nmbrg 3
Is there no emby player for mac os x? how do people use emby when on mac?
levander 96
There is no dedicated emby mac os player, only web app/server. I am Mac/Apple user and I noticed support for Apple products are slightly neglected (for example OSX server betas are usually late or non existent) probably because it has been estimated that majority of emby users are using Windows (and obviously developers). Anyway, I think iOS app is really good. Apple TV seems the worst. (I am comparing only those I use)
nmbrg 3
Ok, then emby is a no go for me until they decide to join the 21th century. thanks for the info!
levander 96
Well, it depends what you need. I feel like all media servers at the moment are from previous century but emby is far better than the rest for what I need (database/metadata).
nmbrg 3
i dont disagree with you on that they are all from the previous century. but i find plex to have more of the features i need. and works on more devices. and after trying emby for a short while i found out that emby has more issues than plex (issues with adding trailers when language set to something else than english is one thing) but then they both have lots of common issues, like hw transcoding not working on windows. but thats more of a ffdshow/windows thing than emby/plex issue. anyhow, wont be comming back to emby in a while. way to many issues and lacking of features. that will take years of developing to complete. WilhelmStroker 96
You could of course create topics about the issues you are seeing and post in the feature requests section about the things you want to see changed. Unlike Plex, the Emby devs are very responsive.
levander 96
That trailer problem seems fixable (or so it seems to me). 98% movies I have are pre 2000, so trailer features that any media server is offering at this time is no of interest to me, I have to get local trailers myself anyway. Developers are dedicated and responsive. So although there is no ‘emby manifesto’ you can get the idea after a while what it would say. Unlike Plex.
