App unlock restricted to device or server?

Hi all,

according to the Emby Premiere Feature Matrix there are functionalities that can be unlocked (App Unlock). If I do this with my - let's say IOS device - will the same feature be also be unlocked for my Android Device or second IOS device? With other words - is the app unlock restricted to the one device I am doing the unlock or does this unlock that feature for all devices that connect to my emby server?

Thanks!
Markus

Hi.  No the unlock is an "app" unlock so it unlocks that app on that platform for that platform user (i.e. Apple, Google, etc.).

So, if you purchase the iOS app unlock then the iOS app will be unlocked for any iOS device logged in as that same Apple user (just like any other app purchase on the platform).

The Android app would need to be purchased separately.

All the apps are included in Premiere.

Thanks.

Okay so if I unlock the IOS version, I can basically unlock on all of my IOS devices with the same appleID.

How about for Android and FireTV?  If I unlock the FireTV Emby app, will I be able to unlock on my Samsung Note 10?  Or does the Android platform count as different from Amazon?

Hi, that would be two different platforms as the unlock is tied to the store account. This is where Emby Premiere comes in handy. Thanks !

Got it.

Now for the Emby Premiere, I am currently using QNAP and moving my things to VM or Docker soon.  Would I need to transfer the key over (the server will be in the same house, same IP and only 1 server will be activated).

Lastly Luke, please clarify for everyone's benefit.  After reading reddit, Googling about Emby Premiere, I am getting conflicting information on the term of Lifetime.  Some say it is valid for at least 24 months or within the life span of the Emby Server version 3.x.  Meaning if there is an Emby 4.x, then the license do not apply there.  Just asking clarification on the TOS.

Much appereciate.  BTW, I just tried Plex on docker.  God what a pain compared to Emby to setup and not much control.  I remember now why I moved from Plex to Emby.  I am not interested in transferring to Jellyfin either.

Please use our KB as the definitive source for answers here instead of internet discussions (which could be old or just plain incorrect) :).
