Raspberry Pi 3 - Emby Server Crashing

Just finished installing emby server on a Raspberry Pi 3, but I am having frequent problems with the server crashing or the Pi freezing up. I am some what of a noob when it comes to Linux but I followed the installation instructions on a previous forum post. Attached are the server logs. Any help would be appreciated. server-63613372638.txt server-63613423040.txt
  2. Hi, I accidentally misposted this in the Android TV forum - apparently it is supposed to be in the android mobile forum. I am SO looking forward to having a functional Emby experience... (after many, many frustrations) and appreciate advice/assistance. I recently posted a string of problems related to an AsusStor NAS running server. Most were solved by dropping the hope of running Emby on this device. Now I have it running on Windows and have a great experience with android apps and web apps - except on ONE problematic android set top box! The errors are very repeatable - but I cant grasp what might be the problem. GOOD: Old Set Top Box (AcRyan Veolo 4k) connected via HDMI to Old HD samsung TV 1. Go to youtube - play random video: Result: Video + sound 2. Go to emby (latest via play store)- play SD PCM video: Result video + sound 3. Still in Emby - play 1080p AAC video: Result video + sound 4. Go back to youtube or any other device and play stuff: Result: video+sound GOOD: Playback on Galaxy Note 5 emby app (latest via play store) 1. Go to youtube - play random video: Result: Video + sound 2. Go to emby - play SD PCM video: Result video + sound 3. Still in Emby - play 1080p AAC video: Result video + sound 4. Go back to youtube or any other device and play stuff: Result: video+sound BAD: New Set Top Box (AcRyan Veolo 4k+) connected via HDMI to new 4K Samsung TV UN78HU9000 1. Go to youtube - play random video: Result: Video + sound 2. Go to emby - play SD PCM video: Result video + sound 3. Still in Emby - play 1080p AAC video: Result - EITHER: VIDEO plays for 2 secs then CRASH OR: VIDEO plays for a while with NO SOUND 4. Go back to youtube or any other app and play stuff: Result: Video but NO SOUND *** Only way to get sound back is to reboot android box. *Tried disconnecting/reconnecting HDMI (incase a handshaking issue) - no effect *Tried setting sound output to HDMI (vs Auto) in android tv settings - no effect *Tried playback via Kodi (using Emby plugin) of 1080p+AAC results in video not playing back Veolo Specs: working 4k version problematic 4KPlus version Processor 1.8Ghz ARM A17 2Ghz ARM A53 Ram 2GB DDR3 2GB DDR3 Android 4.4 KitKat 5.1 Lollipop Resolution 1080p 2160P@30hz I tried a factory reset of the box - then fresh install of emby. Same result. The device techs are willing to help but need something they can reproduce - so playback from my emby server is not an option from their service centre. NB - when exploring issues with the AsusStor NAS I installed Plex server/app of this set top box. Plex could stream the same file without issues, and I can view the same files on other emby android apps without issue... so I'm assuming its something Emby App Related... Since other android devices work, I assume it is not likely to be server related. NEW: It looks like Emby uses VLC to playback videos - I can REPRODUCE the crash/sound issue in VLC player as well! But in VLC I can SOLVE the problem: Changing a VLC audio setting however allows everything to playback just FINE in VLC - NO crash, no sound outages. I Need to change the Audio Output setting from 'AudioTrack' (which crashed or kills all further sound on the device until a reboot) to 'Open SL ES' (See attached photo of VLC settings) I cannot find a way to make this change in Emby though - so still playback in Emby effectively kills the device. I downloaded one of the sample MKV files and I can play back the MKV file (with sound, without crashes) in both of the other media players installed on the device! (Stock, and something else that came preinstalled (MX player if I recall) NEW: LOGS Of SERVER and of APP are uploaded - App logs show everything from startup to playing SD file to playing HD AAC file and CRASH. Server logs contain all sorts of other stuff - but rather than try to filter to save somebody time - and then have no meaningful response because I filtered something important - I am uploading the full days' log up to the above mentioned crash. To be clear - the uploaded logs are of the PROBLEMATIC device/server. If my non-technical descriptions are unclear please use the information in the LOGS to clarify. Any suggestions or detailed recommendations very welcome. Its been a few weeks now that I keep trying different combinations of ostensibly supported platforms and run into endless problems. I am about to give up on Emby completely - No home theatre solution should be this difficult to get working Especially not something paid. Thanks! X ServerLog.txt Android5.5MBApp.log
  3. Hello One month ago I have a crash related with ffmpeg package, since then some old films doesnt stream but other yes, and both are equal (same codec, same characteristics). I dont understand why crash and if I have to recodec the files or erase a cache. Can some one give me a clue? I have uploaded 2 equal movies, one work and the other crash. Now I'm running ubuntu 16.04 with the latest ffmpeg package http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2016/09/install-ffmpeg-3-1-ubuntu-16-04-ppa/ Thanks! Emby Crashing on Startup Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Hi, After a recent apt-get dist-upgrade it seems some dependent libraries got messed up and now my Emby Server is not starting up. I am running Emby Server Version: 3.0.6400. on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS. Attached are some relevant logs I could find under /var/log/ Any help to resolve this would be awesome. -Matt dpkg.log emby-server.log server-63608630399.txt server-63608680856.txt
  5. Hi, I have not been on the community for a while, which generally means I am happy with my system, and busy watching movies (as was designed)... However, I have always had this problem with playing Dolby Digital audio movies.. it just crashes my entire WMC... it does a complete restart (so, maybe you can call it graceful crash). Was not a big problem in the past as majority of movies are 2 track AAC... but recently, all my movies are in Dolby Digital, which is a Problem... Initially, (1 year ago), i though it must be codec problem, and i played with that, and asked everyone to help, including Shark007, whom codec package i am using, with no success... I was experimenting yesterday, and i decided to try to "switch off" the new look player on Emby, i.e. use the default WMC player interface, and guess what... the crashes stopped... So, it appears that the Emby interface player has a bug when playing Dolby Digital Audio... here is how to recreate this problem. play a Dolby digital 5.1 movie, and it will work fine initially, but if you try to skip forward using chapter or even just skip button, initially, it will slow the video down, and sometime (1 out 5 times) it will crash the entire WMC, and it will restart WMC again. I understand that Emby for WMC is not a focus right now, as WMC is not developed further, but it sure would be nice if this can be fixed... many thanks

