Checkbox to hide Premieres from Next Up TV

The new "New Premieres" row is great but it would be even better if there was an advanced option to tick a box that "hid" Premieres from the "Next Up TV" row.

In other words, "Next Up TV" would then only contain episodes from seasons that you were already watching while "New Premieres" would include all the shows that were ready for you to watch a new season. This would mean that "Next Up TV" was less cluttered and only showed Next Up episodes in your current season.

Hope that makes sense.

Hi.  It makes some sense but I wouldn't want an option to govern this.  We should just decide one way or the other.  My initial feeling is that people want to see ALL next up items in their next up row so that's why it is that way now.

If enough people think otherwise, we can reconsider.

Thanks.

Yes, I see what you mean but on my setup at least the New Premieres row is directly underneath the Next Up row and of course everything is duplicated (i.e. by definition every show in the Premieres row is already in the Next Up row above.) To me it looks untidy and because I often like to watch to the end of a season and then start watching a different show it means I have to scroll past lots of Premieres in the Next Up row to get to something new I want to carry on watching.

Of course not everyone is as OCD as me  :D  so as you say it'll be interesting to see if anyone else thinks it would be useful option.

The same issue exists with "Continue Watching".  If you partially watch an episode then that episode will be in both Continue Watching and Next Up.  This is correct (even if it causes duplication) because it satisfies the criteria for both and the issue is that, when people are focused on looking for one thing (like the next up episode), they sometimes will not even notice that thing if it exists in a different place than they are looking and think something is broken or it is missing from where it should be.

Agreed and, although I rarely have anything in "Continue Watching", for me the option to hide anything in Next Up that was already in Continue Watching would be good. Now that you mention it I had noticed this behaviour before but I guess it's much more noticeable with Premieres where there are 11 duplicates shows on the next row rather than just one duplicate in Continue.

I believe there's already work in progress to be able to manually hide episodes/shows from Next Up so perhaps once that is coded it would be fairly trivial to have a rule based hide option based on already being in Continue/Premieres (if anyone else thought it would be useful too.)
