My synology cann't download the App due to poor connection, always fails at 10%.

Is there any way I can download the Emby server and Install it on the synology manually?

Hello @@rick008

If there is a connectivity problem between 'you' and 'us', then this problem will likely exist regardless of approach.

Please PM me your current public IP address, so I can run some diagnostics and see what/where the issue is.

Thanks for replying. The difference between approaches is whether download can continue or not.

Now this approach can only from beginning if it fails even 99% finished.

Why cant you afford the file for install?

BTW,I am in China,so the connection is poor for me.

Yes, from China, tried many times, cannot upgrade from package source due to poor connection to serve. Indeed need to install manually.

Could you please release .spk file? Thanks.

I am going to bump this thread because I am also in china and as of for the last 5 months all https based connections are blocked so I suggest you guys change the repo to http based because the synocommunity repo has no issues at all. My emby server is version 3.2 or 3.5 and I cant even use your android app because I cant update the server.

I tried to fix the issue my self and I uninstalled emby so that I could reinstall it thinking it would work. And the package won't even download. Luckily I have my sonarr database still and kodi but I prefer using emby much more. If you guys need someone to test anything here in china let me know.

I am on latest update from synology DSM.

100MB fiber connection.

DS718+ upgraded ram to 8gb

................................

Synology community repo & normal synology package center are both working fine without any issues here. I believe this is true because of it being HTTP and not HTTPS.

..........................................

I want to try and clear the cache completely of the package can any tell me what to delete if I login to ssh and look through because after uninstalling the package I can no longer find its temp files in /var/package

@@FrostByte are you also on a ds718+ by any chance do you have a direct repository link that I can use to add to my list of repositories to see if I get a better response then just the back synology.emby.media one

@@Luke should I open a different thread that states that your server is inaccessible from china because it is behind https and you guys are losing a lot of customers because of this

@@Luke well it didnt matter if I made a new thread or not. I got no response in 48 hours. Guess I am stuck using plex because at least their service allows me to manually download the .spk then install.

Hello All

I'm going to take a look at this, so just standby - no need to throw rocks at us, we're not the ones blocking https access.

We are looking at adding Emby Server to the Synology's App Store, dialogue is taking place.

However, there are a number of considerations, both technical and otherwise that need to be worked through as part of the process.

that sounds like great news @solabc16  if it was added to synology main package repo or even the community repo that would help out the people in china a lot.   is there anyway that we can build our own .spk in the mean time while we wait.   for  main different versions (arm6 , arm7 , x32, x64, )

If that can make feel people in China any better, France is not better served ! Updates are sometimes impossible as well !

In Paris I am OK (with fiber) but in Brittany where I have the same DS416 configuration (with DSL) the download stalls generally at 30%, I finally chose to go from automatic update to no update, I have 4.2 and will have to live with it until Emby chooses:

-  to invest in a server in Europe,

-  ask Synology to host their update,

-  or give us access to the emby program to be downloaded manually from the emby sites and loaded manually as well on Synology NAS.

Until that happens, I have one question:

can I extract the update file from my server in Paris and use it to update my server in Brittany ? I should mention that I am not a Linux expert at all...

Thanks for your reply

Merci beaucoup
