Since a few days ago my Samsung Smart TVs (2 in total) are no longer able to find any media on Emby. They do find the Emby server fine but claim that there are no videos/photos/etc. stored on it. I also have a Sony smart TV which is working fine. I have checked the log files and found the info below. I believe this might be relevant because the TV is called '[TV]Vesta' so it seems to fail at updating something. What can I do to make my Samsung TVs find the media on Emby again. Just for the record, both TVs have worked with Emby for months. They stopped working a few days ago. 2016-02-27 14:46:30.4169 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET http://192.168.178.37:8096/dlna/c3935fd57afa3f2d582f256e21d0cbd3/icons/logo120.png. Hi all, I've spent many time searching on the web for an answer to my problem and found nothing. Obviously, it is not a bug in Emby so I won't open a bug report. The facts : - I've installed Emby Server on a Windows 10 PC and it worked flawlessly with the browser client for a couple of hours, especially the "Play To" on dlna devices (Samsung Smart TV and Yamaha Amp, both connected to network) - For easier machine uptime, I've installed Emby Server on another Windows 10 (x64 family) PC which is directly connected to TV and amp - When installed, Emby web didn't show my TV and my amp in Play To but found others applications like Kodi - I made a new fresh install of Windows 10 on the machine. Get avast, Chrome and Emby server running : TV and amp were back in Play to (hurrah !) - After doing more software installations on this PC, TV and amp vanished again from play to (argh !) What I tried : - Checked all network config : no problem (and indeed W10 can access and cas to these devices) - Unplugged and plugged the devices and reboot computer - Reinstalled again W10 from scratch (3 times) but never get back my devices in Play to - Installed other DLNA chrome apps for testing : they can't detect these two devices too - All other castable devices are OK from this computer (e.g. Kodi or other browers) - TV and amp can access Emby Server by DLNA from their side - TV and amp are visible on network and I can cast on them from the culprit computer with W10 self play to (from edge or WM) - Installed again Emby on the first computer : devices are invisible The Emby Logs don't say anything about Play to after enabling full debug. I've tried many, many, many things (disabling firewall and antivirus, running the whole with admin rights, plug and unplug devices...) but it still looks like Windows is preventing Emby Server or Chrome from detecting these two devices despite IT can see them. It's really frustrating and I clearly missing something but what ?. Hope someone will have some ideas or the key to this problem

* Yesterday I posted the same issue in the DLNA subforums. If x-posting is not ok, please remove the other post as I believe it is better suited here. External subtitles are not working when playing something over DLNA. I have the subtitle profile in the DLNA profile for .srt as External Download. And I can see from the logs that the profile is getting loaded correctly. I can see the subtitles when I play the movie from the web portal. Also if I change the Subtitles profile in the DLNA profile to "Embed within container", I can see the subtitles, so the subtiles are recongnized by the server. I am trying to play this on Philips HTS3564. I am using dev build 3.0.5902.22871. Also tried the release build to no success. I was following the below thread, which later suggested that the issue was fixed. http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12885-dlna-support-of-external-subtitles/ Any help would be appreciated.

HI Emby Team, your app is really good but till now i cannot understand how peaple looks the movies because the subtitles are too small. I am talking nor for burn in subtitles. In other apps like Ple* there is an option to select small, big, bigger, large. Here there is no option or i cannot find it. Can you support me how to solve the issue. Thank you very much in advance.

Is it possible to add support for external subtitles trough DLNA to MB? Currently MB transcodes every item that has external subtitles to burn them in, which is K.I.I.S. solution. The DLNA standard actually support additional subtitle (.srt) files, for example Serviio serves external subtitles to the client as item within the ContentDirectory: "urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ContentDirectory:1": ... <res protocolInfo="http-get:*:text/srt:*">http://192.168.1.5:8895/resource/6/SUBTITLE.srt</res> </item> The URI to the .srt file is given in the media directory and can be read through HTTP, so DLNA media render can access it. I get that, transcoding is the "last hope" when nothing else work but in this case, something else work, and why to force transcoding when natively can get without.
-
I updated to Version 3.0.5821.0 yesterday and since doing so have two instances of Emby showing when a list of DLNA servers is displayed on any media device (LG Bluray, PS3). I'm thinking this is due to using both LAN ports on the DS414 but is their an Emby setting to only display one instance?

My media is on a Synology NAS. In Kodi I can play movies (direct stream) and play music (also direct stream). In my setup it isn't possible to play songs on my receiver trough DLNA Kodi. Browsing just works but not playing. Is this correct? Because Kodi doesn't seem to find the media when I use DLNA. Play music and movies in Kodi itself is working. What do I have to change in my setup to play songs on my receiver trough DLNA Kodi?

