Luke 37008
Due to this requirement being a little too prohibitive we disabled it and stopped working on it.
inzombyac 69
That's unfortunate. Hopefully this will change in the future. For now I'll need to keep WMC around in order to record.
Luke 37008
Leave feedback with Microsoft that you would like these api's to be accessible without elevation.
tmm1 4
I set it for 5 minutes prior to starting the recording, including padding. I did find other documentation about the windows api call that we're using requiring elevation, so based on that I can't really commit to spending much time on this because nobody is really going to want to run the server that way. Do you recall where you saw that *WaitableTimer functions require elevation? I cannot find anything to this effect in the Microsoft documentation. I did find, however, that you have to change "Allow Wake Timers" to "Enabled" (from the default "Important Wake Timers Only") before they work. Luke 37008
@@tmm1, i can't seem to find it, but if you want to help, try downloading the binary of this app: https://www.codeproject.com/Articles/49798/Wake-the-PC-from-standby-or-hibernation and using it to schedule a wake event. See if that works. Thanks !

See if that works. Thanks ! I went ahead and tested this b/c the other guy never replied. That program wakes my server every time! I am certain that I did not run the executable elevated. I also ensured that Windows UAC was on the default settings (to make sure it wasn't elevating automagically). I did run powercfg /lastwake to confirm what woke the computer. It was a timer set by the program above. I am ready to be done with WMC as my DVR so this is very exciting news!
