    No sound from audio etc.

I've created an audio library and populated it. I can start an audio file and listen on my android device until I pause or disconnect from blue tooth or my phone goes to sleep. After any of those things happen it does play (I know this because the button changes to pause) but there is no audio. I have plugged in headphones with the same result. I am exasperated. If I restart the phone same thing, If I close Emby Android same thing. I have downloaded the file same thing. If I exit Emby Android then log into Emby theater on my PC (not my server) using the same account it will play on the PC. How can I fix this? Is there an Emby Android log I can send you?

    Audio Settings Preventing Playback

I'm getting this issue again where certain movies either won't play or stop after a certain amount of time. Only now everything I own is brand new (My computer is the oldest since I did a complete upgrade of everything in it last July) TV: Roku TV, TCL model 65R625, software version 9.2.2, build 6118-88 Receiver: Dennon model AVRS750H, DTS HD Master/ DTS:X / DTS Neural:X / DTS Virtual:X / Dolby TrueHD / Dolby Atmos / Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization / Dolby Surround / Multichannel Stereo Emby Roku App Beta version 4.0, build 0 Computer: Windows 10 version 1909 build 18363.778 AMD Ryzen 5 3400G processor Gigabyte B450 AORUS M motherboard Realtek® ALC892 codec High Definition Audio 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel Support for S/PDIF Out I'm quite certain that this is an audio issue because when it started happening again, I went back to the original advice given to me of changing the Roku audio setting to anything that didn't say DTS. And it worked, sort of. I was hoping that with all new hardware that this problem wouldn't come up again but it did. When I say "sort of", I mean sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes switching to Dolby Digital gets it to play, and sometimes it doesn't. I haven't checked every title in my library (it's over 700 titles; yes, I know I have a problem) yet, but it seems to be more and more prevalent. Here are some examples of what I did find: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, 4K and Blu Ray, would only play with Roku set to Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus When set to Dolby Digital Plus DTS or Auto Detect it stops before it starts. When set to Dolby Digital DTS it won't even finish Retrieving and causes Emby to completely freeze up Streaming Info: Video codec: HEVC (direct) Audio codec: AC3 (cannot get stats for nerds on any of the DTS settings since they won't even play for a second) Audio channels: 6 Bitrate: 53.35Mb/s Max bitrate: Auto - 110Mb/s Hardware accelerated: No Transcoding progress: 1.84% Transcoding buffer: 1.79% Transcoding speed 11 fps (all the transcoding numbers have been changing as I typed) Transcoding reason: Audio codec not supported Original Media Info: Container: MKV Video Codec: HEVC Video bitrate: 56.35Mb/s Audio codec: TRUEHD Audio bitrate: <???> Audio channels: 8 Galaxy Quest, Blu Ray, plays for 41 seconds then stops on every possible audio setting Streaming Info Video codec: H264 (Direct) Audio codec: AC3 (Direct) Audio channels: 6 Bitrate: 35.08Mb/s Max bitrate: Auto - 110Mb/s Original Media Info: Video codec: H264 Video bitrate: 34.44Mb/s Audio codec: AC3 Audio bitrate: 640Kb/s Audio channels: 6 Adventureland, Blu Ray, only works when set to Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus, otherwise it plays 4 seconds and stops Streaming Info: Video codec: H264 (direct) Audio codec: DTS (direct) when set to Dolby Digital DTS, Dolby Digital Plus DTS, or Auto Detect Audio codec: AC3 when set to Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus Audio channels: 6 Bitrate: 36.36Mb/s Max bitrate: Auto - 110Mb/s Original Media Info: Video codec: H264 Video bitrate: 34.83Mb/s Audio codec: DTS Audio bitrate: 1.536Mb/s Audio channels: 6 So far this issue has only been with movies ripped from Blu Rays and 4K. Identifying MKV Audio

I have ripped some 5.1 audio albums to create MKV files. The files play back correctly. However, I see no way to use Identify to find the album. Even though I have the AudioDB plug-in, only MovieDB, IMDB, etc, are searched. That means that when I am searching for Chicago II (the album by Chicago), it matches to a wresting movie NXT Takeover: Chicago II! Is there a way to tell Emby to search for audio matches and not movie matches? If not, how can I manually update the metadata for audio and not a movie?
  4. My Samsung TV does not support DTS so I use the audio only transcoding feature of Emby. It would be great to set higher bitrates for Audio transcoding or if possible to send a DD+ stream instead. Many thianks.
  5. Hi, I'm trying to play this from Emby 4.4.0.40 Linux to Chromecast ultra using the Android app. When paying it says is transcoding because of the unsupported audio (i'ts ok, Chromecast doesn't support AAC 5.1), my question is, why is Emby transcoding the video too to x264? My server is on a RaspberryPi, so I try to get versions that doesn't need video encoding/conversion, so far I am streaming 4k 5.1 without problems. Is there any configuration to force emby to transcode only the audio whem the problem is audio? I hope that can be achieved with a lot less cpu power than converting video too. Thank you! 6. Hey guys, I am currently having an issue with audio playback while streaming over an internet browser. I tested it on Opera, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, it is all the same. My problem is that I get no audio in some episodes of a show e.g. The Mandalorian season 1 episode 4-8. When I start watching these I have absolutely no audio, but when I exit the playback and again start it at a different point in the episode the audio works fine. The strange thing is that this does not happen for episodes 1-3. They just work fine. Also this issue does not occur when I download the episodes and watch them with e.g. VLC player, neither do they make any problems with the Emby app for Android or iOS. I saw a thread where the same problem was solved with disabling Intel QuickSync but as this issue also occurs on AMD machines I do not assume it is the same solution for me aswell. I rotated the server logs, watched an episode that works fine and then watched an episode that has these issues. The files are attached. Thank you for your support. FFMPEG Log.txt Emby Log.txt
  7. I have another wish. Get better audio quality for audio tracks by using . They're already good but in terms of quality not the best out there. Would it be possible to utilize fdk-aac for the transcoder? Or even better, qaac.

