gtuf1 1
Anybody get this to work through sideloading? Any plans on making Emby compatible with the Quest. Would be an incredible feature.
Luke 37046
HI there, we have not build any specific support for this, although I agree it's a great idea for the future. thanks !
gtuf1 1
Actually, got it working through Kodi after sideloading Kodi. Not quite as good as the Android solo app, but it’ll do for now!

Daithi 1
@@gtuf1 Have you tried SKYBOX VR Video Player from the official Oculus Quest store yet? The player website has the Emby logo on their homepage: https://skybox.xyz/en/ It can access Emby libraries but no metadata unfortunately. The web experience and android app are fairly broken (sorry, can't remember how, it was one of the first things I sideloaded), haven't tried via Kodi yet though.

Kianouch 0
Would there be a way to watch 3D movies from Emby on the PC with the Oculus Link (or 3rd party) USB cable ? That way I can have my computer's sound :-)

Actually in the meantime, I found out how it... works. And without the cable, with WiFi. Install Virtual Desktop on the Quest, connect it to your computer and... well it works, job done The app supports SBS and anaglyph 3D. You just play the movie with Emby on your computer and Virtual Desktop streams it to the Oculus Quest. Then you look down the screen with the Quest, click on either SBS or anaglyph and there it is (though there is no option to chose the anaglyph colors, so either they're the "good" one or it won't work, but for SBS top/top or side/side it works just fine) Edited October 16, 2020 by Kianouch

Kianouch 0
I just tried the normal Android app sideloaded with SideQuest. It works but I did not find a way to go full screen nor 3D. Edit : same for Android TV app. Looks like normal Android APKs are viewed as "channels" by the Quest. Edited January 15, 2021 by Kianouch

Kianouch 0
The app cannot be in Steam as that would require a PC. It should be in the Oculus store, eventually App Lab. It could be provided as a separate APK but that would be far from ideal as it would remain in the section for unknow sources app (no icon in the App menu..., as in this example : https://forums.oculusvr.com/t5/Oculus-Quest-2-and-Quest/Cannot-find-quot-unknown-Sources-quot/m-p/858802/highlight/true#M34585 ) Edited April 9, 2022 by Kianouch
nodiaque 31
But that would lock it for Oculus. If they make it steam or something, it then can work for any VR headset.
