Congrats for the 3.5 version.
Original title search was really a blessing!

It seems, though, that search is not including album artists.

Thanks,

It should be including all artists. it seems to work fine for me. they're under artists heading.

@@Luke,

Thanks for the quick answer but I really mean "album artist", not "artist" from tracks.

I have several albuns tagged like this:

Album artist: Quartetto Italiano

Artist: Paolo Borciani;Elisa Pegreffi;Piero Farulli;Franco Rossi

On this new 3.5 version Emby search will only retrieve data when searching for "artist" like "Paolo" but no data is retrieved when searching for "Quartetto".

Also, as I just noticed, Emby will only find results for "whole search term".
On the above sample, searching for "Paolo" works ok, "Paolo Bo", works ok, "Paolo Borciani", works ok

But searching for "Borciani" will bring no results.

The artist results in the search results screen include all artists in the database. That includes both album artists and contributing artists.

This does not work here on three Emby instalations.

How should I proceed?

I also noticed this "whole term" is also true for music titles.

I am not seeing a issue in my searches.

Note this search was from within Music Library, but Home page global search returned same/similar results.

I am seeing the "whole term" issue as well with 3.5 for music artists / album artists

Album Artist - Ace of Base

Ace works

Base returns no Artists/album artists/Contrib Artists

contributing artist - Run-D.M.C

Run works

D. or D.M.C. etc does not

change your search term to "gab"

and Peter Gabriel will disappear from results

You might get "gabrielle" returned as i do but thats because the artist starts with gab

Okay searching "gab" only returned People, so the Artist search doesn't return same result when partial searching.

This appears resolved, or at least the example I have tried above work in beta.

I think it's all good in the latest beta. we'll probably do a 3.5.1 release that includes some of these fixes. thanks.

I don't have any music tagged like this.  Does Quartetto Italiano appear in Album Artists tab?

Yes, it does!

And it would also appear on previous versions searches.

Just to update about these issues.

Just installed 3.5.1 and the "whole search term" has gone.

"album artists", though, are still not listed as search results

I can't reproduce that so there's got to be some factor we're overlooking. Thanks.

Any musician - Album Artist or Artist - i search for comes up as "Artists" as the category in the search

i dont have any Album Artists that are not also Artists so cant check if there is a difference

But i was wondering if its the title that might be misleading you? Are you expecting two categories in the search one for Album Artists and one for Artists - as i dont think that has ever been the case - but i might be wrong on that :)

That's what I'm thinking because in search they are all just blended together. It has always been like that.

Well, I provided some images on this very thread showing that no results are given. No results for the "Quartetto Italiano" search whereas this is the "album artist" for eight albuns.

It simply does not occur on previous Emby versions.

Would it help if I provide search results from previous versions?

If you please tag a single MP3 track with a non existent album artist and a different non existent artist, you can reproduce the behaviour.

What is a non existent artist?

An artist that does not exist on your Emby database.

Just grab an mp3 file, copy it and tag accordingly:

Album artist: "testing xxxx"

Artist: "testing yyyy"

Then, search for "testing xxxx" and you will se no results whereas searching for "testing yyyy" wil bring you the track.