    24-bit audio

Can any Fire TV playback 24-bit Audio? If so what format is required? I can confirm that .flac is not able to play 24-bit....just get noise. 16-bit works fine though.

    Audio/video sync adjustment?

Is it possible to set an audio/video sync adjustment / offset / delay in Emby Web? I'm using Emby Web on a laptop that is playing audio through bluetooth speakers and there is a consistent delay in the audio (audio is behind video by about 500ms or so). I would like to compensate for this by setting an offset/delay to the audio or video. Is this possible? I cannot find a setting anywhere.
  11. Hello, One of my TV shows is defaulting to a non-English language track and I cannot seem to fix it. I have my languages set to English in the settings but it doesn’t seem to help. I refreshed the metadata and also set English in the TV show settings (even though it should have inherited that from the global language/location settings) and it hasn’t helped. Not to try to compare but for reference, I checked how Plex views the same files and it defaults to English. I’ve also had Emby rescan the files to see if it was a glitch. It is doing this in the web client as well as the Roku client. Could anyone please help me figure out what to do to fix this? We also use these files in a playlist and I cannot be changing over to English everytime it switches to the next show. Thanks so much in advance![/size]

    Windows Chrome Audio

So weird little issue. Chrome on Windows (maybe others but haven't tested) sometimes no audio. Quality set to auto emby will play the stream with no audio. A work around is to change the quality from auto to anything else then back to auto and it works. My thoughts are if emby in chrome could detect somehow that no audio is playing and then transcode the audio from the begining as opposed to having to change from auto to something else then back to auto to get the audio to fix itself? I may be wrong so any advice or solution would be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. I have been using emby for about a month and so far so good. I seem to have only one weird problem. There is no audio from my android phone when playing back recorded tv shows. I have tried the android emby app and have tried the android web browser. If I download the show to the phone, no problems, plays fine. Movies and music stream fine to the phone without problem. This only happens when I try to stream recorded tv shows. When I pull up stats for nerds, the transcoding says the audio codec is AAC (direct) and Original media is AAC LC. Live TV plays without a problem as well. Again, the ONLY issue is with the Recorded TV audio, no sound at all. Any ideas of where to look for the issue? Could it be a missing codec on the phone? I have MX Player with the codecs installed on the phone as well. Thanks.
  14. I have a bunch of DVDs ripped that have commentary tracks/alternate audio tracks. I've been trying to replace them with HD video files. Many of these video files do not have the alternate audio tracks attached. IS there a way to copy the audio tracks from the original mkv to the new mkv? (i am aware that they might not sync up 100%
  15. I have a lot of jap anime, I love to just sit back and binge watch series after series, but I have been having the problem of selecting the eng lang, it plays just fine with no issues, but I have all these files marked with default eng but for some reason I still have to select the English track, even though it IS the default language. Not a real issue but it is very frustrating. I have set the server to play the default language and I even went as far as to re-encode the file so that the English audio was not just the default but the first track, but this hasn't solved the issue. Sorry im not tech minded, but I have included an image showing it is the default but it always plays the Japanese track. Thanks in advance

    No main sound when syncing

When I sync a show that's encoded in Dolby Digital+, I can't hear the audio when I play it back in offline mode on my Chromebook running the Android Emby app. I hear small parts, like it's playing just the L/R channels or maybe the rear channels, but no dialogue. I sync at 8 or 12 Mbps quality. I'm on a Pixelbook with the Android Emby app. Is there a way to play the file internally or transcode it to Stereo during Sync?
  17. I have two MKV files that I stream from a Windows emby server to a Raspberry Pi HTML5 client. One of them has perfectly fine audio, while the other has highly distorted audio (like if it was amplified 10 times, then compressed). The audio is distorted only on the Raspberry Pi client. If I read the same video on another client (Android app, or windows web client) the audio is perfect on both files. The Raspberry Pi client uses Chromium 65.0.3325.181 Built on Raspbian , running on Raspbian 9.8. Here are the specs of the file that does not distort the sound Here are the specs of the file that does distort the sound Server configuration : Version 4.1.0.26 (Windows) Dlna (1.0.12) Is there any well-known issues regarding MKV files with distorted audio on specific platforms ? I've seen several threads about this, but it was on Roku (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/28067-audio-distorted-when-playing-1080p-mkvs/) and I'm using the HTML5 client.

