Emby for Xbox One has been updated with improved video playback. Here are the highlights:

  • Direct play more video formats, including hevc on supported models.
  • Reduced server transcoding decreases the load on your Emby Server machine
  • Pause, rewind and fast-forward live tv
  • Faster video start time

Hopefully the update will help so that when I play my 1080p movies the audio & picture isn't outta sync

I use Emby with the new  HDHomerun Connect Quatro to watch Live TV.   This configuration has been stable until this weekend.

I am now experiencing frequent pauses watching Live TV on my Xbox One using Emby.   Viewing Live TV on my Android phone with Emby app version 2.9.66 remains smooth.

By the way, something about the recent Xbox One update completely broke the Silicondust HDhomerun app.   Maybe related?

Haven't tried this on the Xbox in a while, so do you still need to have internet access to use this?  My son's internet is shut off at 8pm, but I would like to allow him to watch live TV.  Right now, I use a Fire Stick with Emby for this.

Yes you'll be fine.

I just got the Xbox One X and tried streaming a 4K HEVC movie, but it transcodes the file rather than direct play.

I've edited the settings on the app to up the streaming bitrate and other various options that can help "prevent" transcoding, but it still does.

i've tried various files,
