A new server beta is available, and it's primarily a maintenance release due to our focus on new app development.

 

New Social Media Sharing

Before we begin: this feature does not share any media files, only web pages containing media information.

 

Share your content over Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and more!

When you share, a temporary, public url will be created on your server that will display static information about your media. Here is an example:

As you can see, it looks like just the regular detail screen except that nothing is clickable, or even playable. It is simply an information page. It's a great way to share info about media you enjoy, while promoting Emby at the same time! Let us know what you share!

 

The url's that are generated are time-limited and will expire after 30 days. In a future release we may allow you to customize this. Please note, only the content you share is available through these links, and not the entire library.

 

As always, we understand that not everyone will want this, so it can be disabled per user as desired.

New Now Playing Design

 

The now playing bar has been redesigned to remove clutter and make the most important functions more accessible.

In addition, all sliders throughout the interface have been replaced with newer, sleeker versions that provide previews of where you're seeking to.

Finally, the now playing screen has also been revamped into something you'll be much more likely to want to pull up on a big screen.

New Sony PS4 Dlna Profile

 

A new profile has been added for Ps4 playback. Let us know if you feel any adjustments should be made.

This release is a train wreck for me,  It wont let me play any anything. Had to downgrade to stable for me to do any playback.  

 

Well, its been a good run of solid releases.., had to end some time. Hopefully issues gets fixed soon.

Please report it in detail in the community as that is the best way to see that it gets resolved.

have to agree @Chillout, the run was too good for too long, this one is a mess for me as well, nothing is working properly in the metadata manager for me, i'll post a list of problems shortly @Luke

I switched to beta releases on my server, ran the check for update scheduled task and even restarted my server, but I am still on version 3.0.5641.5. Am I missing something?  Is there some other way I should be updating?

Switched to the new Beta. And I must say I like how it is. No problems playing anything yet.

You mention sharing on Facebook, but I do not see that option at all.  Only Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest, and Tumblr.  Maybe I'm missing something.

Seems to have broken Anime plugin, after update the only meta-data coming up from those sources are images - no series identification etc.

Yeah I don't see any Facebook either. Hope it gets fixed. I use another Meta manager to handle all that for me.

Facebook will only be available on the hosted web client, app.emby.media, once it is updated after the stable release. i will update the posting to mention that.

Anyone with a roku3 player ?  It has stopped working for me a few days ago, finally got around to a server restart - and notice the beta update.  Can anyone confirm that Roku does nto work with this beta ?  I even factory reset my roku - but no avail.

So I am the only person not seeing the update show up on his server? I'm currently on version 3.0.5641.5. My server dashboard shows that I am up to date and I have confirmed that I have enabled beta releases for automatic update.

You need to open a topic in the forum with logs or just download the beta.

Anyone with a roku3 player ?  It has stopped working for me a few days ago, finally got around to a server restart - and notice the beta update.  Can anyone confirm that Roku does nto work with this beta ?  I even factory reset my roku - but no avail.

Not having any issues here.  Roku 3 is used for about 5 hours daily.

I will open a topic.  I am running the Docker version of the server and I think updating that is less trivial than windows, or even a standard Linux install.

Not sure what this means? Using the Emby Web GUI in Chrome browser there is no Facebook button.

I dont see an option for sharing at all.  Version  3.0.5641.4  i also try to update but even under Dev. I dont get the 3.0.5666

I wanted to make a topic on the forums but it's not letting me(when i click submit I get redirected but no topic/post gets made)

 

Since last night's update I am unable to view my libraries in the app on my android phone.

Grab the dev server for a fix. It's happening because there are multiple sync jobs for the same item and same device. It's resolved in dev.