    server crashes during sync

As the topic says, when I sync music, emby server crashes. Log File attached. emby-crash.log
  7. For some weird reason, almost every time I try to stream something recently from any app (android, PC), it is crashing the PC running the server. Anyone else having this issue? Any help would be appreciated...
  8. Emby has gotten progressively worse for me over the last few updates. It seems whenever I connect via the Emby android app over 4G the server quits responding for everyone, and the logs show nothing. Now, however, the Emby server will not start and throws some nasty errors! InnerException: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException Address already in use at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Bind (System.Net.EndPoint local_end) <0x41b9ba20 + 0x000ef> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointListener.CreateSocket () <0x41b996a0 + 0x000bf> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointListener..ctor (SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListener listener, System.Net.IPAddress addr, Int32 port, Boolean se cure, System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate cert, ILogger logger) <0x41b992f0 + 0x00227> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointManager.GetEPListener (ILogger logger, System.String host, Int32 port, SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListener list ener, Boolean secure) <0x41b98db0 + 0x0035b> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointManager.AddPrefixInternal (ILogger logger, System.String p, SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListener listener) <0x41 b98810 + 0x000bb> in <filename unknown>:0 at SocketHttpListener.Net.EndPointManager.AddListener (ILogger logger, SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListener listener) <0x41b98310 + 0x00153> in <f ilename unknown>:0 This happens regardless of the fact that I've rebooted the system. Any assistance would be appreciated. Just became a lifetime supporter and love the product so I would like to see this working Also I would like a good way to roll back updates in the event that you guys break things again Any suggestions on where/how to get .debs for the previous versions?
  9. Hello, When trying to connect to http://localhost:8096/web/library.html This error from the browser (Chrome, running on 10.9.5); This site can’t be reached localhost refused to connect.ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED Prior to this I had attempted to restart the server and it hung showing a spinning progress wheel. I then updated to the latest update and restarted the machine. The server still isn't running. I took a look at my system crash reports and it showed Emby was crashing, here's the first few lines; /Applications/Emby.Server.Mac.app/Contents/MacOS/Emby.Server.Mac Identifier: com.emby.server Version: 3 (1) Code Type: X86 (Native) Parent Process: launchd [145] Date/Time: 2016-07-08 09:01:21.933 +0100 OS Version: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549) Report Version: 6 Exception Type: EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000 Working previously, although buggy and I'll report those problems in a separate post. Advice appreciated. Thanks, Jim
  10. I am not sure how to recreate the issue, but for a couple months now my emby-server has just crashed maybe once or twice a day, and I need to restart the service. I kept hoping the next update would resolve it, but it hasn't happened yet... I'm running v3.0.5972 on Arch Linux 64 bit, with an Intel i7 processor and 32GB of RAM. [root@potatofarm]# mono --version Mono JIT compiler version 4.2.2 (Stable 4.2.2.30/996df3c Sun Jan 31 11:58:08 UTC 2016) Copyright (C) 2002-2014 Novell, Inc, Xamarin Inc and Contributors. www.mono-project.com TLS: __thread SIGSEGV: altstack Notifications: epoll Architecture: amd64 Disabled: none Misc: softdebug LLVM: supported, not enabled. GC: sgen When emby is performing normally, I connect to it regularly with my android device and my Kodi device running the Emby plugin for library sync (the server is also running the relevant library sync helper). I don't see anything in the logs that indicates it's related to the library sync helper, but I can't really make heads or tails of these logs anyway. I've disabled all DLNA features of the server because I don't use it, and I saw other people with mysterious crashing issues that were resolved by avoiding DLNA. This doesn't seem to have helped anything. I have lots and lots and lots of small log files which appear to indicate unhandled exceptions, which i'm including the most recent ones of here, along with the last couple of server log files. This is difficult for me to pin down the exact log entries and times specifically because it seems to happen when we're not paying attention to it... we just go over to Kodi and it can't connect, or it already has a warning that the sync thread has failed (presumably because it can't connect). Please let me know if there are any other datapoints i should try to hit. emby_logs.tar.gz

