  1. Hi I am use a combination of the iOS Emby client and Emby Server for Windows (Version 3.0.5821.0). I browse to the desired video file Ensure the option is set to 'play to' my TV (Samsung) Hit the play button All is well until I pause and then resume playback. At this point the video / audio get out of sync I searched the forum, but the only similar issue relates to playback of recorded live TV. Can anyone suggest a solution or avenues for further investigation? Thanks in advance! Cheers. John

    transcoding needed for DLNA

Hello, I tried something exotic: using plex server and plex web app to select a movie. Than casting it to KODI (on raspberry openelec) or PLEX HOME THEATER (on raspberry rasplex) by using DLNA Very nice to see that it works! However, on my server, I see that the ffmpeg process is transcoding and eating my CPU. The rasplex client is available of receiving full hd without transcoding. This is how I used to work with Plex/PHT combination. But if I want to change to Emby, the rasplex (or openelec) clients are a very good alternative, but I want to avoid transcoding everything I know there is a emby plugin for kodi, but I don't like the concept of syncing the emby-database to kodi (that is in fact what the plugin does). So my question here: is it possible to use kodi/rasplex as a DLNA-client for emby without the need for transcoding my movies? kind regards, B

    Smart subtitles

I don't really know where to post, but using a dlna device is where I first noticed it. I went into my user preferences and changed the subtitles to smart since I watch some anime in Japanese and they hardcode the subtitles. Everything works. I was watching izombie and since changing the subtitles to smart I started seeing them when streaming to my Joey. After some research I realized as ling as there was a .srt file it will force subtitles to the video. Isn't smart supposed to only push to the video if the language doesn't match? So if it's in another language and the .srt file is is English it will then show subtitles? Not when the language is eng and the subtitle is eng it shows the subtitles anyways. Am I reading what smart subtitle mean?
  4. No matter which episode I select, it plays the first episode of that season. In this log I picked Season 2, Episode 8, and what started playing was Season 2, Episode 1. 2014-10-08 22:21:41.9258 Info - App: SessionInfoWebSocketListener Begin transmitting over websocket to 192.168.1.1:54442 2014-10-08 22:21:41.9258 Info - App: ActivityLogWebSocketListener Begin transmitting over websocket to 192.168.1.1:54442 2014-10-08 22:21:41.9258 Info - App: ScheduledTasksWebSocketListener Begin transmitting over websocket to 192.168.1.1:54442 2014-10-08 22:21:51.5434 Info - App: ActivityLogWebSocketListener stop transmitting over websocket to 192.168.1.1:54442 2014-10-08 22:21:51.5434 Info - App: SessionInfoWebSocketListener stop transmitting over websocket to 192.168.1.1:54442 2014-10-08 22:21:51.5434 Info - App: ScheduledTasksWebSocketListener stop transmitting over websocket to 192.168.1.1:54442 2014-10-08 22:21:51.5434 Info - App: ActivityLogWebSocketListener Begin transmitting over websocket to 192.168.1.1:54442 2014-10-08 22:22:31.3963 Info - App: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\ffmpeg\20141005\ffmpeg.exe -fflags +genpts -i file:"\\server\videos\TV\Homeland\Season 2\2x08 - I'll Fly Away.mkv" -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -map -0:s -vcodec copy -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -map_metadata -1 -threads 2 -acodec aac -strict experimental -ab 320000 -af "aresample=async=1" -y "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\transcoding-temp\ba92548decc1db01ef7f12221aa7f938.ts" 2014-10-08 22:22:32.2090 Error - App: Error streaming media. Samsung TV sees Emby DLNA, but no content

I never really used to try DLNA, but remember it worked weeks ago. Now I tried to connect to EMBY over DLNA, but Samsung TV reports no video, music or image content. When I try the same over BubbleUPNP, it works. Hope someone can help me out. server-63587359454.txt