    Audio not Working

Hello, I'm having a problem where MKV files with AC3 audio is not playing sound. This happens on W10M. I see there is an old thread about this, but a fix was indicated, so I'm not sure if that was ever implemented. Can anyone help? Thanks, Jason
  19. Hi there Emby Staff. Been a while since I have posted anything on here. Guess that is a good thing, cause Emby has been running buttery smooth..... until now. I am currently using Android TV and long with emby tv version. I want to be able to choose the audio channel I would like to use. Somes of the video default to another language. Which is alright, but i am not able to change it on emby tv? I have tried to go into the setting and see there is a subtitle/audio selection. But its telling me to go to the web app to make the nessary changes. Kinda dumb, but I went to the webapp and change the settings there. I have select prefer audio english and turn off play audio default. I went back to the emby tv app and still playing the wrong audio. I have reboot server and emby tv. and still playing the wrong audio. Is this a bug? Can we have this option added to the emby tv?? Any suggestion and help would be greatly appreciated Monkeyslapper.

    Live TV audio sync

Was just trying out a little live TV on the main PC, watching via Chrome, were it transcodes, and ET, where it direct plays, and in both (and I think on other devices like Fire TV) picture and audio are out of sync. This is on Windows using Nextpvr plus plugin. Would logs help with any possible diagnosis ?
  21. Hello all! I just moved from Subsonic (using DSub on Android mobile) to Emby for my music as well as my videos. And for the most part it is doing pretty well now. However, I noticed that an issue that had been reported for DSub is also currently manifesting itself in the Emby Android app in a very similar manner (with properly tagged and permissioned MP3 files). It has to do with BT metadata. It appears that, in Android 9 Pie, metadata display doesn't work like it used to with previous versions of the OS. Specifically, the song title is duplicated in the album name field now. I am not sure why this is but I think it may be only affecting those with Pie (I have a stock Google Pixel 2). I apologize in advance if this may have been already reported; I tried to find via the forum search but was unsuccessful. I have the most recent version of the Emby Android app as of this post. Many thanks!
  22. Hi Emby Community, New to Emby - finally abandoned Plex after weeks of frustration. Running Emby server on an iMac 5K 2017 with Mojave 10.14.2, and trying to play media using the Apple TV 4K (latest OS and Emby app installed). For some television shows, Emby is identifying the episode's audio track as being: AAC 5.1 - but during playback via Apple TV, audio appears to be coming in as Stereo. Have tested other television series and movies, and those appear to be coming through fine in either 5.1 or even 7.1 in some instances. Is there a setting to stop audio being downmixed and force the native track to be sent through? The video files were all rendered by me using Handbrake and the same settings during the rendering, so I cannot figure out why select files would be downmixed to stereo versus others. Appreciate any insights or advice! Cheers
  23. I'm using emby to stream my music library, and I connect to a JBL Extreme via bluetooth (I get the same issue connecting bluetooth in my Honda Odyssey). Everything works the first time I play a song/album/playlist (including all the items in the album/playlist). However when I switch song/album/playlist from one to another it will stop playing through bluetooth. I can see in the emby app the song is playing, my bluetooth still shows connected, the song progress bar moves and the EQ style bars also move, however no sound comes out. To get sound again I have to quit emby (not minimize), disconnect from bluetooth, reconnect to emby and choose another song/album/playlist. Importantly to note, I do not have this issue in my built in android music player (Google Play via S9+), I also don't have this issue with emby through a web browser and non bluetooth source (like PC audio). This makes it difficult to use dynamically, which otherwise is a nearly perfect interface for playing my library. Look forward to any troubleshooting steps.
  24. I just got a new Sony BRAVIA (55 inch X90F - KD-55X9000F) yesterday and want to use the Emby app on it instead of the old HTPC running WMC and Emby Classic. The TV is running Android TV 7.0 and the Emby Server is currently version 3.5.3.0 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine. The audio system is an old Panasonic one with support for Dolby Digital and DTS and is connected via the optical out from the TV. The HTPC was connected to this system via optical out as well. Videos open fine from the Emby app on the new TV, but all audio is only being passed to the sound system as stereo instead of 5.1 as expected. Opening the same videos via the DLNA server from the TV has the audio pass to the audio system correctly as Dolby or DTS. Playing UHD Blu-rays from my Sony UBP-X700 passes the audio as expected as well. Most of my Blu-ray rips have been encoded as HEVC/H.265 with DTS-HD MA as MKVs, while DVD rips are the same with Dolby Digital or DTS audio. I have also tested using H.264 encoded videos. A log file from playing my rip of Avatar is attached. Any help with getting the digital audio working would be appreciated. ffmpeg-transcode-cc814e6f-523b-4cc3-b874-0d6e62ecf044.txt
  25. Hello, I was wondering how emby works with audio. I was thinking of remuxing some files with 6+ channels, to include a 2 channel track, for users who don't have surround sound. Would Emby detect this track and, use it for those users, or would I have to have a separate file just for 2 channel audio, to avoid transcoding?
