Improving Shuffle for music

As per Luke's suggestion, turning this into a feature request -

It would be nice if Shuffle didn't get killed if I pick another song to play while its already in shuffle mode, or in other words I want to skip the song its decided to play but still shuffle and move on to the next song. In relation to this, when I click Shuffle, the Shuffle button doesn't visually change to show its been selected, This would also be useful to click again to Unshuffle.

If this can't be done, a Skip This Track button would be nice.

Hope this isn't too confusing - it confuses me when I read through it....

Untoten

Another thing with this, the shuffle kinda sucks, I hit the same tracks a lot especially in the beginning.  Same for TV shows.

Tried web browser (Chrome), ET (using Flextuary skin at the moment), and Ember for Emby. They'll all shuffle fine, but if you just pick another song while its shuffling they play that song and then carry on down the list, shuffling gets killed.

Can you define exactly what you mean by pick another song?

In Android tv, fire tv, roku and Apple tv you should be able to move around within the song queue at will. The items are shuffled before filling the queue so order should be maintained.

I just mean I click shuffle, it plays something in the list, it plays something else in the list, etc. I click something else to play in the playlist, cause i'm not in the mood for the song its chosen. It plays the one I picked. After that one it plays the next one down in the list, then the next one down, etc, not something random.

Don't actually know what happens in the apps you mentioned as I don't have iOS stuff or Roku and the FireTV and Android device I do have are plugged into the TV (no amp) and I use for TV not music. This is all on my PC (with the browser / apps on that). Have other laptops I can try but haven't yet.

But wasn't the list of items to play shuffled before they were put in the list?  Therefore, playing them "in order" in the list is playing them randomly?

Not really. I created a playlist. So I work my way through my favorite stuff and add it to a playlist. Therefore I pick a few favs and add from U2, a few favs and add from The Jam, a few favs and add from B-52's etc. So bands are added randomly(ish) but in groups. I presume when I click shuffle on that list it gets randomized by Emby which actually it does. But if I interrupt its shuffle to not play a song I don't fancy at the moment I want it to carry on shuffling from the new song I picked but it doesn't. So it should just shuffle till I cancel it.

Why don't you just click next track while in the audio player? It will advance to the next one in the shuffled order. does this answer your question?

Oh duh, finally get what you mean. Press that right arrow/vertical line thing. Obvious to everybody but me (again).