  7. Hardware Setup QNAP TVS-471-i3-4G QMono 4.0.1.0 Emby Server v3.0.5781.2 (v1.51119) Xbox One Client: Android App The Issues After a fresh boot of the Emby server and Android app, I can select my Xbox One as a DLNA device, and play a movie. Shortly after the movie starts, it no longer shows as "Currently Playing", and my Xbox is no longer listed as an available DLNA device. The movie keeps playing, but I lose my remote controls. The Chrome client also shows that nothing is playing, and there is no Xbox One DLNA device. When I'm done watching my movie I have to reboot the Emby Server on the QNAP to get my Xbox back. I bought this QNAP specifically for my Emby Server. Over the last couple days I have been really happy with how Emby works, aside from this issue. If we can get this worked out I'll be happy to become a lifetime Emby Premier supporter. PS - I'm also using Media Center Master which seems like a really great pair with Emby. I hope these products continue to play nicely together.
  8. Hi there! First of all, congratulations on Emby. It's an amazing piece of software. That being said, I'm having a little annoying problem: I can't get the external subtitles in Kodi on OpenELEC (Raspberry Pi) via DLNA to work. I've tried everything I could. The weird thing is that the subtitles work just fine in Kodi in the same machine where I run Emby Server, wich means, I believe, the subtitles are ok. It makes me think it's something in the DLNA process, but what do I know? Better ask the specialists, right? Hahaha I've also tried to send them to my Sony SmarTV and had no luck either. Any help would be very welcome. Thank you.
  9. Trying to send videos to my new Samsung 4K TV but every time I click to play a movie a message on the TV say check internet connection. Of course I have checked my internet connection and everything shows its working. I'm confused on this one. Any ideas out there. Thanks. DLNA shows it as UN65JS9000.

    DLNA and XBOX One Resume

Hi There, Does anyone else have a problem when using play-to with Xbone one that it cannot resume when playback has already started. Using the Windows 8.1/10 app, it just crashes out when I select resume on playback. TIA, Jason
  11. Hi, I always play my music files with my Marantz M-CR610. So each time I launch Emby Web, I have to select my Marantz M-CR610 in the upper right corner before I start a music file. I would like that each time I play a music file it is sent to my Marantz M-CR610 by default, instead of my PC speakers, without having to select in the upper right corner. Is this possible ? Thanks.

DLNA does not show all content

Hi, I have just started using emby and straight away I am facing an issue. The problem is very peculiar that the emby server does not show all the movies in the DLNA view and I am unable to find a reason why only a few movies are showing in the list while the other movies are not showing in the list. Can someone please help me find the reason for the same.

    Play To Phillips Smart Tv

Hi Luke, Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and do that tonight to see if that resolves things. One follow up question though, I would just be recreating it with the exact same information and conditions as I don't have any different information about the TV. Is this what your are suggesting? Thanks for the quick reply.

Xbox one can't see dlna server

    DLNA renderer on server?

I'm working on a testing emby installation for a music pub. It has several music listening rooms that we have to be independant and a central one with an already mounted sound system. The fact is that in that central place it's where the emby server could be mounted, and I tought it could be nice if some media could be directly reproduced on the server, so we could save for a dlna receiver there. Anyone knows if it is possible to install a dlna renderer service on the headless ubuntu server and make emby see it so it could play music on the server itself? Thanks.

