Favorite Folders and Boxsets not showing up

In MBC it is possible to mark folders and Box Sets as a favourite - a heart icon displays in the corner and the folder or boxset image appears on the EHS when I have favourites selected.

When I enter into Favourites these folders and boxsets do not show up. Favourites seems to be limited to TV Shows, Movies, Music, Books, etc - but no folders/boxsets.

Can boxsets and folders be made visible in the favourites section please?

Also, on the server client there doesn't seem to be a way to mark folders or boxsets as a favourite.

One issue to a thread please - especially if they target different systems.

Box sets should appear in the Movies Favorites folder.  Do they not?

No.

In MBC I selected a box set and set it as a favourite and the heart icon appeared. The box set then appears in the recent list on the EHS, but if I enter into favourites the box set does not show up at all.

The exact same behaviour occurs for folders as well.

I mentioned that the server UI doesn't have a way to mark folders and box sets as favourites as I thought perhaps that may be the reason that MBC isn't able to show them (server not supplying the information back to MBC).

You are probably correct.  If Favorite functionality was removed at the server level, the API probably isn't delivering them.  @@Luke are we restricting the types that can be favorited now?

If you bring up the Collections view in the web client (has to be from the top menu, not the media folders) and then hover over one of them, you can mark it as a favorite.  Unfortunately, you can't do this from the same media folder 'Collections' view.

I just did this and went to my Favorite Movies folder in MBC and they showed up...

Also just did it from MBC and it worked so something weird is going on in your setup.  I'll need screenshots and logs.

It looks like I hadn't waited enough time for the box set to show up in Favourites - it's showing now underneath the Favourite Movies folder.

But, MBC still allows marking of a folder as a favourite and this doesn't show up inside Favourites (but it does show on the EHS).

I changed the folder into a box set (the old way - by adding "[boxset]" to the end of the folder name) - and now I can mark it as a favourite in MBS and it shows up in MBC properly.

Perhaps I should just mark all my folders as box sets. They behave the same in MBC as a folder or as a box set. But there's the benefit of being able to mark them as favourites and see them under "collections" in MBS. Possibly the only drawback is that they appear under "box sets" in MBT.

It does seem that you have to exit and re-enter MBC for newly added favourites  to show up, even those marked inside MBC.

That should not be the case.  In the test I did, I did not re-start MBC.  I just went straight to the Favorites folder and it was there.

I just tried again - I added a favourite TV show, backed out to the EHS went into favourites and then into Favourite TV, and the show wasn't there, backed out to the EHS and back in and it still wasn't there. (Note: It does appear in the "recent" list on the EHS immediately)

Performing a force refresh (Ctrl-R) on "Favourite TV" did it without having to exit all the way out of MBC. I think that's probably acceptable.

Not sure what is different with you.  Maybe your server is reacting much slower than mine?

I just did the exact same thing and it worked as expected.

Even if I mark the favourite on the server - it won't show up on MBC until I refresh. But, still I think it's OK - marking favourites isn't an everyday occurence.

Well, marking it on the server with MBC already running isn't going to cause it to refresh.  But doing it inside MBC, where we know it is happening, should.

Sorry @@ebr - I just noticed I was on v3.0.143 of MBC on the PC I was doing this testing on. I just updated to 148 and favourites are showing up immediately.
