How to restore from People backup

Hey guys,

 

I have a question what is the correct way to restore from "People backup and restore".

I used "Backup/Restore People and Artist Metadata from named person folder structure (Legacy Emby Style)", copied the folders to another Emby-Server and clicked on full restore. In the logs i can see the restore process is running without errors. If I look into the movies the actors still have now pictures or data. What else is to do that a full restore is successfull?

@@paddy75 in general that's the way to go. Have you verified that images and people.xml files exist in your backup?

yes, they are in the backup folders. Only images are not present from time to time when there is no in the movie database or tvdb.

Next question is what exactly is happen when the task "people backup" is running. I think normaly a incremental backup is running. I changed some people but when the task runs, this people was not included in the backup. Only when i run a full backup the backup-folder got the new content.

Incremental backup was the plan and i'm sure this was working already. So either Emby or myself broke this functionality. I will look into it.

Time has come to consolidate/unify my Actor images as they've been all over the place. Been doin' some tests with portable instance before moving to my main collection, using TMM backend/Emby frontend (in full offline mode, cutting-off internet connection while importing): while for movies it works great, some issues occurred on TV Shows resulting in not all Actor images being populated, guess due to Emby server internal processes, however hopefully it can be sorted out, as all the data is already there, I suppose it's just a matter of parsing same.

Will be using Band of Brothers as an example.

Once scraped in TMM, all series metadata/artwork DLed and filled properly:

 Actors Damien Lewis -> Peter O'Meara listed at Series level, with additional actors listed under respective Episodes (Let's use Simon Pegg):

ALL Actor images are stored in .actors subfolder under Series folder:

NFO's are written for both Series and Episodes, and are read by Emby and all metadata populated, with blank actor images, naturally.

Series level, Lewis -> O'Meara:

Episode 1, with Simon Pegg:

Upon running People Backup Full Restore of People:

all the Actors on Series level get populated (Lewis -> O'Meara):

However, no other Actor listed under any Episode (Simon Pegg) image gets populated:

although it is found in the Database, as per log (among others):

and images being present in the .actors subfolder, as visible above, they just don't get their images created/written.

Hopefully plugin can be rewritten to include also those Actors, if found in DB to look at .actors subfolder and process accordingly.
