Okay so today I decided I would try to start using Emby for my Music as well... Not sure if that is going to happen as I am currently trying to scan my Music folder for Music and nothing happens. I have it setup with the folder structure "Music\Artist Names\Album Names\Song Name.mp3" and all my files have been properly tagged with MP3Tag and work with multiple programs. So not sure if I am doing something wrong or if this is a bug with the latest update but I figured I would report this.

Hi, add the "Music" folder as a library with content type Music, then as soon as the library scan completes, you should have a music library. Enjoy.

Yeah I did do that. It is set to scan for "Music" and I selected my main Music folder. Is there something else that affects this?

It's like it just isn't scanning for any changes. I have tried manually clicking scan library. I also tried removing the library and re-adding it but nothing happens.

You sure you added the folder?  I don't see a Music folder being watched.

Yeah I definitely added the folder. I guess this is what the problem is... It isn't monitoring the new folder for some reason.

That's not the problem. The realtime monitor is an optional feature.

Can you show us the contents of Z:\Music?

Okay here is my server log file attached.

Can you run a library scan and then attach the complete server log without removing anything from the beginning? Thanks !

Attached is my most recent server log as well as a.txt file containing the list off all the files in the Z:\Music Folder. (Used File List Maker to do that). Realtime Monitor I have tried with it on and off and no difference as well.

Music List.txt

Is Z: a mapped network drive?  If so, go direct to it through the network directory and select the address that way, not the mapped drive.

\\NAS\Public\Music  Something like this.

Z: Is not a network drive. I have it plugged in directly to my computer. It is an external HDD.

You're saying it worked in previous releases? how long ago was that?

Not sure where I said I've tried it before. I've never added my music before until this update.

Traction Tim

Hi Radical924,

There must be something simple wrong here, so have a look at the basics. I have my music in directories such as this:

D:\Music\Tim Music\David Bowie\Heathen\Sunday.mp3                 {There is a separate folder for my wife's music in the "Music" folder too}

And the "Tim Music" folder is shared in Win7 as this:

\\TIMSERVER\Tim Music

Which is the library path I use in Emby.

I think you need to do a bit of experimentation with a folder of MP3's.

Happy Christmas  :D

Good day,

I think you best remove the external drive letter that was assign for it by windows, you can do this by the build in diskpart (please google how to use it), or use util as something like driver letter changer or usbdlm (please notice I did not used these third party util, i just use google to look for some util).

After that disconnect the external usb drive, reboot, then after that connect the usb drive, give it letter, then test.

My best

I added the media using the network path instead and it still isn't finding the media... Not sure why.

I manually assigned the drive letter and still nothing.

So I added the Music folder to my shared folder list and I also noticed I had the folder hidden (Not in the library but the actual folder) so I un-hid it and now it seems to be working.
