Library scan fails

I moved two mp4 files into my movies library. After that I scan the library.

But these movies do not show up in emby. How can I debug this?

check the log for errors.  are those the actual filenames?

In movies library in emby  like all other movies I uploaded to my server.

Does it appear if you used the search function?  But may need to see the full server log to see if it is mis-identified.

I tried this too.

Non of the two movies appears when searching.

I search bu name and actor.

I just reviewed my movies library in Emby searching the two movies.

they are not to be found.

I checked movie by movie, searched by name, actor name checked in genres.

Can you provide the server log for when they were imported.

That is what I did:

1) I moved the the movies into another directory

2) I re-scanned the libraries

3) I moved the movies back into the directory

4) I re-scanned the library.

Have you looked through your movies to see if it may have been mis-detected as something else?

 

If this happens you wouldn't be able to search by name, you'd just have to eyeball your movie library. Have you tried that?

I checked metadata of each individual file manually.

Edit Metadata.

I set chmod 666 and chown emby:emby.

 

 

Unfortunately same result.

The problem was persisting.

Then I just tried something; I created a new directory and moved the two files into that directory and added the library to emby. 

And now emby sees the movies.

 

The inconvenience is that I have now two Movies Libraries...

 

I just would like to know why. Any thoughts?

And I'm assuming movies1 is accessible?  if so, the dot is likely your issue, there is an ACL assigned to the folder that might be overriding your actual permissions.  https://stackoverflow.com/questions/30594871/what-does-the-dot-at-the-end-of-the-permissions-in-the-output-of-ls-lah-mean

I am having the same issue just noticed it tonight when i added some movies tonight:

 

I have NFS shares for 

Movies

Tv Shows

Music 

Music Videos

 

All shares were working except for the movies folder. I moved a movie from the movie folder to all the others and when i hit scan library it would show up in those other folders and can watch them through Emby.

 

It's only the movie Library that doesn't scan properly, I have all the same permissions as all the other folders in the NFS showing and when i add library all the folders are accessible however it just does not scan the folder. 

Before i removed and tried to add the Movie library again. movies would play no problems, i removed the movie library now, when i add it again it is blank with no movies.

 

Not sure when this started to happen but nothing was changed except for Linux updates and also Emby updates.

Auto Organize: Works by moving from my Qbit Folder into the Movies folder.

NFS is @ /mnt/nfs/ when opening /mnt/nfs all files and folders show up.

Inside Emby Movies are located at /mnt/nfs/Movies With folders in each A-Z.

Music is /mnt/nfs/Music

Tv Shows it /mnt/nf/Tv

 

Permissions on every folder and file in the /mnt/nfs are ****:users - 0770 (-rwxrwx---) as above these permissions worked find always and also Emby/Radarr/Qbit and plugins all can read and write to the folders. it is only the movies folder that Emby does not scan.

 

Hope it is an easy fix.

 

Ok i Just created a Samba Share just for Movies and now they are scanning. The NFS shares are on a Qnap NAS and nothing has been changed on the NAS with file permissions etc. I have checked and all permissions are the same for all Folders inside Multimedia (which music,Tv, Movies etc are all stored)

FIXED--- 2 Fixes

 

Samba was my workaround until i found out what was stopping NFS on mine.

 

I have a QNAP and the thumbnail generation put folder .@__thumb inside every folder that had movies or pictures in it. 

 

Turned off Thumbnail generation in File Station and Media Console, then i SSH into Qnap and ran [~] # find / -name ".@__thumb" -exec rm -r -f '{}' \;

 

This removed all the folders and NFS is back working again.

 

Not sure if you are having the same issue but this was my fix. I did read after every firmware update for Qnap you have to turn it off but i will see when i have to update.