    Application Keeps Crashing

Emby keeps crashing when I use it on CyanogenMod 11 on a Galaxy Note 2. It seems like Emby is forced to close by android as the loading circle or whatever is on screen stutters beforehand. Streaming to Chromecast is an almost certain way of causing a crash. Steps to reproduce: Open the app and navigate around a little Logs are attached, as well as the resulting screenshot. emby-for-android.log server-log.txt

    Emby server crashes when starting

Hello, Since last week, Emby-server crashes. I am using openmediavault 2. I have no idea about what is wrong. I start Emby and do nothing (I only let it scan the library in the beginning) Can you please tell me what I can do? (I have no idea about what information I can give) Here are the log files I don't know if it is linked, but the scan of an aleady scanned library takes a really long time (more than one hour and my library isn't that big). Thank you Marc server-63602174835.zip unhandled_c744f2c3-2323-4931-80f7-5bfa7e70023c.zip
  13. For the past 2 consecutive mornings, I've had a family member notify me that Emby was not working on various clients. Both times I checked the server and found it not to be running. Server version has gone from 3.1.26.0 -> 3.1.27.0 -> 3.1.28.0 in that time. Below is what I found in the Windows Event Log: Can someone please tell me if I have an issue with the version of .NET Framework i'm running (4.0.30319) - if so, which version should I be using ideally. Note this is a new issue, only seen in the last couple of days. The Emby Server log provides no information at the time of the crash. TIA
  14. The last several weeks I have been experiencing server crashes with the error below. I am using pathsubstitution and have real time monitoring set to Auto. I usually dont post unless I have a problem but until now I have enjoyed stable releases for many months, great work keeping the issues down. Version 3.1.16.0 *UPDATE** SERVER LOG: unhandled_c7590b70-4880-4c55-9fd1-bb911c564771.txt server-63601172179.txt
  15. Safari will sometimes stop allowing me to play videos and comes up and says "Unable to play video. Please try again later". resetting it does not seem to fix the error but it will randomly fix it's self after a wile. i can change to Chrome and keep playing videos though. This has happened on two computers so far.
  16. Emby server crashes upon each restart. When I start the server the configuration screen is displaying normally. Cleaning database and Scan Media Library are functioning normally to 100%. When I switch to Browse Library (after san 100%) I see the start-up screen, the latest added media but NO Library Folders. The server crashes immediately or sometimes after the first click on whatever item. I would like to exclude that the new versions (3.0.5911 or 3.0.5912) are the problem and therefore would like to rollback to version 3.0.5882. How do I get it? Latest Log file is attached herewith (zip-file, original is too big) server-63595554609.zip
  17. Ok if your Kodi (Openelec) is crashing during an initial sync I have found a workaround. -Load OpenElec x86 on a laptop or desktop. -Then setup emby addon the way you want it. -Once sync is complete and everything is working run an openelec backup and restore the backup on your pi. The incremental syncs work fine after that. It seems to be just that first sync it does not like. I have done this numerous times and works great. ENJOY
  18. Hello Community, I have installed the recent release Version 3.0.5782.0 on a Raspberry Pi with OSMC Jessie. The Movie-Database is working fine. But when I try to download a movie (I've tried with FF and Google Chrome) the memory usage increases over 80% and the emby-server crashes (emby-server service stops) after maximum 70 MB. The strange is, when I try to download with a android phone the download works and the memory usage stays on about 50%. In the version before I didn't have this issue. Somebody have an idea what is going on?

