lifespeed 42
I appreciate a lot of work has gone into deploying the new player. I know some people miss the MadVR option and the fine-grained control it provides, but there were some issues that challenged even the geeks among us. I know I had problems with MadVR and audio sync quite a bit, it never really seemed to get resolved. So now we have the MPV player, which is showing promise and appears to have already had bugs squashed and features implemented. But we no longer have automatic frame rate switching, which was a really nice feature. I see we have the option of interpolating to limit the annoyance of mismatched frame rates. While this is certainly better than sending a 24 or 25fps video to a 60Hz TV, it can interfere with the use of HDTV features. For example, many HDTVs will refresh at 120Hz when fed a 24Hz video and do frame interpolation. When given a 60Hz video one can't take advantage of this, nor can one send 120Hz over older HDMI. Would it be possible to add frame rate switching back in at some point, as an alternative to interpolation at the PC source?
