tequilaparrothead 2
One thing that I have noticed in this last go round is that when trying to install Emby before anything else, the Emby installer this time says MediaBrowswer.ServerInstallment Setup and tries to install NET Framework 4.6 and I don't think I had seen this version in my prior dealings. As I recall, I kept seeing like NET 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and 4.7....not sure if this means anything. At this point, I am still trying to reach the point in my updates where the Emby installation will go thru. Happy2Play 8249
Holy cow, that list is mostly non MS software. Wouldn't hurt to remove all the HP, Cyberlink, Lightspeed, PC-Doctor, TopSpeed stuff. Basically get it back to just MS windows. I'm not even sure you can clean that up properly as it's full of stuff. Your system restore has everything but the kitchen sink installed. Typically preinstalled manufacture system bloatware.
tequilaparrothead 2
So I am just part way thru install all of these Windows updates once again. I finally made it to where the Emby Installer was supposedly able to install Emby 4.0. When I click on EmbyServer to open it, the Emby 4.0 program won't start at all. This just isn't going to work on my computer. Thanks for trying to help guys!
CBers 6766
IMO, FWIW, I'd download and install the latest Windows 10 ISO and worry about the graphics card afterwards. I know W10 is a big change from W7, but you'll get used to it after a while, plus it's more future-proof and faster. How much RAM does the PC have? Just a thought.

Or if even when you get used to it don't like the menu system you add "Classic Shell" to it . I still use this on my W7 computers because I prefer the look/feel of the W7 menu system. tequilaparrothead 2
Luke...I was never able to solve the issue. Old versions worked great. Any update from 4.0 onward never worked for me.I just finally gave up. Just for kicks, I just tried it again today and same result. tequilaparrothead 2
Nope...not after the prior W10 attempts that I had already talked about in the thread. This PC will forever be a W7 machine...even if that eventually means just moving it to my home theater room and using it to run MusicBee to play my music instead of a server. Besides, the other servers like Plex and others that I tried work fine on W7. "Upgrading" to W10 is not worth it for me if that is the cost required to use Emby. CBers 6766
OK, if you're unwilling to contemplate Windows 10, which is rather short-sighted, get a Windows 7 ISO and use that, rather than what you're currently using to restore from. I look after 4 people's Emby servers and they all still run Windows 7 without any issues. They were all built from a Windows 7 ISO downloaded from Microsoft. If you have truly given up, then that's fine, but Emby is inordinately times better than Plex.
tequilaparrothead 2
Well, after having no luck and giving up, I got curious as time passed and downloaded version 4.1.1.0 and tried it. Something must have updated/changed that was causing the problem because now Emby suddenly works again for me. Imagine that.

tequilaparrothead 2
And you're still on Windows 7? Absolutely. This PC will go to it's grave as a W7 machine. Nothing knowingly changed on my PC. Not sure if there was something in one of the Emby updates that solved whatever was causing the problem, but it magically worked after deleting all Emby from my PC for over 2 months and then downloaded 4.1.1.0 and shazam. CBers 6766
Yes, it has SP1....had it before my Emby problems ever started. Time to think about upgrading to Windows 10, with the end of support for Windows 7 in January 2020
