Group versions problem with strm file

Hi developers

I run latest beta emby server on windows server 2016 and use emby for Kodi for playback on nvidia shield.

If I add 2 movies with group versions and one of them is in strm format , the one with strm format do not playback while the other version on mkv plays ok. This is normal behavior?

Thank you.

PS: The strm file plays ok if not inside group.

Hello

Have exactly the same problem.

Don’t know if problem is with server or with emby for Kodi.

Can anyone have a look?

Thank you very much.

Hello

Here are log files from Kodi.

The first one is with movie outside version group, and the movie (The golden Compass.strm) plays just fine.

The second one is with movie part of a version group. In this case the same movie do not play back.

Any other format plays just fine inside or outside a version group.

Thank you

PS: Emby server beta 3.6.0.74 running on windows server 2016, emby for Kodi running on Nvidia shield tv with latest nightly Kodi Leia.

Hi

This is really weird.

I try to reproduce this. In fact the strm only plays if is not part of a group version. I do not have enough knowledge to point the problem. Maybe one of the developers can help you.

Can you please give 3.1.45 a try? I have setup a test scenario, with a strm grouped with two other versions and the strm plays. Let me know.

After digging into the log some more. Emby seems to provide two different cases for strm using /playbackinfo.

If it's a single strm file, the path contained inside the strm is returned as path value in the mediasource.

But if the strm is part of grouped version, the path returned in the mediasource is the path to the strm file, which breaks playback. The strm in the grouped media sources should return what's contained within the strm.
