Remote playing & internal client

I have an interesting issue where remote playing through Emby Theater works fine with an external client (MPC-HC), but it fails to start playing a video with the internal player. The movie backdrop with spinning circle stays on screen and hangs there. After 2 minutes or so, MB server reports the movie as direct playing, but no video is there. The spinning circle then disappears, but the movie backdrop stays on screen.

I also tried adding the latest release of MPV as external player in MB Theater (2018 02 09 Shinchiro build), but I cannot get that player to start succesfully when launching from Emby Theater: It launches, and exits again after a split second.

Since an external player works fine, I'm assuming this cannot be a port / firewall issue? All ports and firewall rules are setup as they should be.

When playing files from my home network, the internal player works fine.

The challenge with using the external player remotely is that there is not way to seek forward or point to a specific location in the movie. If playback crashes (which happens sometimes), there's no way to get back to the resume point of the movie. If there is a way to enable seeking, that would also solve this for me.

Logs are attached, would appreciate if somebody could have a look.

Hi, please check and make sure you're not running two simultaneous instances of Emby Server. I think that might be your problem. Check windows services, and if there is an entry there, please disable the service. thanks.

Yes, the "Emby server" service was present and set to "Manual" on my server. I disabled it and that solved the problem on all my devices.

It also seems to have made remote connections faster.

Thanks!
