mrtwopoints 8
I added the first three episodes of "The Expanse" at the same time last week and Emby started displaying the second episode as the next up. I added the first several episode of "Taboo" and it started showing Next Up in the correct order. However I then added the first season of Santa Clarita Diet and it displayed Episode 6 as the next episode up even though I hadn't watched any yet. I marked the first episode as watched and then the seventh episode started showing up on the "Next Up" page. Strange to say the least. I've included the log. Luke 37046
Hi, check the earlier episodes to see which ones are marked watched. there is always an explanation. thanks !
mrtwopoints 8
In the instance of Santa Clarita Diet. The first episode is marked watched. Episodes 2-6 are not. Still Episode 7 appears as the Next Up. I've repeated library scans and cleared the database to see if anything shook out but no luck.
mrtwopoints 8
Marking Episode 7 as watched triggers Episode 3 into the Next Up queue. Skipping Episode 2.If I mark Episode 3 watched, Episode 2 is queued. If I mark Episode 2 watched then there are no new episode in the Next Up queue. Even though at this point Episodes 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 are marked unwatched.
jordy 284
What happens if you mark the entire series as watched and then as unwatched? does it still show the wrong next up? Also check the individual episode metadata to make sure the names and season/episode order etc are correct.
mrtwopoints 8
I marked all items as played and then cleared that so that they are all currently marked unplayed. Episode 6 is showing up as my Next Up episode like it did originally. I have checked all epsisode metadata. Each episodes Ep#, Season#, and Absolute# is correct.Everything looks perfect. Emby just wants me to play them in the wrong order. And again if I mark Episode 1 as watched, Episode 7 becomes my new next up. If I mark Episode 2 as watched, there are no Next Up items to be played in this series. I have also had this issue with The Expanse. jordy 284
Actually, believe it or not, I now have the same problem... Just added the first two episodes of 24: Legacy in the last hour or so and have not touched anything either during or after the import process Straight away, the WebUI and Android App both show the Next Up episode as s01e02. I checked each episodes Metadata to see that the naming and episode numbering was correct and everything was as it should be. Marking the entire series as watched and then un-watched, made no difference - it still shows s01e02 as the next up episode. EDIT: Server: 3.2.1.104 Beta Android Mobile: 2.8.64 Beta EDIT 2: added .nfo files for reference - couldn't add the nfo for ep 2 separately so put them both in zip file... mrtwopoints 8
I just added Planet Earth II and it's trying the same thing again. The next episode up is listed as Episode 6. None of the previous episodes are marked watched.

Happy2Play 8270
@@Luke Is this some sort of database issue? As all my systems have relatively new databases. My beta system shows proper order with unwatched Series also.
mrtwopoints 8
@Luke This database is on a new machine as well. Not even two weeks. I tried removing the files, checked the naming and the metadata in metabrowser, everything looked fine. Readded the episodes and got the same result. It's really strange. I had never had this issue until two weeks ago. It did it with the expanse on my old machine. I built a new server and reloaded emby with a fresh library scan and got the same result. Emby thinks the episodes are out of order. My question is, what metadata does Emby look at to generate the next episode up. There must be something other than series and episode number, or even absolute number. Those are all entered and correct. Here are some screenshots of the metadata manager. Does it look like Emby is trying to sort by alphabetical order? Only in a select few series. Edited February 14, 2017 by mrtwopoints

Happy2Play 8270
Obviously there is something wrong in the metadata if they are not in the right order in Metadata manager. Edited February 14, 2017 by Happy2Play

Happy2Play 8270
So all the metadata is not coming from Emby, Correct? As these are xml files and don't have any provider metadata ids. Edited February 14, 2017 by Happy2Play
mrtwopoints 8
My process has always been to us metabrowser with the Mediabrowser saver. I make sure all the metadata has been gathered and saved and then do a library scan with Emby. This process has worked for years. Is there a different metadata file you'd like me to send? Happy2Play 8270
Emby can read xml files mostly but no long saves to a xml format. I use MCM and it appears to provide more information than metabrowser to not see this issue in Emby.
mrtwopoints 8
I can easily generate the nfo files with the metadata in them, but it still seems to order the episodes alphabetically.
