We would like to make a quick announcement that Emby Server 4.8.9 has been released. This is an incremental update over 4.8.8 that had various improvements and fixes.

For those that are curious on how to find the release notes, it is as simple as clicking on the server version on your Emby dashboard. This will bring you to the the release notes and you can scroll through the various versions to see the continual work by the Emby team on each subsequent release.

Is now a good moment and place to notice that until version 4.8.8.0 (not yet downloaded the new one), the release notes and the version is not available for WD PR4100 OS5 ?

And that WD PR4100 is not capable to see if there are updates ? (Never have been capable)

@DarkStar1977Please edit or remove you Dashboard image or flag a mod to update/remove address.

Devs may need to see server log also but may be a platform specific thing also.

The download link under QNAP > Emby Server for QNAP NAS Manual Installation > Intel/AMD 64-bit still seems to link to the old file?

When clicked it asks to save file: emby-server-qnap_4.8.8.0_x86_64.qpkg

not "_4.8.9"?

Is the link updated to the correct file?

I noted this 4.8.8 version seemed to be on all links on that page the service directs you too to update: https://emby.media/download.html

As mentioned above, all of the releases on GitHub are available. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/tag/4.8.9.0

The weblinks and other repositories will eventually catch up. You should be able to manually download and install from GitHub if you need to.

Can't see any link for Unraid.  Is there a link for Unraid anywhere?

Thanks - never had to go to GitHub before to download an update, must have always updated prior to me looking.

How long does the emby link take to refresh to the right version for download?

It varies but I would say at least 48 hours but everyone will start saying something as soon as there is any mention of an update.  Sometimes longs in some cases when something hangs in their build process some platforms just take longer than other as 99% of the time Windows is always first.

Usually can always find releases faster at the source on GitHub.

Is there a way to go back to 4.8.8?  my m3u constantly reloads since upgrading to 4.8.9, 4.8.8 worked really well.

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Any special things we need to think of when updating from 4.7.14 on Synology?
I was postponing updating until more blogs about the changes in 4.8 were released but I guess those won't come anymore.

@CetenI wrote a pretty extensive blog post when 4.8 was released listing out a lot of the changes that were made. In regards to the update, if you are nervous in anyway about the upgrade, it always good practice to backup your server prior to updating and you can always revert back. However, for most people, the update from 4.7 to 4.8 was pretty seamless.

@sross44, I read the blog post about 4.8 and it was indeed extensive but it mentioned other posts about the changes would follow so I held off on updating as it's been a busy period and Emby 4.7 has been very stable for me. I didn't like to risk having an issue with Emby while I had no time to spare otherwise🙂
I'll see if I have some time to update in the coming weeks.

@Cetenwhen you do upgrade, please let us know on how the upgrade goes and feel free to reach out to any of us if you run into any issues (but I don't think you will).
