That works fine.  Currently using TV speakers

 

Ok, hook up your optical and make it the default device, then try again. Run it as you would like it to be connected.

I will as soon as I can reboot to get my realtek audio back

 

Wonder if this was a waste of time.  Hope it doesn't bring other issues

I'm trying to find out where it's falling down. There have been so many updates to mpv, I'm trying to see where the breaking point is, if you don't mind helping me, that is?

I noticed on your screenshots that windows was updating .Net versions, wasn't that an update that was needed a while back for Emby to run correctly?