    Server constantly crashing or hanging

Hi, I've been struggling with getting my emby system setup properly. I had a good setup with mediabrowser but since the emby branding, my system has become increasingly unstable. When I enter my server address remotely, more often than not, I receive no response and need to logon remotely via teamviewer to reboot emby. I have a feeling it is related to the size of the library, since it keeps trying to rescan the library, which spans two drives and 6 TB. I have uploaded all of my recently recorded emby server logs to google drive. Maybe someone here can take a look and hopefully identify something simple that I am doing wrong. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1LHQsfF7SllS3dqS2pqVkU2ZUk&usp=sharing Thanks everyone for all the hard work and time invested in this project. It is a great product so far.

    Emby Process Freezes

Has anyone else had this issue? I run Emby as it's own profile on my iMac. It stays logged in so Emby can be used on our TV's. After a period of time, the process seems to completely freeze, and I cannot connect to the server to watch movies. I have to come upstairs to the iMac and force quit the Emby process in Activity Monitor. Once restarted it works fine for (I think) a day or so, then dies again. I'm now running version 3.0.5724.4, but it was doing this in previous versions too. Anyone? Thanks. I've attached three recent log files. Thanks again! server-63578044800.txt server-63578116287.txt server-63578044796.txt

    FreeNAS plugin crashing daily

I have emby up and running on my home server running FreeNAS. Over the last few weeks emby is crashing at least once daily. Once it crashes, I cannot restart it through the webGUI, I have to go into the jail and manually start it using the command 'service emby-server onestart.' I cleared my logs yesterday and this morning I woke up, the plugin crashed again. My logs are posted below. In case it helps, here are specs on my machine: [a href=http://www.ebay.com/itm/231360168024?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT]Supermicro 836TQ 16 bay chassis[/a] [a href=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FYNSZA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]SanDisk Cruzer 16GB thumb drive[/a] (for FreeNAS OS) [a href=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006GD30UC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1]5 x Noctua 80mm fans [/a] [a href=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DWFQ42I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s04?ie=UTF8&psc=1]Noctua heatsink[/a] [a href=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JDBYE1I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1]Cheap samsung console monitor[/a] [a href=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003NREDC8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]Cheap console mouse and keyboard[/a] [a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182927]Supermicro X10SRL motherboard[/a] [a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117512]Intel Xeon E5 processor E5-1620[/a] [a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145973]8 x HGST Deskstar NAS 6TB hard drives[/a] [a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147382]4 x Samsung 16GB 288-pin DDR4 ECC RAM[/a] [a href=http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10226&cs_id=1022602&p_id=5123&seq=1&format=2]A bunch of monoprice SATA cables[/a] A list of the logs: Here are the two logs labeled "unhandled" Any thoughts/ideas on how to fix this is much appreciated!
  25. Hi! TLDR: Good news: Emby-Server on Rpi2! Bad news: Frequent crashes! Also: Me no understand because of Noob. Been reading up on Emby and thought I might try it on my Raspberry Pi 2 running debian (Well, running OSMC which is based off of Debian Jessie). Easier said than done! I couldn't really find anyone who'd been successful at it, but what the hell! Over at the OSMC forums me and one of the support guys from OSMC played around with it: https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/emby-server-osmc-on-rpi2/6274/ This morning I finally got it working by following the manual installation instructions for linux. Mediainfo was installed already (through apt-get) mono, imagemagick and sqlite3 were installed through aptitude, being careful so as to not accept any solutions that cancelled one of the others out (this was especially tricky with mono). Ffmpeg was built from source (which took ages and ages on the rpi2): sudo aptitude remove ffmpeg cd /usr/src sudo mkdir ffmpeg sudo chown `whoami`:users ffmpeg git clone git://source.