Hi, total scrub over here. I made my server on my old desktop that just died last week (ouch) and created my new server using the same emby connect account on my new desktop. When I go to stream from my apple TV that worked extremely well with my original server on the same internet connection, the apple TV asks me to select a server (the old one or the new one I made). Everytime I select the new one and enter the pin to connect, it gets stuck loading and never loads. Do I need to delete the old server to get this new one working? Because I don't have access to the old desktop that its on anymore. If not, is there anyway to delete it from my new computer? And is this even a problem or is there a problem with my new server? Please help! I need to stream my local library again!!! Update: When connecting through Apple TV, I tried connecting with the emby connect PIN and it gets stuck on loading and then I tried using the specific server address and port (which I made sure was open with my firewall) and it kicked me back to the page asking if it should connect with Emby Connect PIN or server address. This loops on repeat. Help!!2

Hello dears first of all I just want to thank you for this great app that is just amazing ! secondly, I have this problem were emby app on apple tv will crash after playing the video for few seconds, or a mint. it crashes and takes me back to Apple tv home menu. I suspected the files first but when I play the same video on chrome "same PC that has the server" it just works flawlessly. please advice me on what to do or how to troubleshoot to know what is the problem ! thank you !

Hi, After few weeks of introducing myself to emby environment and after I successfully but incompletely migrated from Plex (looking for ways to migrate plex 1000+ collections to nfo tags or whatever) I collected some opinions and thoughts on all that... so here it's part of it concerning emby app for Apple TV. Miss... Refresh I miss some way to refresh active page/app so changes made on server could be seen on Apple TV without having to restart the AppleTV app. Also missing in iOS app. Searching persons I am aware that searching is ongoing feature you're working on to improve so at this point I just want to point out I miss searching for actors in addition to only title searching on Apple TV. Since this is available on other clients and server. Year & Director in movie info pull down while playing movie Though sometimes there is year shown but wrong and it doesn't correspond to date added o release date from metadata, I can't figure out what is it. Show all titles by/with person selected Clicking on person (actor or director) shows is limited titles (around 20) although in some cases there is a lot more and there is no other way to get to them Number of items listed in a library I miss number of items in active library. Filtered or not filtered, favourites or collections. Thumbs View I miss at least an option to view library items as thumbs (fanart/backdrop/backround, whatever it is called). It is somehow supported (unintentionally it seems to me) in mixed libraries but only when primary image is thumb image. So I guess that implicates that it is possible to show movie/tv show images as thumbs and since it is supported in emby server (and it looks great there). The two main reasons I always like to see thumbs rather than posters are: When you browse your libraries "to be inspired" and then to choose a movie to watch thumbs always look more inviting and "describable" than posters. There is just too many cases when there is no posters available or posters look bad or you have to use same DVD collection poster for bunch of Charlie Chaplin short movies for example because individual posters differ so much in quality, design, size and type and that looks strange. And at the same time you can always find or easily make movie background/fanart/thumb which is unlikely with posters if you want it looks decent. Fix... Favorite on/off button does not respond until exit and re-enter Wouldn't it be good....? Collections view When showing different types of collection items inside a collection there is no more info preview feature available because other types are shown as other items below first, main, row. I stumbled upon some discussions about that and it seems that someone had idea to show all mixed up in main row. I don't know about that. It's not bad idea to overcome this problem but I would always rather give up on info preview for usual item list as in emby server and not all in one "endless" row... Titles centered I love centered items list in emby server. When you have 2-3 items listed it looks way better. Especially in mixed content libraries, subfolders etc. Showing collections movie belongs to I think it is already mentioned somewhere as feature request or something. That would be definitely useful: in movie details page, beneath similar/recommended movies, a list of movies from collections a given movie is also part of. Thanks for reading.

Hi, I am a new user (came from Plex). Just got an Apple TV and downloaded the app on the Apple TV and on my Mac. The server is on a hard-drive connected to my Mac. I am trying to access the server through Emby from my Apple TV and it is showing the screen Welcome to Emby. Inserted photo. ​I went through the Enter server Address. ( I tested it on another computer PC - worked just fine). And it does not even show an error screen just loops back to the same "welcome to Emby". I have checked my LAN setting on the Apple TV and reset them, nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Holly

With the latest version of emby on the Apple TV (4th gen) every episodes stops about 5 to maybe 10 seconds (maybe even more) before the video’s real end. Even trying to manually skip to the point of the episode where emby quits the plaback doesnt help. emby shows the correct video length but is just stopping playback too early. This is really annoying as it kills every cliffhanger. Any suggestions?

