Hi,

Have Emby server running on my media center pc (win7 with windows media center).

I have installed emby windows media center add-on and it works fine within windows media center.

If I try to use xbox360 as extender for my windws media center then I'm able to playback and watch TV fine.

I can see Emby and access it. Emby opens in a window mode, there are blue frame all around the application.

When I play back the content it shows up, but it is blurry.

Does anyone here have a working emby setup with xbox 360 as extender to media center?

What is the trick to get this working?

Thanks Jeremy.

It worked. By editing the registry setting in media center for the xbox user I was able to get rid of the borders.

Any idea about the video quality? emby streams perfect to iOS devices, but the video quality via xbox doesn't look nice at all.

The media center pc and xbox are on local lan with wired connection, so network speed is not an factor.

Is there a trick to fix the streaming quality?

xbox 360 never played well with Emby EVER (through extender).  You can try "casting" via DLNA instead, but the 360 just never did well playing video from EMBY (even when it's transcoded)

Got it working pretty well via Shark007 codec pack by changing the mode on the MKV tab to "Alternate" setting for Extenders. Then the video looked pretty good.

Next problem, subtitles doesn't show up. Apparently that and issue with xbox 360 that will not be solved.

I guess the easiest way is just to buy a NUC (maybe NUC6I3SYK) and put win7 on it with VMC and Emby.

Actually the easiest way would be to get one of the streaming boxes and use the app for it (Roku, Fire TV, etc.).

Thanks for the tip. I don't think Ruko is available in Denmark yet. I have searched and I can see some post about it coming soon. But wasn't able to track any of them down.

My idea with the xbox360 was that I would be able to mirror the WMC experience for the family, use the same TV functionality, be able to see TV recordings done on the media center and then add media browser on top.

The xbox360 kinda works, but with a few drawbacks like lack of subtitles, a bit slow and it's maybe too noisy.