Hi I am use a combination of the iOS Emby client and Emby Server for Windows (Version 3.0.5821.0). I browse to the desired video file Ensure the option is set to 'play to' my TV (Samsung) Hit the play button All is well until I pause and then resume playback. At this point the video / audio get out of sync I searched the forum, but the only similar issue relates to playback of recorded live TV. Can anyone suggest a solution or avenues for further investigation? Thanks in advance! Cheers. John

Hello, I tried something exotic: using plex server and plex web app to select a movie. Than casting it to KODI (on raspberry openelec) or PLEX HOME THEATER (on raspberry rasplex) by using DLNA Very nice to see that it works! However, on my server, I see that the ffmpeg process is transcoding and eating my CPU. The rasplex client is available of receiving full hd without transcoding. This is how I used to work with Plex/PHT combination. But if I want to change to Emby, the rasplex (or openelec) clients are a very good alternative, but I want to avoid transcoding everything I know there is a emby plugin for kodi, but I don't like the concept of syncing the emby-database to kodi (that is in fact what the plugin does). So my question here: is it possible to use kodi/rasplex as a DLNA-client for emby without the need for transcoding my movies? kind regards, B

I don't really know where to post, but using a dlna device is where I first noticed it. I went into my user preferences and changed the subtitles to smart since I watch some anime in Japanese and they hardcode the subtitles. Everything works. I was watching izombie and since changing the subtitles to smart I started seeing them when streaming to my Joey. After some research I realized as ling as there was a .srt file it will force subtitles to the video. Isn't smart supposed to only push to the video if the language doesn't match? So if it's in another language and the .srt file is is English it will then show subtitles? Not when the language is eng and the subtitle is eng it shows the subtitles anyways. Am I reading what smart subtitle mean?

Hardware Setup QNAP TVS-471-i3-4G QMono 4.0.1.0 Emby Server v3.0.5781.2 (v1.51119) Xbox One Client: Android App The Issues After a fresh boot of the Emby server and Android app, I can select my Xbox One as a DLNA device, and play a movie. Shortly after the movie starts, it no longer shows as "Currently Playing", and my Xbox is no longer listed as an available DLNA device. The movie keeps playing, but I lose my remote controls. The Chrome client also shows that nothing is playing, and there is no Xbox One DLNA device. When I'm done watching my movie I have to reboot the Emby Server on the QNAP to get my Xbox back. I bought this QNAP specifically for my Emby Server. Over the last couple days I have been really happy with how Emby works, aside from this issue. If we can get this worked out I'll be happy to become a lifetime Emby Premier supporter. PS - I'm also using Media Center Master which seems like a really great pair with Emby. I hope these products continue to play nicely together.

Hi there! First of all, congratulations on Emby. It's an amazing piece of software. That being said, I'm having a little annoying problem: I can't get the external subtitles in Kodi on OpenELEC (Raspberry Pi) via DLNA to work. I've tried everything I could. The weird thing is that the subtitles work just fine in Kodi in the same machine where I run Emby Server, wich means, I believe, the subtitles are ok. It makes me think it's something in the DLNA process, but what do I know? Better ask the specialists, right? Hahaha I've also tried to send them to my Sony SmarTV and had no luck either. Any help would be very welcome. Thank you.

Trying to send videos to my new Samsung 4K TV but every time I click to play a movie a message on the TV say check internet connection. Of course I have checked my internet connection and everything shows its working. I'm confused on this one. Any ideas out there. Thanks. DLNA shows it as UN65JS9000.

Hi, I always play my music files with my Marantz M-CR610. So each time I launch Emby Web, I have to select my Marantz M-CR610 in the upper right corner before I start a music file. I would like that each time I play a music file it is sent to my Marantz M-CR610 by default, instead of my PC speakers, without having to select in the upper right corner. Is this possible ? Thanks.

Hi, I have just started using emby and straight away I am facing an issue. The problem is very peculiar that the emby server does not show all the movies in the DLNA view and I am unable to find a reason why only a few movies are showing in the list while the other movies are not showing in the list. Can someone please help me find the reason for the same.

Hi Luke, Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and do that tonight to see if that resolves things. One follow up question though, I would just be recreating it with the exact same information and conditions as I don't have any different information about the TV. Is this what your are suggesting? Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm working on a testing emby installation for a music pub. It has several music listening rooms that we have to be independant and a central one with an already mounted sound system. The fact is that in that central place it's where the emby server could be mounted, and I tought it could be nice if some media could be directly reproduced on the server, so we could save for a dlna receiver there. Anyone knows if it is possible to install a dlna renderer service on the headless ubuntu server and make emby see it so it could play music on the server itself? Thanks.

The server status page shows what some clients are playing and whether or not it is being transcoded, but seems to not to include DLNA clients where you browse and play through that client's own interface. This makes it difficult to see what is happening or diagnose problems.

Hi, I have been trying to make DLNA work from Emby with my Onkyo AV receiver, to no avail. I have created a profile for it, set the blast alive messages from various during durations from 2s to 30s, even deactivating them, deactivated Windows firewall and it does not work. When I say it does not work, it means that the receiver does not see Emby DLNA server. Emby server runs on a French Windows 10 and I have 3 Emby Theater clients that work perfectly. For the sake of testing, I have tested Emby server on an English (US) Windows 10 and the receiver can see this Emby DLNA server right away (even with Windows firewall up). I have checked that the regional settings and number format are the same on both Windows 10's. Here is what I see in the logs repeating every X s depending on the configuration of blast alive messages: 2015-09-26 16:30:14.6136 Error - SsdpHandler: Error sending Datagram to 127.0.0.1:1900 from 192.168.2.2:0: HTTP/1.1 200 OK. Any help would be appreciated Thanks!
