A few questions concerning Music libraries.

A couple of questions:

1. I have a significant amount of artists lacking metadata (fetches metadata for individual albums) but nothing for the actual artists. Adding the last.fm plugin didn't alter much of that either. A few examples of artists lacking metadata, even after doing individual re-scans: Khalid, Future, Roy Woods, Arty, Billie Eilish. In other words, popular artists with metadata available via MusicBrainz/Last.fm.

2. Plex pulls each artists top tracks as part of the metadata, is this possible with Emby?

3. I've added multiple artists to my favorites, however when I'm selecting the favorite artists section none of them load, i.e the only visible element is the "play all, shuffle, sort by name e.t.c." menu against the dark grey background, see image below.Tried the Android app (Note 8) as well as desktop browser (chrome, no addons).

4.The "More like this" section recommends the same artists for all of them (despite having at least 100 unique artists available) i.e it's not just bad recommendations it's the exact same ones. See image below.

5. What is the simplest method to group collaborative tracks under one artist (i.e tracks with features seem to be picked up and labeled as "artist a, artist b" and I would prefer tracks with feature to be listed under the artist who released them (not as their own collaborative item).

6. The Android app I've installed does not look like the screenshots available on Google Play. Are they taken with one of the premiere themes? I use a Galaxy Note 8 and i'm running the Emby for Android (not the TV app).

I haven't done a complete removal and installation of my server because I spent a significant amount of time marking TV/Movies as watched and I've yet to figure out if/how you could back this up, but I did attempt to remove and recreate the music library (however the favorite artists somehow kept their mark?) so perhaps a clean install of the entire server is what I have to do.  Worth noting that the tracks with the problems above have been through Picard prior to being scanned by Emby. My server runs on Linux Mint, but since these questions are about the service and not so much the server, I posted here. If it's in the wrong section please move it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi welcome. I can answer these.

Do all the artists have the same genres?

Hi, yes i reproduced this yesterday and it's resolved for the next set of app releases. Thanks.

No, trance, RnB, Pop all recommend the identical "More Like this" artists despite being different genres.

Have you verified the Library options are enable in you Music Library?  ensure to enable Show Advances Settings

Enabled last.fm as a MusicArtist image fetcher and doing a scan for missing metadata now. I'll update once it's done. Thanks.

Well if the music has already been scanned that won't change anything. You would have to do manual refreshes of metadata on albums or artists.

Assuming it finds a match with MusicBrainz and MusicBrainz has limited information, let's say no artist image, does it continue to scan for that through other agents like last.fm or does it stop because it matched with MusicBrainz?

Manually matched Billy Eilish with correct MusicBrainz ID and as you can see it has metadata available https://musicbrainz.org/artist/f4abc0b5-3f7a-4eff-8f78-ac078dbce533 but despite doing this, the information isn't pulled to my server.

EDIT: Seems to work with some, others not.

EDIT 2: recreating the entire library with optimal settings (including advanced), will update once it's done.

Removing & recreating the entire library saw no improvements concerning metadata, it kept images I had previously uploaded manually to artists though as well as favorite marks which seems odd to me considering I removed the library?

Right Emby will not get any new metadata if metadata already exists, Emby only reads existing metadata,  You left the existing metadata/images with media correct?

Well I had assumed removing the library would also remove the metadata associated with it? I do not have it set to place it in the artist folders.

Unfortunately there was a change awhile back and Artists save to *\metadata\artists".  And I don't believe anything in metadata folder is removed Except library items.

Did a clean install and now sorting missing metadata manually. Consider it solved.

Resurrecting this thread for a quick question instead of making a new one.

Selecting an artist in the Android app does not list their albums, just 'appears on' and 'more like this'. Is this because I lack premiere, and if so, is there a list of limitations and differences between free and premiere more detailed than this? https://emby.media/premiere.html

Thanks.

Should have nothing to do with Premiere.  I believe that is the same/similar issue that was reported here and the app just needs to be updated.

What server and app versions?

Right that will only affect you because you're on the beta server, so the majority won't be seeing that. Thanks.
