dcol 165 Posted April 20, 2019 Share Posted April 20, 2019 (edited) Ever since version 4.1.0.26 was installed, every TV show that is imported into the library is getting the incorrect metadata. My actual recordings are done in NextPVR and I use the plugin. MCEbuddy converts the show and then sends it to the Library. That operation is being done correctly. But Emby retrieves incorrect info about the show and displays other show information in the library. As an example, I recorded 'The Dead Files'. Emby turns every show into a show called 'My Fighting Season'. I don't even know what that show is or where it came from. If I play the show, the correct show plays, just all the metadata is wrong. After unchecking all the metadata sources, I get no data in the show anymore. That is unacceptable. Not sure if that is a problem or not The shows that are experiencing the issue have S00 as the season number. So what has changed in 4.1.0.26 is what Emby is passing to the metadata providers. if there is no Season and Episode in the file name, it just picks arbitrary data. A lot of shows do not have season and episode data in the file name. Sometimes, just the date or episode title. But it use to work before 4.1.0.26. dcol 165 Posted April 20, 2019 Author Share Posted April 20, 2019 Ok easy pick any video and name it 'The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell - S00 - - 04.19.18 you will see the wrong metatdata Then do it again using this - 'The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell - SE09E80 - - 04.19.18' Then it get the correct metadata. The way this show is named has not changed in ages. Worked fine before 4.1.0.26 here's another one that works differently now. The Dead Files 2019_04_18_18_00_00 - Revealed Deranged - Falconer, New York Gets the wrong metadata. These special episodes have no season and episode number . Emby still picks up 'My Fighting Season' as the metadata and did not consider the nfo supplied by MCEbuddy. here is the file name - 'CNN Newsroom With Ana Cabrera - SE00 - - 04.20.13' As I said earlier, not every show has season/episode info There's something wrong here guys! Emby has no method to automatically find metadata on shows that Emby didn't record. You I can go through and manually identify and correct metadata issue, but I shouldn't have to do that except in rare cases. I just lost all the metadata for some shows I manually added to the library when I did a library scan for missing metadata. Can I just do a master refresh of the entire database? I initially did that because the images were changing, but I really don't care about that anymore. After I moved the show up one level in the library, the metadata came back, but there is still a problem with the wrong metadata when the upper directory is 'Season' Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You are correct, there is no available metadata for that show, which I expect. But why now all of a sudden does having shows under the subfolder 'Season' cause issues. That is a new issue. I can change that, I just need to know what to use for shows that have no season info. This needs to be fixed because it is unpredictable which shows with have season info. The case of 'The Dead Files' is one such example. Their regular season will have season info, but now they are doing remakes called 'Revisited' which do not have season info. How are we to handle a show that has both. Another example are other shows on The Travel Channel. They are notorious for having special 'non season' episodes of their regular shows. And this is only an issue for NextPVR doing the recordings and sending the shows to the library. When Emby records a show it also uses the 'Season' folder sometimes, but it also gets all the metadata at the same time, so it is there.
