Where is the detail page of a music file?

I'd like to see info about a music file like I can with a movie file (see screenshot) but I can't find how. When I click a track in a music library it just plays and there is nothing in the contextual menu of the track that give this kind of informations.

Am I missing something?

No, you are not missing anything.  From a user-interface standpoint, there is no metadata to see for an individual audio file so we don't display a detail page for them.

Okay, thanks. Is there a way I can see the path of an audio file then? The use case is that I have duplicate albums and want to delete one in particular, but they look the same in the interface.

Also, wouldn't the codec / bitrate / channels be interesting to view for audio files ?

Yes, use the Metadata Manager with the web app.

Maybe within an admin interface but not an end-user facing one.  People just want the music to play :).

Actually the page I was looking for already exists. When a song is in search results, clicking on the title loads this URL:

/index.html#!/itemdetails.html?id=45133&serverId=3ad46a13a6094db1a9b1c9b9c5f87be5

It is only a matter of showing the link somewhere in album view, maybe in the song contextual menu ? Or a little "informations" icon like TV shows episodes (in season view)?

As for

People just want the music to play

... couldn't we say this also for movies and such? I don't see your point here. Why would music metadata be less important than other media types?

Thanks.

I would consider that a bug in the web app.

I don't believe so because movies and videos usually have a lot of metadata associated with them whereas individual songs usually don't have any.

While you were answering I also found that this page can be accessed through music dynamic lists like "Frequently played", "Recently played", "Favourite songs".

Imho this is very useful to music nerds who have several formats and bitrates (MP3 320 / Flac / WAV) or just want to know what is the path of a song, you should promote it rather than hiding it as it already exists. Emby does a great job as a music player for large collections, and since you support music libraries this should be a quick-win feature.

That said, I understand the UI space is expensive (and complex with all those clients) and this isn't a killer feature ;)

That's not when you click on the poster, only on the title text. I think it's OK.
