Unable to Add Collections to Collections

I'm not sure if this feature was removed, or if this is a bug, but I'm unable to add collections to a parent collection anymore.

I.E. "Thor Collection", "Ant-Man Collection" housed under "Marvel Cinematic Collection"

I currently have a "Marvel Cinematic Collection" but the only way to access it is to search my library. It does not appear in the collections category anymore.

If this feature has been removed, I can look into other options, but if it's a bug I wanted to bring to the attention of the development team.

I have a few "nested" collections that do appear in my collections library, so I'm not quite sure what is allowing some and preventing others from displaying.

Thanks, and if this has been covered, I do apologize, the search parameters were quite vague.

Hi, yes this is not officially supported at this time.

By, "at this time" does that imply that it may be added back, or is Emby moving away from this entirely?

Either, or is fine, just wanting to know how I should proceed forward with my libraries.

Thanks for getting back!

There's numerous challenges involved in supporting this, so we can't have it in the user interface until all of those things can be worked out.

Currently you would see all of the collections flattened into a single list, but most would expect to see a hierarchy. Since this cannot be easily thrown in, we had to just remove it for now to avoid user frustration over it.

That post doesn't explain the hierarchy thing.

Are you saying it's still technically possible to nest collections?

Sure have you look a the api, link is at the bottom of the dashboard?  Add ids from one collection to the other.

I wanted to mention to anyone following, or those from the future, I was able to add collections to other collections by manually editing the .xml file in the server's appdata folder. Nothing has exploded yet, so I suppose if you want to achieve this, you can do the same.

I've done this exact thing. The easiest way that I've found is as follows:

1. Edit each movie to remove TheMovieDB Collection # and then lock the movie

2. Delete all the Marvel collections that were created by TheMovieDB (Iron Man, Ant Man, Avengers etc etc)

3. Add all the content you want, manually, to the a newly created Marvel Cinematic Universe collection

4. Add Sort Titles for each movie, so that they appear in the proper chronology. I personally use this site for my own sort order and find it to be perfect

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Xfe--9Wshbb3ru0JplA2PnEwN7mVawazKmhWJjr_wKs/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0

5. Change Collection Sort By to "Title" so that it follows any changes you've made to the Sort Title for perfect chronological sorting

6. Edit Collection and then click Lock to prevent changes unwanted changes to the Collection

- Locking the Collection is the step I just added to my process that seems to have finally gotten me where I want to be. Without this, if I manually upgraded a movie with a new higher bitrate copy etc, it would get removed from the Collection and I would need to manually add it back. By locking the Collection, the content is frozen in place. The downside is, if a piece of content is deleted, it will stay in the Collection and your Movies until you manually delete it (so far as I can tell)