Hello, all. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or might have a solution: I have four MKV files that play fine on my computer using the Emby app. However, when I try to play the file from the Apple TV Emby app, I see the movie and the chapters. But, if I try and play the movie, all I see it black and no audio. The counter shows that it thinks the movie is playing. Interesting enough, if I go back in and RESUME playback, sometimes it plays fine. Other times, I still get black. Haven't figured out why it works only some times. The four MKVs were all ripped from the same movie. All other movies that I ripped using the same product (MakeMKV) work absolutely fine with Emby Apple TV. There should be nothing special about these four files. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I have videos in Emby that have multiple audio streams. When I choose Select Audio or Subtitles, I can select an alternate stream. However, the default stream always plays even when I select "Play with these selections". I have gone into settings and unchecked the "Always use Default Audio" option. That didn't help. When I restart the server, the "Always use Default Audio" option is checked again. Any idea what is going on and how I can select the desired audio stream? UPDATE: It appears to be related to a single ripped Blu-Ray. I'll check on my end.

This new update has wrecked my Emby Apple TV experience. One simple question....WHY OH WHY did the developers remove the backdrops when I view a movie? There is now a blank backdrop with a lonesome logo and I feel as bored as Helen Keller in an art gallery when viewing my movies. The way Emby USED to utilise backdrops on the Apple TV was glorious. Backdrops for Apple TV was the defining feature for Emby, and is what what made me move to the green side from Plex. Looking at the picture I attached, who in their right mind thinks the new update makes it look better... Is this a simple mistake made by the Emby devs who accidentally removed backdrops? Or is this actually a decision made by the team? Because it is an absolute shocker of a decision if that's the case, and I am on the verge on cancelling my premiere subscription and moving back to Plex if its here to stay. So where did it go? Are you bringing it back? Am I wasting my time if its permanent? Couldn't the devs make an option to turn it on and off? Hopefully I am not the only one who is irate. The new update has surely taken the Apple TV project two steps back. Thanks.

Hello emby team, Thank you so much for an awesome product. I left Plex a few years ago and have never looked back again. My main clients until rather recently have been x2 Minix Android devices running Emby for Android TV. These have been playing all of my content (besides H264 High 10) without any need for transcoding of the video stream. However since I swapped them out for Apple TV units it seems that all of my media requires transcoding. My initial concern regarding this was my h265 content but unless I am reading the logs incorrectly it would seem that even h264 content is being run through ffmpeg. In the H264 sample I've attached, the subtitle is not supported by the apple TV unit but it would seem that in addition to this the server is recoding the video stream as well? Stream mapping: Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (h264 (native) -> h264 (libx264)) Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (copy) Also for your information. Regarding the h265 content, I have run some tests with ffmpeg rewriting the tag with "-tag:v hvc1". This has allowed me to stream the files through iTunes (In mp4 format). Hi, please bring an external player to the Emby Apple TV app, one which plays every file you throw at it without transcoding or remuxing. Infuse and MrMC are good examples how such a player should look like. Maybe you can work together with them? Hello, Can the Top Shelf on Apple TV Emby app be customized? Currently, Top Shelf shows Continue Watching, followed by Latest Media I would prefer to see the Latest Movies, sorted by Release Date in Descending Order

I am currenty having the problem that the content on my server will play fine on the server itself and through my android app, but when played through the apple tv there is no sound to go with the video. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, i have so far deleted and re-installed the server with no luck.

Not too sure if this is a feature request but thought I'd ask anyway. Is it possible to remove the emby logo from the top of the screen on the home page? It's very big on a 55" tv screen and uses up so much screen real estate. I already know I'm using the emby app, don't really think that it's needed? It would be nice if at the very least it could be something that the user can remove? I like all my library icons to be sitting at the top of the screen.

Movies > Genres > Animated When I am in the above category on the ATV (or any genre folder) it also lists items from my tv shows. Is there any way that I can turn this off? When I am in movies all I want is movies not tv shows as well.

Love the plugin! I use it on my two openelec boxes with no issues. However, I just sideloaded Kodi on my Apple TV 4, and when the plugin starts up, it immediately gives me this error: I searched around for other topics regarding this message, and saw a recent thread where a dev posted an alpha build to try, I tried that one and got the same result. Hey Guys! I am having a difficulty in choosing a media streamer... My friend recommended 3 ones, Roku 3, Apple TV and Google Chromecast. I want to enjoy more videos(including the local videos) on my HDTV with the new coming streamer. Which one is the best? Thanks a lot for your help!!!
