Playback in WMC takes 2-3 minutes to start for x265

Hi,

I've been having this issue for a while and I'm not really sure where to start on troubleshooting.

When I play x265 encoded videos (encoded in handbrake with no extra options, i set quality to 17) in Emby for WMC it takes 2-3 minutes before playback actually occurs. I'm looking for a way to make that instant like it does for other codecs (h264 etc).

When I watch windows resource monitor, my CPU is not taxed, maybe 15%. My RAM is not taxed, maybe 3GB of 8GB. The files are locally stored on a RAID 5 attached via esata.

I have an NVidia 750 w/2GB RAM GPU

An AMD FX 8320 CPU

8GB ddr3 1800 RAM

Running emby server, stable.

LAV filters 0.68

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you need logs or anything else, just ask (I haven't seen anything in them, but I don't know what I'm looking for).

For comparison, if I play these files via emby in Chrome, they play instantly.

The ONLY reason I still use Emby for WMC is the family factor and remote controls (pause, skip stop etc via my WMC remote)

EDIT: I attached a log from MediaBrowser-Classic, I was attempting to playback Zoolander2

Just fyi - Emby for WMC simply sends the videos to the WMC video player. If you add a video library to WMC you should see the exact same situation. So now that we've established that Emby for WMC has no control over it, I guess I would suggest looking through LAV filter settings for anything that might be affecting it.

Thanks for the reply.

I imagine that LAV is perfectly fine for this use, but on the chance that there is something better, what would you suggest?

(I'm using the default LAV config, so I'll see if I can get it to work by changing things and use their support)

LAV is your best option.  I would make sure it is up to date and check for any settings as Luke suggested.
