We're pleased to announce our Emby Theater app is now available in the Mac App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/emby/id992180193?ls=1&mt=8

The app works very well as a desktop app for your Mac as well as an HTPC connected to your TV. Enjoy these screens below and check it out in the app store !

That's great, however, the new Emby app only supports Catalina or higher. Can you possibly  provide a Mac Emby app for earlier OS X versions? Say, as early as El Capitan or Yosemite? Not all of us are using the latest Mac hardware that supports Catalina.

Hi, it's always possible for the future, but it would require a whole different app unfortunately.

Hi Luke, First thanks for all of your effort you put into Emby.

My experience so far in searching Emby on the MacOS App Store are that it is a wrapper of the iOS/iPad client. Mac Mini running MacOS 10.15.15.

Question is will it look more like the screenshots above with more a more "native custom" feeling?

Can this support the apple remote? I've got a Mac Mini from 2012 and an IR remote for it. Would it work for this or could support be added into the app?

Hi, have you given it a try? You'll want to enable the display mode in the app's display settings.

I haven't tried it as the mini is currently running my server and I'd rather not upset the balance of it yet. However when i move the server to another host, I would like to use it as a HTPC. That's why I was asking

Great! Hopefully we'll find Emby in the Vizio app store sooner rather than later.

in terms of codec support, is this Mac app based on a browser engine or it is native? if native, which of the latest codecs are available here (if any different than the browsers)

Hi, we've embedded a custom player that supports a broad range of codecs. It should be able to direct play just about anything.

I'm finding the Emby app for Mac unusable. Selecting any dropdown menu on any page causes the App to hang/loop with the dropdown options flashing (see gif). The only thing you can do to get out of it is to quit the app. Some pages (mostly in Settings) seem to select the first dropdown menu automatically and the app immediately hangs.
I'm running MacOS Catalina 10.15.6.

just found out about the app and noticed the exact same thing as @astrovern

Can I help somehow, creating a bug report / sending detailed logs? Or is this something you're aware of & are already working on a fix?

'Cause Catalina works with 64 bits only I assume

It's actually because the app is a Catalyst app, or a port of their iOS app. Catalyst apps are 10.15 and above only.

I don't see the problem above but I do experience poor (almost unusable but not quite) LiiveTV scrolling performance when compared to the wb browser.
