New Install & Update Process for Synology

Going forward, there is a new procedure for installing and updating Emby Server on Synology. Please follow the instructions on the download page of our website. This will bring the following benefits: 

  • Built with .NET Core (no more mono runtime)
  • Improved support for hardware accelerated transcoding
  • Spk's will be available for download and manual installation like other platforms
  • Spk's for both the stable and beta releases will always be immediately available at the same time as other platforms.

what does this mean for existing backdrops? Currently they are stored as backdrop.mkv in a folder called backdrops for each movie folder.

can please someone can explain me why is so hard to update a software in 2020? lol

what i need to do in a paid software so i can be abled to update it?

and also from when any software out there that have a button "update now " it is not working?

is the version 4.5 in beta?

im ready for your advices...

Update: Sorry @Luke, I realise there are a load of other posts about this in the Synology forum. I guess the upshot is that when you can it would be great to have something either in this blog post or on the download page (at least the point about manually stopping it before manually installing). Thanks!

Hi there, please try the emby server 4.5.1 update and see if that helps.

HI, try shutting down Emby Server, then installing the new version from the website on top of your existing version.