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.git ffmpeg cd ffmpeg ./configure make sudo make install and then I changed the config files accordingly and ran with mono MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -ffmpeg “/usr/src/ffmpeg/ffmpeg” -ffprobe “/usr/src/ffmpeg/ffprobe” Finally it was alive! It throws a few errors during startup: Info, ImageMagick, ImageMagick version: ImageMagick 6.8.9-9 Q16 arm 2015-01-05 http://www.imagemagick.org Error, ImageMagick, Error loading webp: *** Error Report *** Version: 3.0.5675.1 Command line: /opt/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -ffmpeg “/usr/src/ffmpeg/ffmpeg” -ffprobe “/usr/src/ffmpeg/ffprobe” Operating system: Unix 3.18.13.1 Processor count: 4 64-Bit OS: False 64-Bit Process: False Program data path: /opt/MediaBrowser/ProgramData-Server Mono: 3.2.8 (Debian 3.2.8+dfsg-10) Application Path: /opt/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe delegate failed `"cwebp" -quiet -q %Q "%i" -o "%o"' @ error/delegate.c/InvokeDelegate/1310 ImageMagickSharp.WandException at ImageMagickSharp.WandCore`1[ImageMagickSharp.MagickWand].CheckError (Boolean status) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at ImageMagickSharp.MagickWand.SaveImage (System.String path) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at Emby.Drawing.ImageMagick.ImageMagickEncoder.TestWebp () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 and Error, HttpServer, Exception loading certificate: /opt/MediaBrowser/ProgramData-Server/ssl/cert_9c31b7884ea5475c8687970fc5996297.pfx *** Error Report *** Version: 3.0.5675.1 Command line: /opt/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -ffmpeg “/usr/src/ffmpeg/ffmpeg” -ffprobe “/usr/src/ffmpeg/ffprobe” Operating system: Unix 3.18.13.1 Processor count: 4 64-Bit OS: False 64-Bit Process: False Program data path: /opt/MediaBrowser/ProgramData-Server Mono: 3.2.8 (Debian 3.2.8+dfsg-10) Application Path: /opt/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe Input data cannot be coded as a valid certificate. The error messages vary slightly but they all look sort of like this: UnhandledExceptionThe task has already completed System.InvalidOperationException at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.AsyncTaskMethodBuilder.SetResult () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at MediaBrowser.Server.Implementations.Persistence.SqliteItemRepository+<UpdatePeople>d__3c.MoveNext () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at (wrapper unbox) MediaBrowser.Server.Implementations.Persistence.SqliteItemRepository/<UpdatePeople>d__3c:MoveNext () at System.Threading.Tasks.AwaiterActionContinuation.Execute () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.ProcessCompleteDelegates () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.Finish () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.ThreadStart () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.Execute () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.TpScheduler.TaskExecuterCallback (System.Object obj) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 Shutting down finalizer thread timed out. Segmentation fault oh and the media library is pointed to a mounted network share (through FStab) I literally have no idea where to go from here, I'm totally new to linux and atm I just feel I've hit a dead end. Has anyone got any suggestions where to go from here? EDIT: Changed command to sudo mono MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -ffmpeg “/usr/local/share/man/man1/ffmpeg.1” -ffprobe “/usr/local/share/man/man1/ffprobe.1” To see if a) sudo would help not to run from source directory but installation directory. Checking the logs I get a whole lot of errors regarding ffprobe "error starting ffprobe" and "error in ffprobe". I enabled debug logging, dunno if that's why I got a more detailed shell output but the latest crash reads: UnhandledException The task has already completed System.InvalidOperationException at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.AsyncTaskMethodBuilder.SetResult () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at MediaBrowser.Server.Implementations.Persistence.SqliteItemRepository+<UpdatePeople>d__3c.MoveNext () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at (wrapper unbox) MediaBrowser.Server.Implementations.Persistence.SqliteItemRepository/<UpdatePeople>d__3c:MoveNext () at System.Threading.Tasks.AwaiterActionContinuation.Execute () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.ProcessCompleteDelegates () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.Finish () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.ThreadStart () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.Execute () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Threading.Tasks.TpScheduler.TaskExecuterCallback (System.Object obj) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 Shutting down finalizer thread timed out.
