Emby Nerd 1
Hi, How exactly does the NextPVR plug-in work with EMBY? All the information that I found on the nextpvr website shows how the stand-alone program works. However, I can't seem to find any screenshots or video of what it looks like through Emby? I don't quite understand if the plug-in only supports recordings made through Emby LIVE TV or if the plug-in also has its own LIVE TV interface, like the stand-alone version of the program does. Please clarify. Thanks!
Luke 37045
It allows you to use emby to view channels and recordings from next pvr. Does this answer your question?
Emby Nerd 1
I think my setup is not working then. When I click on the plugin icon, it is blank. Yet I can access live tv channels on nextpvr app that is running on same machine as emby server. Am i missing something about how the plugin sends data to emby? Emby Nerd 1
Have you configured the next pvr plugin? That is where I am stuck. I can't find instructions on what to enter here: http://prntscr.com/jt2p86 As far as the app, I have it up and running fine. I clicked on Start NPVR Service and have loaded my m3u list already. This is on the NPVR Client settings - http://prntscr.com/jt2qf7 Edited June 9, 2018 by Emby Nerd
Luke 37045
If you've already setup the next pvr software those are things you should know. Chances are the only thing you need to change is localhost if nextpvr is running on a different machine. Then run a guide refresh in emby after changing those settings. Bamit 8
Where it has "localhost" put the ip address (or Machine Name) of the NextPVR machine Mine for example is this: http://gw-sx2110g:8866 You could use something like this: http://192.168.0.45:8866 or whatever the actual local IP of that machine is. localhost is also the same as 127.0.0.1, but these will only work if NextPVR and Emby are on the same machine. Hope this helps... Edited June 9, 2018 by Bamit
Emby Nerd 1
Great, I'll give that a shot and report back. Makes sense. Thanks.
Emby Nerd 1
No success. I have managed to pull up NPVR via LAN and can even view what's playing now as well as TV Guide. However, the plug-in is still blank in Emby. Now to be clear, is NPVR suppose to also show live channel listings or does it only show recorded shows in the Emby plug-in interface? As of now, the title underneath the NPVR icon suggest that it only contains a list of recordings. I was under the impression that this plugin-in should allow me to gain full access to all features (i.e. live tv streaming + recorded show playback) that I would be able to do on the NPVR stand-alone app. Here's what I see now: http://prntscr.com/jt3jnd & http://prntscr.com/jt3kgf. Yet I am able to pull up NPVR guide on my browser with my LAN link: http://xx.xx.xx.xx:8866/modern/guide.html
Luke 37045
Try refreshing the guide in emby. If the issue remains, please attach the information requested in how to report a problem. thanks.
Emby Nerd 1
Issue is still there. NPVR is still blank, but EMBY LIVE TV working fine. I've attached the log. embyserver.txt
Luke 37045
System.Net.Http.WinHttpException (0x80072EFD): A connection with the server could not be established Looks like you need to configure next pvr. Unfortunately I can really only troubleshoot the emby side of things as I'm not an expert with next pvr. Why not just use Emby Live TV? I think you can agree it's much simpler without external software, no?

I think you can agree it's much simpler without external software, no? I thought NPVR is already configured at this point considering that I can pull it up locally or remotely on any browser with my ip and the designated port. That same IP:PORT that is pulling up NPVR is what I have entered into Emby. So I am not sure why it is failing to handshake at this point. Regarding the LIVE TV, the only reason why I want to use NPVR is that it allows me to edit the channels in the program channel setup. The EMBY LIVE TV does not have a channel editor. That is a major feature difference especially when you need to trim or filter a large M3u list, and not have to use a service like xtreme editor to do it remotely. Luke 37045
While I don't know too much about next pvr, I can say that you will have to have it up and running so that Emby can access it. And then you will have to configure the next pvr plugin in Emby so that it can connect to your Next Pvr software.
arrbee99 1559
As Bamit says, the NextPVR plugin should be installed and showing (well for me) this - and the NextPVR app should be up and running and be able to play channels. Apart from that it should work. It works for me but I'm using dvb-s channels not m3u.

That is what I need confirmation on. Channels play just fine on NPVR app running on the local machine. IP:PORT for NPVR is identical to what is placed in the Emby plug-in configuration. I have never seen what this plug-in looks like when functioning correctly on Emby dashboard, so it would help if you can provide a screenshot of what it should look like. Because for me right now it is blank. I have not created any recordings so I accept that portion to be blank. But I also expected channels to show up as well, but they are not. Channels only working with Emby LIVE TV or on the NPVR app, but not the NPVR plugin on Emby dashboard. Edited June 10, 2018 by Emby Nerd
arrbee99 1559
Do you mean the Home page with My Media, Continue Watching, Latest Movies, all that stuff ? If so then at the moment must admit my TV stuff isn't working to well at the moment either. Have been experimenting with having different sources of live tv to see which starts the quickest so I've got the NextPVR plugin, the MediaPortal plugin, the Emby native Hauppauge feature and an m3u source, pretty much all for the same channels and I think they've started interfering with each other somehow recently. (unless a server update has recently stopped something working).

Emby Nerd 1
Is that a shot of the guide that shows channels from NextPVR or the native Emby LIVE TV player? I have the Emby channel player showing fine. It is the NPVR plugin that I need confirmation on whether it also shows a channel grid.
Bamit 8
It is from My " http://YourEmbyServer:8096/web/livetv.html " Guide. I use the NextPVR Plugin which pulls the EPG data from my NextPVR server. Just to confirm, if you goto " http://YourNextPVRServer:8866/modern/guide.html " does your NextPVR gudie populate with current EPG data? If that one does not work, how about this local link? Emby Nerd 1
Yes, when I enter http://YourEmbyServe...web/livetv.html using my server url, ofcourse, it does populate my EPG. Now, I guess what I am more confused about is that whether I am seeing both Emby Live TV channels and NPVR channels? I did setup an m3u tuner with Emby Live TV and I have the NPVR plugin installed. I see 2 icons, 1 is Live TV (Emby tuner) and 2. NPVR plugin. When I click on NPVR icon it is blank.

Luke 37045
That screenshot is from emby. That's what you'll see after data has been imported from next pvr.
Bamit 8
You wrote earlier "Have been experimenting with having different sources of live tv to see which starts the quickest so I've got the NextPVR plugin, the MediaPortal plugin, the Emby native Hauppauge feature and an m3u source, pretty much all for the same channels and I think they've started interfering with each other somehow recently." I am wondering if you have too much going on with conflicting plugins etc. I am by no means an expert with either NextPVR or Emby, and my setup is very simple, and I only have the NextPVR plugin as my LiveTV guide Data provider. Although NextPVR can handle IPTV, I use another plugin for that. It is the IPTV v1.1.2.0 plugin.