    Show status of DLNA players

The server status page shows what some clients are playing and whether or not it is being transcoded, but seems to not to include DLNA clients where you browse and play through that client's own interface. This makes it difficult to see what is happening or diagnose problems.
  17. Hi, I have been trying to make DLNA work from Emby with my Onkyo AV receiver, to no avail. I have created a profile for it, set the blast alive messages from various during durations from 2s to 30s, even deactivating them, deactivated Windows firewall and it does not work. When I say it does not work, it means that the receiver does not see Emby DLNA server. Emby server runs on a French Windows 10 and I have 3 Emby Theater clients that work perfectly. For the sake of testing, I have tested Emby server on an English (US) Windows 10 and the receiver can see this Emby DLNA server right away (even with Windows firewall up). I have checked that the regional settings and number format are the same on both Windows 10's. Here is what I see in the logs repeating every X s depending on the configuration of blast alive messages: 2015-09-26 16:30:14.6136 Error - SsdpHandler: Error sending Datagram to 127.0.0.1:1900 from 192.168.2.2:0: HTTP/1.1 200 OK. I'm using - Emby Server 3.0.5641.4 on Server/PC used as play to device - Emby Theater 3.0.5651.20234 on Laptop/PC used as remote control - Windows 8.1 - Gigabit LAN (working, I use Input Director to controller my PC's using one Notebook/Laptop. Problem Emby Theater is not showing up as 'play to' DLNA device on Emby Server ( WMP is still working and showing up as DLNA device) This stopped working afther I forget to start the server before starting Theater. Theater asked to confirm a PIN. Me, not paying anough attention, just did what it told me to do. Afther de PIN stuff I notices the server wasn't running. I all ready tried - restarting Emby Theater and Server Any try this or that suggestion is welcome! EDIT: Allright, Emby Theater is not a 'DLNA play to device'! That was a wrong assumtion. Also, note, I'am using Emby now for 1 month before that I used the Media Browser version that exepted movies.xml and series.xml. Not sure what was the problem but it kept me from upgrading for 5+ years. Im thinking of going back - I don't like the bling bling of Emby and a lot of input methodes aren't accepted anymore. Like; Typing 'M' to go to the first Title with a 'M' or scrolling to go trow the list in front of you.. etc. I gues I need more time to get used to the 'new way'.

    DLNA profile order

    Hi, I have 2 vlans with same smart TV (LG WebOS) on each vlan. I want to limit access to library for 1st TV in 1st vlan, and allow full access for 2nd TV in 2nd vlan. Because, they are almost equals models (700/730) I can't filter it by User-Agent. I have cloned profile, but changed names, so I have 2 profiles, and in each profile I have selected different user. 1. Can I (how to) filter by device IP ? I have tried this in identification section, but it does not work <Identification> <FriendlyName>LG Smart+ TV</FriendlyName> <ModelNumber>1.0</ModelNumber> <SerialNumber /> <ModelName>LG TV</ModelName> <DeviceDescription /> <ModelUrl>http://www.lge.com/</ModelUrl> <Manufacturer>LG Electronics.</Manufacturer> <ManufacturerUrl>http://www.lge.com</ManufacturerUrl> <Ip>192.168.2.8</Ip> <Headers> <HttpHeaderInfo name="User-Agent" value="LGE WebOS TV LGE_DLNA_SDK" match="Substring" /> </Headers> </Identification> 2. I have tried identify by host server IP (because emby runs on multiple interfaces, host is different for each vlan) <Identification> <FriendlyName>LG Smart+ TV</FriendlyName> <ModelNumber>1.0</ModelNumber> <SerialNumber /> <ModelName>LG TV</ModelName> <DeviceDescription /> <ModelUrl>http://www.lge.com/</ModelUrl> <Manufacturer>LG Electronics.</Manufacturer> <ManufacturerUrl>http://www.lge.com</ManufacturerUrl> <Headers> <HttpHeaderInfo name="User-Agent" value="LGE WebOS TV LGE_DLNA_SDK" match="Substring" /> <HttpHeaderInfo name="Host" value="192.168.2.5" match="Substring" /> </Headers> </Identification> 3. is there any other way how to unique identify TVs ? I'm running latest dev version 3.0.5725.41620. Thank You

