Can someone explain what i am missing or this is normal behavior?

Hi there, if you're playing from the web app, web browsers do not support HEVC and this will require server transcoding. This can tax your machine pretty hard. Does this answer your question?

Hello,

Thank you for the quick response.

Can i setup VLC player as external player to test this?

I have also noticed the same behavior when i stream on LG oled55b8pla.

Web apps can't launch programs such as Vlc, so no, you can't. But you can do that with our Emby Theater app:

https://emby.media/emby-theater.html

Emby Theater will support HEVC directly so you wouldn't even need the external player.

Why i have the problems on LG TV EMBY app - cat this be a network problem?

There could be many variables so you would need to post server and ffmpegs for when the media was played.  It the media direct playing or transcoding?  But best guess would be a bitrate limit on the TV itself.

Looking here shows a 50Mbps limit for that media type.

There is noting to test you need to find the documentation of your tv models limitations.  If the TV actually has a 50Mps limit applied it would be a limitation applied in the TV webOS software.

So do you have 4K media under a bitrate of 50Mbps to test with?  And does the same thing happen?  When still need to know how the media is being played.

After I have installed Emby Theater the movie with Bitrate 52,930 kbps with which I have problems on LG TV OLED C8 now runs smooth without problems.

I have tested with file which have Bitrate  ~ 60 Mbps and there was a small buffering in some moments which makes me think that the problem is really with TV that the problem can be with Web OS limits as you mentioned.

I play this movie using transcoding.

I will do some additional test tonight.

I am planning to buy Nvidia shield TV 2017 and to use it as Emby server – is this a good idea?

When you are referring to clients/apps you can run into high bitrate issues.  If you do a little research, high bitrates items were never meant to be streamed, there were meant for access via HDMI.  But every device will have a different threshold.

if i understand your answer correctly - Isn't it better idea then to use Nvidia shield TV 2017 connected with HDMI to TV?

Ask long as the system, hdd, network Emby is installed on can maintain the requested media.
