Hi.  It sounds like either the address is incorrect or a firewall is blocking access.

Have you tried entering the address manually?  Are you sure it is correct?

You would need to look at your firewall rules and configuration.

Using that exact same address, can you connect from your phone or another PC (other than the one the server is on)?

Are you trying to use SSL?  If so, have you properly configured your certificate?

Third party firewalls usually have to have rules manually added unlike Windows firewall.

I am new to Emby. I like what I see but I need to get my TV client to access the server.

My Emby server is on MacOS Catalina. I have no difficulty connecting to the server from my iphone and ipad Emby clients over home wi-fi. The emby client quickly discovers the server. I have TCL Roku TV running ver 1.17 Build 6 emby client on the same wireless network. TCL can not discover the server. When I enter the IP address manually, it still can not find the server. On my MacOS firewall, I opened UDP port 7359. I have Avast security running. But I assume if emby client on ipad can discover the server, Avast security is not blocking the the access.

I tried to get to logfile on TCL/Roku client but I can not get to configuration menu.

You need to ensure port tcp 8096 and 8920 or whatever port you may have changed in your setup are allowed access in the firewall.

Both 8096 and 8920 ports are open. Otherwise Ipad and iphone wont be able to connect either, right?

I uninstalled Avast security. But no change in Roku's ability to discover or connect to the server.

That is not a current version for our app.  Can you please confirm that in the app settings page?

Answer to Luke:

a) Yes, all of the connections are on single internal network on one router.

Iphone and Ipad clients work if "Allow Remote connection to this Emby server" is checked. They do not work if I uncheck this. This should provide some hint of where the issue is.

See the photo attached about the Media server on TCL Roku.

Thank you. That fixed the issue.

It would be nice if you can remove obsolete app from Roku store.

I was about to switch to plex in desperation. But your superior support has kept me with Emby.

I guess technically it would still work if you were running a really old version of Media Browser server.  For all those people that refuse to update.
