Topic is supposed to say pre emby but autocorrect is well horrible.

Ok first and foremost i am sorry if somewhere this has been addressed, ive searched and searched with zero answers. My problem is I had playback issues with my media and decided to update, I do not have Internet so I used my phone as a Hotspot and made the massive mistake of updating both the PC server and grabbed the emby roku app. Problem is I went from having my entire DVD collection at my fingertips to no offline connection at all. Is there any way offline to access my media hosted on my PC with the most recent stable version and the emby app? I need my media back. I've read there is no way to rollback the server application on the PC and a system restore to an earlier date yielded no positive results as I was unable to access my dashboard, it went directly to the Web client... This is super frustrating as I just spent three days ripping my favorite TV show to my PC and labeling each episode. Now I can't even watching via my roku2.

Please help!!!!!

Thanks in advance. Also as far as bug reports or logs I'll be limited on how much of that i can upload via my mobile tether but I will jump through whatever hoops are necessary to regain access.

A bit more info, firewall is off port is open on router cannot even manually add server from emby app in roku unless logged in to emby connect. This leads me to believe that I am required to have a constant Internet connection to view locally hosted media?

No. Try re-enabling windows firewall and making sure it is configured with the proper rules. We've seen many cases in the past where disabling it tends to cause more harm than good.

Firewall back on, while the PC is connected to my hotspot and has an active internet connection, my roku2 will find the server hosted locally and has access to all my media. However as soon as i disconnect i go back to the emby connect page and code prompt on my roku2. I fear i'm missing something here as it really wants an active internet connection to work. I can now attempt to manually enter the server IP and port but even doing that doesn't get me connected just says unable to locate server. FYI i did enter the code as directed upon updating all the emby software and roku app.

Did you try clicking the skip button (connect to server manually)?

we don't want you to feel like an internet connection is required. Emby Connect is an optional service that makes it easy to connect while away from home, but it's not required if you don't want to use it.

Attempted but continually says cannot locate server please make sure server is up and running. i've restarted the server severally times even exited and restarted the actual application for the server. I'm happy to hear that i am not required to have a live internet connection that gives me hope that this can be resolved as i've been using media browser for well over 3 years now and have loved it.

i was just going to ask if the dashboard was giving me a false ip haha. My local server listed IP is 192.168.43.207 while on the local network the server pc is 192.168.1.2.

I do notice that when connected to my router my homegroup listing has no emby yet once connected to the hotspot it appears. Could this be the issue? i've never had to look to make sure media browser was listed on homegroup so i'm not sure if it was previously prior to emby or not.

i would just try using roku with 192.168.1.2

the server's local address detection is not always guaranteed to work, but once you start connecting from the right address it will see that and adjust. and even still, the detection is really just for your own information. if you manually enter 192.168.1.2 in the app it should be fine.

I think I may have found the issue, when I used my Hotspot to update the roku app I had to disconnect it from the local network. Now it seems as though it doesn't want to connect to my router even though it goes through the checks and finds wireless and local network and of course fails to find an Internet connection. I feel like if I get it to reconnect to the router I'll have resolved it. It hadn't occured to me to check that as I had gone through and set it up again assuming it was setup. Upon checking to see my local network name (router name) listed under network I saw the no inactive Hotspot name instead (light bulb went on haha). Let's hope this works! Thanks for the help I'll report back if this works or not.
