I should have some time by the time v5 is out but it will only be lightly tested as I am not an Emby user.  Better to push Emby dev if you want stability.

Not sure. Could be end of year before Emby updates. Past experience says 'don't hold your breath'

Our past release period was (I believe) the longest in our history at just under 4 months.

That is thread is just a case of Emby having stale data. It just needed to be set to refresh it's guide soon after NextPVR updated it's guide. (be ideal if there was some URL we could call or something, to tell Emby to refresh it's guide).

If it didn't work for you, I'm sure it's just something you did wrong. The only cases we've seen of Emby not getting artwork is when it's asking for old show ids that no longer exists. (ie, stale data)

That the whole point Sub if I did something wrong then how come it always show back up after doing mid afternoon or mid day guide update sometime I even have do it at night time.

Keep in mind of who you also have keep happy in the house hold.

I think realistically if you're using Schedules Direct, then you've probably got nothing to gain from doing multiple EPG updates during the day. Just let it do the one overnight update, and schedule Emby to do the update soon after.

If there was some Emby URL or command you could run to tell Emby to reload it's data, you could easily put that in the PostUpdate.bat, and NextPVR would run it anytime the EPG is updated.

Either way - this isn't a bug or short coming in NextPVR. It's just the way the Emby guys are doing things. They could easily solve this in their addon if they wanted to.

sub, is image loading in NextPVR still asynchronous?  Depending on how Emby is checking the URL, the image might not be available immediately especially if Emby is flooding the server with request for EPG images.  NEWA handling of images is also slightly different then your methods.

I was a bit surprised today to see that it appears that I might have to pay to use NextPVR via Emby.  Hopefully I am missing something, I see the recordings but can't access NextPVR's guide or channel list.  Any suggestions?

From Emby's perspective it's synchronous. The client asks for the artwork, and it's either return immediately from the cache, or after a short delay if it has to find and download the artwork.

The only situation I've seen where it's had problems is when emby has asked for artwork from a event id that doesn't exist (because the guide data that emby has is stale, and that show id no longer exists). I've not seen them or Kodi hit the service hard. They're usually only requesting the artwork for a show the user has clicked on in the guide.

LiveTV/DVR functionality in Emby and it's clients requires Emby Premiere.  There is no other charges to use any of the DVR plugins unless the authors of that software charge for it.

@@sub3, by any chance will V5 of Next PVR have any built in support for catch-up services available from some providers?

All I can give you is a maybe. I have experimented with it a few months back (in v4), but decided against it at that stage, but I might revisit that in v5.

So this is a change that sucks, the guide and live tv from the NextPVR plugin used to be free in Emby.   It also means I can't be bothered testing the utility to refresh the guide for you guys even it is restricted.

It went to Premiere back in 2018 if I recall correctly.  Not a super recent change.

What version of the server have you been running/testing with the last 3 to 4 months?

Hi Martin, this is no problem. We can give you a sub for testing. Thanks.

I haven't tested it at all since MB3 when I helped Sven out and  was coming back to help support the conversion to NextPVR v5.  A bit surprised to find they are charging to use my code I thought only their DVR was included in Premier.

I think you have the wrong understanding of what's being charged for.

Live TV/DVR functionality of the Emby core is now part of Premiere.  Premiere of course pays the bills to keep the devs working and churning out new code, pays for the EPG data that is also now available and is high quality, pays for the use 25 premiere clients and all the development work needed for TV/DVR on the client side as well as the server, pays for the transcoding and HW transcoding dev work to make this all runs smoother, etc

It has little to do with any DVR plugins that just augment the functionality already in Emby.
