Reprogram green button action in Win10 to launch ET

Sorry, one more question about my new HTPC build with ET front and center.

I currently use a VRC-1100 MCE remote control in ET, which pretty much works ok (I did have two of the original RC6 remotes, but they both wore out!). So, it works when navigating the 'desktop' ET app, but I just want to remap the 'green button' function to launch ET. In Win10, as there's no WMC, it launches the Windows settings app, which is a bit strange. I understand this remote just replicates keyboard presses (it even has a simulated mouse trackpad with left/right buttons). I've hunted around, and rather than use something like EventGhost to completely re-program everything, it's just the green button action I want to change.

Anyone aware of a simple way of doing this?

Thanks

This isn't easy unfortunately and for windows it requires registry edits just to re-program the button.

Well, there is the Advanced MCE Remote Mapper Tool (link down at the moment because of a stupid aprils fool joke, so i added the file to the post, hope this is ok) to remap all of the buttons of a MCE remote, I'm using it myself with an RC6 compatible remote receiver from Philips.

I've remapped the Green Button to STRG+ESC, so the Start menu (windows 10 tablet mode) opens and I can select, more or less, from the buttons.

You could also put ET as first icon on task bar and use WIN+1 (AFAIK) to start it.

You only have to make sure, to add the emby icon from the start menu to the task bar, not the one that is running ET (that another icon for electron).

With this tool I also remaped other buttons, for example yellow is Home, red is CTRL+SHIFT+A (switch audio track) and much more.

I don't know, if this tool would also work with your remote, but you could try.

Ciao, Alfred

Thanks for that. I was trying to follow the 'broken' download link, or trying elsewhere to find that tool. It seemed to be sort of what I might need. I'll give it a shot.
