled remote control If log files would of any use please let me know and how/where to get them from my emby server I am already Nutts but I was hoping to get better this is not helping any thoughts?

    DLNA disappearing

Hi, last few weeks I'm experimenting with Emby. I have with your help successfully connected my LG WebOS TV with Emby. I can play movies with subtiles. But I have one specific problem. After some time two events happened. Sometimes Emby crash, I posted logs, and created issue on GitHub (https://github.com/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser/issues/1093), but so far no one answered. And In other case, Emby server is still running, but DLNA function "stop transmitting". Emby disappear from TV. I have checked it with Kodi too. Emby is not visible on my LAN. As I wrote before, Emby process is still runnig. Because you need logs, I'm running Emby with this command on Debian Jessie: sudo -u mediabrowser mono --trace=N:MediaBrowser --debug MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -programdata /var/lib/mediabrowser | tee -a /tmp/mediabrowser-$(date +%F-%H%M%S).txt Here are my logs: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/e3qu39knjaw1dyk/AACL3ZP2CHvtQo3hswgMFYAja?dl=0 and these are few last lines from logs: [0x7f3099c7b700:] EXCEPTION handling: System.ObjectDisposedException: The object was used after being disposed. Samsung UN46ES6150 streaming WTV files

Is it possible for Samsung E-series TV's to stream WMC's recorded TV files (WTV)? I'm aware that copy once protected files will not be supported, but can copy freely work? I have tried connecting to the Emby server to playback these files, but I get "media not supported" messages. So, the format being presented to the TV is not one it supports apparently. Is it possible to edit the Samsung profile to attempt to transcode to an alternate supported format? Thanks in advance!

    Samsung PN50C8000 -Error 500

Has anyone had any luck streaming media to their Samsung TV? I have a Samsung PN50C8000 (Series 8 - Plasma TV). I have had no luck using the Web Client to stream media to it. ( I also have a Panasonic Vieira which streams just fine using the default DLNA profile.) I have read nearly every post in the DLNA forum and have tried hundreds of different DLNA settings but I consistently get the following error: "The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error" From reading the forum, I assume this is an error generated when the file attempting to be streamed is unsupported by the TV. Here is the supported file information for all Samsung Series 8 TVs: and here is the Media Info from the web client: Like all of my movies it is a VOB file (ripped by DVDFab). So what I have gathered is that it is not natively supported by my Samsung TV so it will have to be transcoded. However, that never works. Here is the error from the EMBY Log File:
  16. I've noticed that some of my movie folders are overlayed with movie posters while others are not. I haven't managed to figure out how those overlays work. Can anybody tell how to display movie posters on LG Smartshare TVs? In Windows Media Center all movies have posters.
  17. I'm having a new issue where TV episodes added to my library since April 5th are taking around 5 minutes to start playing when using DLNA play-to with the Xbox One. This is all episodes added since then. About 5 shows and 5 episodes. All episodes added before then still play perfectly fine. There is also the added difference that these newly added episodes are also not displaying the sync icon in Emby. Screenshots attached. They also don't have chapters available for selection or a run-time calculated. Currently using version 3.0.5574.28668 Thanks! server-63564006013.txt
  18. Here's what I think is a simple question. Is it possible to use Emby to host a multi-room audio playback system using DLNA speakers (like the Pioneer XW-SMA1-K)? It would be great if I could have several of these speakers around the house and from the music section of Emby simply select "Play to XX device". If this is possible, I'm thinking I would then be able to play different tracks to different speakers, which would make this a great alternative to Sonos. Is anyone using Emby for something like this, or have a better solution?
  19. Hi, I'm trying to access my remote MB server (from work to home). I can access it via browser directly with the public IP of my router and the 8096 port. But I'm not able to access using a DLNA renderer player... I've tried foobar2000 and MediaMonkey. As I can see sniffing the http traffic, the server is responding with a 404 to the request http://IP:8096/DeviceDescription.xml (that is the url built by foobar2000, for example). Anyway the DLNA is up for sure, if I try inside my home network I can see the MB server in the DLNA servers list of my players. Am I missing something? What is the correct url I've to use to access the server from remote via DLNA? Thanks!
  20. I access MB Server 3 via my Panasonic Viera TC-P50UT50 via DLNA. No problem accessing folders or viewing movies. The issue is when I try to use the playback controls via the TV's remote control. For example, when I pause and then hit play again, the movie starts from the beginning. Funny thing is, the counter continues where the movie left off, even thugh the movie starts over. Same thing with forward, reverse, etc. Anybody else run into this and resolved?
  21. My Samsung TV only sees 37 of 700 album artists..(The same first 37 every time) Odd thing is it has no problem seeing 100s of genres, 1000s of albums.. None of the other dlna clients on network have a problem seeing all 700. Great thing is that DLNA Browsing is by far the fastest and most responsive of all client types for music, all the views are cached and it is very quick to navigate around (helped by reduced artwork in ui no doubt) Any other Samsung users seeing more than 37 Album Artists? able to replicate this issue? thanks.
  22. Good Afternoon, I have been having some issues playing some files and I was hoping to find out why exactly this is happening since almost every other file works. The issue occurs when attempting to play a file using the web interface to a local DLNA device (KODI). It only happens with a few specific files however these files work when played using the windows share method OR when played using Serviio (alternate DLNA software); this leads me to think the issue is specific to Mediabrowser. I have generated a profile for KODI to eliminate transcoding and indicate the device is able to play all content natively, profile attached. Subtitles (again): work with MKV but not MP4

Hi there, I've got an issue with subtitles (sorry if you get fed up with those :-P). So here is the thing: I'm testing my DLNA setup with 3 iOS apps (VLC, nPlayer and the MediaBrowser client) : - VLC don't show any subtitles, so well, we'll not talk about it (it seems to be a VLC issue) - nPlayer and MB Client both show subtitles with MKV files, but not MP4 (I've only tested with those two formats, don't think I've got anything else in stock) When playing an MP4 video with nPlayer (with subtitles) the log give me a lot of this: [subrip @ 0x811826f20] Invalid UTF-8 in decoded subtitles text; maybe missing -sub_charenc option [Parsed_subtitles_1 @ 0x8118326a0] Error decoding: Invalid data found when processing input (ignored) I don't get any relevant log with MB client (or did I miss them ? there's so much to read ^^). Anyway, I did create a profile for MB client to force transcoding MP4 with SRT subtitles (I'm new to that, I may have done something wrong), but it did not transcode the file (direct play). nPlayer oddly seem to transcode without a profile (yes, since there's a transcode log for this MP4 video, see above, and I did not create a profile for it, the log even tell me that the default profile is used), but fail at playing the subtitles. So I'm stuck here, since I get two widely different results with two different apps, and I'm not too familiar with all those profiles and DLNA stuffs (why did they make this standard so hard to setup ???). I can try to give more informations as needed, but right now those are the only relevant stuffs I can think of. What I'd really like to achieve is a generic profile that would work with any app and play subtitles (+ without the need of transcoding (which eat a lot of resources from my server) if possible). I understand that I have to tinker with the profiles, but I really don't understand how to fill some informations (i.e: how to put a wildcard for all apps for instance), and yet I spent 3 hours this morning trying to figure it out, filling and testing... I also wonder why the default profile does not include subtitles by default ?? Well, I hope someone can help me set this right.
