Library Filter By Language

I would be happy to see something like this too (assuming it's not available a year on).

I've made a point of making sure that the audio tracks are labelled with the appropriate language in my library.

That seems to mean streamdetails > audio > language is updated in the .nfo with the appropriate data and I've been able to use Kodi playlists to sort video based on this... but it requires kodi.  Lately, I've been testing emby theatre and the apps and this feature is lacking.

Hi, just wanted to pile on... I live in singapore and have visitors from thai/indo/viet/hk/etc. would love to be able to filter by subtitle.

right now I'm using 'find | grep "\.tha\."' to, for example, get a list of movies with external thai subtitles -- and this misses movies with internal thai subs...

It would be great if I could just use the filter function in the gui.

Cheers.

Just wanted to support this request.  I have tons of foreign films but sometimes I don't feel like reading subtitles.  Being able to filter by audio language would be wonderful.

Giving this a bump, it is one of the reasons I have always been keeping Plex around. Sometimes I have people over who want to watch movies in a specific language or at least with subtitles in that language and there is no way to filter for this at the moment.

Edit: I just noticed that this is my first post. Long time reader so I could have sworn I had posted before :) Very happy overall with Envy but I guess there is always room for improvement.

This is exactly what we need for all library that uses video formats and audio, a filter to filter the audio language and the subtitles languages

Another vote for this feature request.

And along with it I'd like to suggest that libraries have the option of selecting a preferred language to play by default, for media with multiple audio/subtitle tracks.

Background on why this would be helpful:

I have one library for TV shows in English and another for TV shows in Russian. Some shows have audio in one language or the other, but quite a few have dual audio. Currently my best solution is to have duplicates of the same files in the English library and the Russian library, with the default audio tracks switched around. It would be really cool to be able to put everything in a single folder and let Emby sort out which ones have English and which have Russian, and default to the appropriate audio track.

Thanks!

@Luke, do you have a kind of roadmap that details what you are currently working on and what are the next in line features to implement after that?

I have found myself going back to Plex a lot because we really have a need to filter out movies with a specific language or from a specific time period quiet often so we now run Plex on almost all mobile devices in addition to Envy although we strongly prefer just about everything else about Emby.

May I suggest that you use the chance to implement a whole bundle of requests that I am aware of regarding the options for filtering while you are at it. A powerful filtering capability is so essential for large collections.

Off the top of my head we would need additional filters for:

subtitle language

audio language

And with regard to filtering the ability to combine filters like for example a western from the 60ies with Spanish subtitles - good luck finding that now!

If you can basically set filters freely it would not even be necessary to have the option to filter movies by decades as one could just filter the years that make up a decade or any combination of years which is a much more flexible option, for example for a number of reasons I like the period between 1953 and ca. 1965 a lot and it would be nice to be able to just filter by these years.

And please: With the ability to set multiple filters please implement what we have been missing for a while which is ability to erase all filters with a single click at the top of the filter section.

We'll add audio and subtitle language filters for the next release. Thanks.

Will we be able to apply those filters to libraries (in the library setup panel) so that they always apply? Or are you just adding new fields to the standard filter pane? It would be really handy to be able to set up libraries that are restricted to specific language(s). Thanks!

It will be adding new filters to the current set.

Thanks Luke, I will create a separate topic to request library filters.

Was this accomplished? I'm looking for Audio language filter, either default, original, or 'available'... as appropriate. Is that  yet possible?

Yes they should be there.

I'm not seeing it, can you direct me? I'm seeing this

I'd like to filter by audio language or maybe 'original' as that seems to be a data point....

@SwanStream Did you scroll down to Media Info sections?

I'm not sure what you mean @Happy2Play... that screen grab was from TV shows, filter... it was cropped, but here's the whole list, no media info section at all.... Not sure what I'm missing. This is from the server port interface, not a specific client app.

Shows and Seasons are folders that do not contain Media Info, Media Info only exists on Episodes (Audio and Video files).  So for TV it will only exist on Episodes tab.