    DLNA display of latest

Is there any way to change the default behavior via DLNA to show the episode image and name in the Latest section. This is very confusing as you have no idea what show it is. Is there any plugin I can use to change the image to the show image or to have the show name appear anywhere for easy identification. Thank in advance.
  21. I have a problem getting DLNA working on a FreeBSD 10 system which appears to be down to the way the system's interface is selected. So, the server has two physical interfaces, em0 and em1. em0 itself has no IP configured, but there are three VLAN interfaces connected to various internal networks (10.0.x.0/24). em1 has a public IP address and is connected to the Internet. Default gateway of course points out of em1 As it is, emby operates fine with internal clients, web interface, WMC client, etc. as it listens on *:* for connections. (The public interface is firewalled off so no issues there). However, it seems that emby insists on using em1 (public) for UPnP listening/discovery - DLNA clients polling on the internal network will not work. If I remove the configuration from em1 before starting the emby service, emby then appears to use the next interface (alphabetically?) which luckily is the network with my internal clients. There must be some way to configure emby to bind to a specific interface for UPnP short of disabling all others before restarting it??? Thanks, Richard
  22. Hi, I have LG TV LB700 with fully working dlna and streaming. Sometimes some files are streamed and some transcoded. I know why are they transcoded, because TV does not support that codec, but on this examples is codec same, and some files are streamed and some transcoded. this example is from TV Show Cosmos. Episode 101 is streamed with preferred language CZE (which is ok) Episode 102 is streamed with language ENG even if CZE audio track is default and forced Episode 103 is streamed with language ENG even if CZE audio track is default and forced Episode 104 is transcoded with language CZE even if codec is same as in previous episodes. can someone explain me what is wrong, and how to force CZE language to stream/transocode ? Attaching mkvinfo and nfo files in zip archive. straming-transcoding.zip Thank You

DLNA via Server across IP subnets

Hi all! Apologies if this has been answered, which means my search skills suck... I'm wondering if I can use the play-to feature to specify a DLNA device on another IP subnet? Basically, I've got my emby server (latest version for windows) on a 10.1.1.0/24 subnet. I have a VPN tunnel set up to my sister's house, with everything on a 10.1.2.0/24 subnet there. Is there a way in the web GUI or config files to manually add an option to play-to a DLNA device at a fixed IP address in that other subnet? The intended end result is that she can http log into the mediabrowser server with her login, select the play-to device of her TV, and have it stream that way. MBserver (10.1.1.126) <-> Gateway <-> 10.1.2.1 <-> DLNA device Thanks for any tips, tricks, advice, and knowledge!

    WDLXTV and Emby

Dear forum! I'm planning to upgrade my WDTV Live with a custom firmware for extra features and possibilities. But before I do it, I wish to ask around if anyone tried to use it with Emby server at all? Will it cooperate with DLNA DirectPlay? Since even the official firmware is also act out with DirectPlay sometimes. Thanks in advance!
  25. Emby's device management is a little lacking in my opinion and could benefit from a few additional options that would make it more useful: Under the devices panel the ability to actually specify what is a shared device or not would be awesome. Currently you cannot specify which devices are considered shared or not (DLNA is shared others are not..) This means that if you had a dedicated HTPC running Emby Theater (or any client really) you couldn't make it a shared device. Under the user options there are currently two options "Control other users" and "control shared devices" I would like to see a third option added "Control only devices from local network": This option would only allow the user to control devices that are in the same network as they are. Currently the server knows when a device is in the same network as it as it uses this for the "local pin" function. So anything that qualifies for the local pin would be considered to be in the same network. On the flip side any remote devices would be considered to be in the same network if they had the same IP since requests coming from over the internet would all appear to come from that network's router. Its not really often that you need to control a device that you aren't on the same network. To make control of devices in my local network more straight forward both my girlfriend and I have the "control other users" and "Control shared devices" enabled however this means that we both can always see all the devices of our friends who are connected (which often includes an array of browsers all named identically) we keep both options on though since its annoying to not be able to change the video from one device or another because the other one is already controlling it. As an example: my girlfriend starts queues a bunch of TV shows [play all from here] then walks away turning the TV off since she changed her mind then I show up and want to watch something else but there is currently content playing already playing so I either would need to wait for it to finish hit stop on the remote over and over until I got to the end of the playlist that she had queued up to free the device up for my account to control.
