thank you!
hopefully they also provide a manual login (without emby connect)? MrMC only works with Emby Connect which I don't want to use :-/

Yes, I've tested Emby Connect and manual login in Infuse beta and they both work. There is no support for multiuser, but it's in their roadmap.

I don't have multi-user, just one logged in user, but my Apple TV does this by connecting to an HTTPS URL to a remote Emby server (that does a reverse proxy).

When I last looked at the other players they couldn't handle this. Does Infuse handle this now?

Thanks...

I have no buffering at all. I get the same speed as with FTP. I can choose whether I want to cache the images or not. If I don't cache the images, syncing is very fast and the metadata on Apple TV takes up very little space. There is still work to do:

- "Next up" row

- Collections

- Playlist

We are in a first beta and these features will come later.

Where can you choose for not to cache the images?

thanks

EDIT: found it under Shares/Share/Edit Share/Advanced

Thanks :)

Look closer, in MrMC's Emby Client Service

Because you can also use manual Emby sign-in, specifying username/password and server/domain/port info.

Infuse direct plays everything with dynamic range and frame rate matching. It even does HDR to SDR tone mapping. HDR content played on an SDR screen is amazing.

Emby MPV doesn't support dynamic range and frame rate matching.

On the other hand, I like the Emby UI for Apple TV more than Infuse, but after all, what really matters is the player.

Direct Play sounds good, except when remote. Some of us don't have the fastest upload internet so might have to use Emby client when remote. Unless there is some trick to make Infuse remote cause Emby to transcode?? But Infuse app is really nice when connected to emby. Have had few issues on the latest Beta. I am using it now to watch everything from Emby. It won't do live tv or scheduling. But we don't watch live tv almost ever. Infuse home screen is somewhat configurable, so mine basically has the same categories of content as found in the Emby client. So, not much of a change there. The fact that it deinterlaces is great too for us US 1080i channel recorders. The only deinterlace missing is 2x yadif or equivalent.

MrMc still has bugs for me. I ran it last night for the first time in months, and, with Emby connect, most all of the shows thumbnails are blank and missing. It also didn;t correctly find the same list of unwatched show as emby.

I‘m aware, but I never got it working. Looks like the connection is established, but I don’t see any media in mrmc.

After setting up the Emby connection, you have to specify in MrMC Home screen, which server database to use for content (local MrMC database or Emby server database).

In Opacity skin, you can find that option in most bottom left icon, on MrMC home screen. Once set, you don’t have to set it again, even when switching skins.

If the Emby app. would direct play 4K, HEVC, .mkv with dynamic range and frame rate matching, I would prefer it to Infuse 6.4. I am using the Emby app on nVidia shield on regular basis (mainly because of audio passthrough) and it works perfectly!

I'm not sure I would like Emby app better even given that. The trakt integration on Infuse works better, as does ratings. The only thing missing from Infuse is live tv, and, that's something I do maybe once a month, can just as easily switch the input on TV to do that. For timers and such, I use IOS app.

A matte of taste, I guess. I don't watch TV with Emby and Trakt isn't important for me.

Yeah, you are undoubtedly correct on that. I like the NEW Infuse interface way more and it's more configurable, mine looks pretty much like Emby and now that the metadata issue is solved, it's wonderful. Multi-user is a problem for now for some. Obviously cost is a downside. I suppose it's very very hard for me to imagine Emby playing everything Infuse does as well as Infuse does.

The good thing though is for those who want the Apple TV as their client still, even if they would like a fixed Emby better, have a bridge with Infuse to wait it out.

Yuk to Infuse interface vs Emby.....Prefer Emby any day, even if Infuses player works correctly.....

Story short, in December 2019 we were promised that main playback functionality would get fixed. We are now almost in June and still Emby on the Apple TV lacks basic player functionality.

This all looks like waiting to see a unicorn in real live, after being involved with Emby for the Apple TV for a couple of years already.

Sure. This is from living room TV, where, our use is mostly DVR shows. It does little good to show just Infuse, as, it also obviously depends on how Emby shows it as well. You'll note they are the same, different sizes perhaps, but the same.

In my theater room, we watch movies and such. But I find Infuse interface better for that as well.

Note I don't use the default setup of Infuse as far as how it shows things by default.

I was just about to try this out again, but I can’t choose the emby server there. Are you sure this works for you when not using Emby Connect?

I guess you are on latest Emby server beta, right ?

if yes, you will have to wait until next MrMC TestFlight/release is out, because from Emby Server beta 4.5.0.13+, there are some Emby server API changes that impact MRMC compatibility regarding manual sign-in with MrMC Emby Client Service.

This is a known MrMC issue with Emby Server beta 4.5.0.13+ and already discussed during an internal compatibility test regarding those API changes, done here with some users and devs, where Amet from MrMC, was also involved.

nope, I'm not. Emby server is v4.4.3.0. I'm having this exact problem since ever (since MrMC started Emby support).

So from reading this thread, it seems I have to use Infuse or another player to watch my videos reliably/in all their glory through the Apple TV infrastructure (4 and counting) at my house. Cloud Storage only works with Google Cloud instead of iDrive or Blaze or other services - but maybe not even Google since that plugin seems to have issues. There's a premium version of Emby just like PlexPass, so its not free.

Given this, what's the value of switching to Emby from Plex? I can run Infuse on top of Plex as well if I want that player. Seems that given the client hardware I'm using Emby isn't the way to go, at least in its current state.

Well, Infuse takes longer to sync with a Plex server, when Infuse syncs with Emby, it is almost instantaneous. There's a plugin in Emby which speeds up the process a lot.
