Media Stub Extras No Longer Displaying in Emby Theater

Back around April 1st Media Stubs (eg, "Name.disc") placed in a Movie's Extras folder were being displayed in Emby Theater, but now are no longer showing. If this is an accident then I'd welcome having this functionality restored. Or, if it is by design I'm curious as to why it was removed (eg, was it causing problems with something)?

Thanks!

Good question @@Luke -- I should have included that! I don't use the web app that requires Emby Connect (as I've not set that up yet), but the web app that is built into the server does not show these Extras any more either.

I should mention that I don't remember for certain whether back around April 1 I was checking within the server web app, Emby Theater, or both. But it would have been at least one (and likely both) of those as those are the only two Emby apps I use (and I typically check both, but especially Emby Theater, when I'm trying out something new).

It has also occurred to me that this might actually be a Server issue, ie, it might be that the Server is no longer "registering" these items or something. So I just did a test of adding an Extras folder (containing only Media Stubs, in the form of "name.disc") to a Movie folder (in this case, the movie is also a Media Stub), performed a Library Scan, and found that there's no mention of the Movie ("Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).hddvd.disc") or the Extras ("Special Features (Online).disc" and "Vudu.disc").

I'll send you the Log via PM in a moment.

The structure is:

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)\Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).hddvd.disc

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)\extras\Special Features (Online).disc

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)\extras\Vudu.disc

Does that tell you what you were needing?

So the movie stub is displaying ok?

Correct. I can browse to the Movie (of the Media Stub) just fine in Emby Theater, etc., but the Extras (which are also Media Stubs) are no longer displayed.

Just wanted to report that Media Stubs in the Extras folder are displaying again. Thanks for the fix! :)

This is broken again. Media Stubs in the Extras folder are not being displayed anymore.

For example, the movie Media Stub works (ie, the movie page is displayed) for the below, but not the Extras:

The Wolverine (2013)\The Wolverine (2013).dvd.disc

The Wolverine (2013)\Extras\Additional Extras Online.hddvd.disc

The Wolverine (2013)\Extras\Extended Version Online.hddvd.disc

I'm on Emby Server 3.2.36.0, and have tested this on the server web app and Emby Theater Desktop.

Thanks!

We will review this for a future update. Please be aware this is an extremely specialized feature and was added pretty much just due to this thread. I have not heard of anyone else doing this so that's why it doesn't get a whole lot of testing. Thanks.

Thank you, @@Luke, for sharing! I didn't realize that. I'm grateful that the feature was added at all, and I understand that you have to manage your resources (time, energy, etc.) regarding re-adding it / fixing it.

I am open to other ways of achieving my goal -- I don't wish to make extra work for you all. Other ideas I've had have been adding support for the Kodi spec <discstub> message and title data (which I'd probably actually prefer over what I'm requesting in this current thread, or over the next item, Tags), and/or adding the option to display Tags in Emby Theater, etc., but neither of those have been implemented (probably for similar reasons). But if it makes more sense for the Emby community to add something like the above Kodi spec <discstub> support I'd be totally cool with that, and we could abandon the request of this current thread.

Or, if you have other ideas for me that better fit with other goals/needs/functions in Emby I'm totally open to suggestions. :)
