Movie folder displaying the folders added to it

I have been using emby for years as a movie server  I have a server setup on a PC in my media rack and i am running the Win7 WMC emby plugin.

I have added two (2) different folders to my movie library.   For years, when i opened the movie folder it would jump into all the movies from both folders as it should.   Now, when i access movies, it shows two (2) subfolders in there.  How do i get it back to one bucket of movies.  This seem to have happened with an update.  Im currently running 4.0.1.0.

I want my emby to just jump into the bucket of movies as it used to.   It seems to do this on the web interface and app.

HELP please!!!!!

PS.  and the time at the bottom left keeps displaying 12:00.

i attached a photo showing what it is doing now and what my settings have been for years.

You did not post your folder structure of how you have saved your movies.

With the update to version 4.0.1.0 there have been issues with libraries content = movies and you can find more out about it by searching for "Folder View" or "Legacy Browsing". Since I run a similar setup to yours I also had to install the EMC version 3.317 the beta version.

Finally I changed all my libraries content = Movies to content = Mixed to get my EMC views back to the way they were under server version 3.5.3.

I finally figured it out.  I had to turn OFF Legacy browsing.  This feature must have changed recently, because i have had it checked for years and now it displays differently.  All i did was un-check the box and it works.  I attached a photo of the old setting.  Just un-check this box and viola!  And I am using 4.0.1.0.  Thanks for your help!

It tells me you are not using the latest EMC install version 3.317 because that one no longer has the Legacy view settings and fixes a few other problems. Version 3.317 is beta but almost ready to become stable and most of us here use that version now.

Hmmm,

I'm running the latest EMC beta (3.0.317) and Server (4.0.1.0) and am seeing this on some but not all from the EHS.

For example, in the CONCERTS I see the HDD instead of the "Newest Items" :

Yet others do NOT display this odd behavior:

5c5ca45dcc07b_20190207_152205.jpg

Then, if I click on CONCERTS to go into that I am given the individual HDD instead of the bucket of CONCERT videos:

I do not have the Legacy Browsing option since I am on the Beta of EMC.  This all worked and displayed fine BEFORE the Server and EMC updates.  How can I get this corrected?

BTW, my files structure for everything is the same, so the Concerts folders should behave no differently than the Movie folders.

This is a wild guess but worth the exploration. Take a small Music library and recreate it but this time use Content = Mixed rather then Music and see if that solves your problem. It did for me in the Movie libraries.

I am using the same folder structure and metadata and images except disc.* and the 00001.jpg. If your documentary library is set for content = mixed you could quickly copy some concert folders there and do a rescan, because I am sure your documentary library is set to content = mixed. At least mine was and everything in there worked as it did before.

T H A N K S  !!!!!

You got me started on the right path.  I DELETED the entire Concerts library and rebuilt it, but this time instead of labeling it "Mixed Content", I labeled it as "Movies".  I added back all the locations and PRESTO !   It now displays normally again.

THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have one last issue left from this new SW update that has yet to be addressed at this time......When I add a new movie, it does not show up on the EHS.  You got a suggestion for that ???

First I can share what I run as it does not have the issue with NEW movies NOT showing up in the recently added part of the EHS just below the section that lists the links for the different libraries.

1. I am running genuine Windows 7 on a plain vanilla Intel NUC PC with the initial WMC from MS, no  VMs or other sessions.

2. Latest server and EMC versions plus latest Throg's themes.

Finally after starting EMC you may want to go through all the configuration settings and see if there is something ticked that sorts the recently added content (RAL) by a different sort option then dates descending (I think). Anyhow that would be my final guess otherwise ask @@throgmorton for suggestions why newly added movies don't appear in the RAL.

I know this is a pain not having RALs displayed as I rely upon that entry heavily as I do a quick scan of what to watch.

I don't think it is related to a theme.  I have switched to Classic and Chocolate themes and they too do NOT show new movies added to the server anymore since the new SW updates.  I looked at the configuration settings on EMC, but cannot find anything like that.  Also, the movies which do appear on the EHS are the latest additions just BEFORE the SW update.  Any movie added AFTER the SW update no longer shows up on the EHS.

So I still do not know if this is an issue with the Server or EMC.....

In all honesty.....i will not be updating the server or the WMC plugin.  in fact, i shut auto-updates off.  this program is working EXACTLY how i want it to.   It strictly a movie server/player for my home automation and control system.  Its perfect as is.  Thanks for the help.   Ill keep an eye on the folder issues i see threading along here.

Cheers!

I get what you are saying and doing. For me it was necessary to update to the latest EMC version as my Blu-ray folders were not detected properly and none of them would launch PDVD as an external player as all Blu-ray folders were detected as H.264 rather then BDs.

I also have shut off auto updates as server version 4.0.2.9 introduced an error in the content = mixed and no longer showed folders with a single BDMV folder in one subfolder and a single MKV file in another subfolder. This has been verified and promised to be corrected in the next version.

Hind side being 20/20 I might have stayed with server version 3.5.3 and EMC 3.07 as that combination worked just the way I liked it for my home theater. On the other hand the library scans are lightning fast now after the initial scan.

Hope your setup will stay as you wished it.

I had this same issue. NOT using Legacy Browsing. The beta update solved it for me. No need to switch movies and TV to mixed content.
