That's not the latest version of the android mobile app. That looks pretty old. Can you please try the latest version? Thanks.

Does the latest mobile app require a version of Android over 5.1?

Which was it?  Did it work or did it have no sound...?

I'm sorry my mistake, a lot of testing going on (a lot going on in general!)

tested again via firefox on TV

title played WITH sound but performance is not great, it is watchable but only just but i feel overall this is not a solution (and performance may be worse with other titles)

side-loaded android app (not android tv app, i assume its the arm version?)

not playing and no sound, app is stuck and cannot exit no matter what i do, had to power cycle TV

Can you tell me what version of these two apps are installed on the device:

  • Chrome
  • Android system webview

Based on the style of the loading spinner something looks old. We only fall back to that plain gray style on much older rendering engines. Thanks.

Ok,

Chrome wasnt installed, installed it (chrome browser 80.0.3987.149) it then prompted to update "play services" to 20.09.14; which now looks a lot different?!

android system webview is version 39 20170821-arm

i then tried the android tv beta version again, and it just crashes no playback only a black screen and blue circle and general app perfoemance is not great (lagging etc) its now stuck on the black emby screen that says loading with the blue circle

Guys I totally appreciate your help here, but could this be a limitation on the android version in the TV (along with its resources?) I dispise these built in smart tv's as they inevitably become so out of date they are unusable! and OEM support is non existent!

casting to a chromecast connected to this TV from our phones using the android app works beautifully and i think this will be the way to go. I will re-educate those in the household and use this method. I have Emby premiere I don't think i will exceed the device limit

I'm now going to reset the android part of the TV and leave it unconfigured its totally useless!

Thank you all for your attempts!

is that the newest available? Install the latest which i think is 80, and then the mobile app will be like a whole new experience.

Well assuming you downloaded the correct architecture, maybe there just isn't' an update for your device then.
