My Android devices are not new but would expect if one plays it properly the other will too. Does anyone have similar experience it does say on both direct play. In stats for nerds it has for display mode 1080/60 Android TV doesn’t display that info but in my windows I just remembered I had to set it up to 50hz to have perfect playback. All the other apps play perfectly everything is smooth how it should be. There are no logs on emby server as both direct play.

I went to a computer and logged into the emby server and started playback from there (browser). The audiostream worked fine.

Back to the TV, and switching around between the audiostreams. On rare occasions the not working audiostream would start playing, but I cannot reproduce this. All others worked for the Android application (at least one of them is using the same codec).

Emby server is latest stable, Android application is latest beta (public IP removed- why is that in there?), logs attached.

The Android TV app has no issues with rewinding IPTV Live TV or seeking in-progress recordings.

I know I can tap the right navigation button and it will jump ahead whatever I set (10 seconds, 30 seconds, etc) with every tap but I want it to fast forward at an incrementing speed for as long as I hold down the fast forward button. Or if I'm holding the right navigation button down, I'd like it to keep fast forwarding exponentially until I let up and when I do let up, play resumes at that spot automatically.

Is that doable? (Or can the app do that now and I don't have something configured correctly?)

I think what I'm referring to is similar to this post: 

When you press the Home button on Android, Emby doesn't actually end or time out the current session and just pauses playback instead. This means that if you later reopen the app (even a day later), you're still logged in. This completely bypasses the intended PIN protection and now gives any other user full access to your protected libraries, plus full access to the server configuration settings.

In that previous thread, @Luke mentioned that Emby should automatically time out after 10 minutes, but that's not working as intended. I've confirmed this multiple times on different Android/Google devices. I can press Home and leave the app closed overnight, but when I open Emby again the next day I'm still logged in.

Could we please get clarification on whether this behavior is expected, and if not, when a fix might be implemented? This seems like a significant security concern, especially on shared devices, and it's worked like this for well over a year now as far as I know.

I would rather have TV series instead of Downloads.

I'm using the Emby Android app on my Sony Google TV.

Lately, whenever I watch Dolby Vision content, there is constant micro-stuttering/judder. If I open the Apple TV app to watch the exact same content (4K DV at 23.976 fps), playback is buttery smooth. It seems like a bug has crept in.

Everything runs perfectly smooth in Emby with HDR10 or standard SDR, this issue only happens with Dolby Vision.

Has anyone else run into this or found a fix?

Emby for Android 3.5.55

Android Server version: 4.9.0.60

Chromebook: HP x2 11 (all software up to date)

Issue seems to happen when playing x265/HEVC videos only, when videos opened they play way faster than they should even though speed option is set to x1 Normal.

Problem does not happen if I use Chrome browser on my Chromebook or even if I use the Emby for Android TV app (Navigation of Emby for Android TV app is difficult however).

Is there any way to disable that? There’s really no scenario where I’d want playback to continue once I leave the app, and that wasn't an issue with the old app that was designed for Android TV.

I already have “Video player back button behavior” set to Stop, which correctly stops playback when I press Back. Unless there’s a separate setting for the Home button that I’m missing, I’d expect it to follow the same behavior as the Back button based on that setting’s value.

Am I missing something, or could this be added or adjusted in a future update?

I have an movie, that wont show in 4K. It is 4K as far as I know. And as I understand from mediainfo it is.

Using an nVidia Shield 2019 pro, latest Android universal app and lates Beta server.

I have to navigate into the server settings from the android device and manually start the Convert media and Transfer media tasks, which 'works' but only if the Android client sent the watched states to the server.

I know about the two locations to manage downloads on android:

• The lower middle Downloads button on the home screen that lets you navigate into TV or Movies and play them
• The gear icon next to a Downloads row on the home screen which lets you see conversion progress and manage downloads

I have used Plex Downloads for a long time and it worked great but their recent Android overhaul completely broke the basic functionality (automatically downloading N episodes, and refreshing on reconnect). Emby Downloads playback is overall a better experience except for this syncing issue.

So, in short, there is a problem with the Emby Android app syncing watched states for Downloaded episodes. If the server gets that sync data, that episode is deleted locally, and the next unwatched episode is Converted and Downloaded when scheduled. I have not found any scheduled task which activates syncing watched statuses from Android > Server.

To get Emby Downloads to work I have to:

• Reconnect to the servers network after watching episodes elsewhere
• Connect back to the server in the app using the saved IP config
• Manually mark each episode that was watched on Android as a watched episode on the Server
• Manually delete the downloaded watched episodes on Android
• Manually trigger the Conversion task through server settings

Other info if it matters:

• I have the android client go into airplane mode every night
• I am not using Emby Connect so direct IP connection and no communications with the server while away from the servers LAN
• The success rate of syncing watched status with the server is roughly 20% (2-3 out of every 8-10 watched episodes sync watch states)

Can we get one tiny fix so that it's like when running on a vertical screen or web browser where the list scrolls vertically and most critically, shows all results instead of cutting them off?

I just enabled screen rotation on my phone while horizontal the results are also how I'd like which is non limited and vertically scrolling.

Why is there seemingly special code to detect a TV screen ratio and/or running on a TV and severely limiting the feature for all these years?
