Good day,

I always like the unexpected ending movies, like The Sixth Sense , The Others, last I saw of this type as Now You See Me.

My best

I enjoyed the ending to Now You See Me as well. Lately it seems that far too many movies are trying too hard to stick a massive plot-twist ending onto the end. Unfortunately for most of those movies, it rarely works.Even Shyamalan eventually gave them up for a reason. One "twist ending" I really did appreciate was The Illusionist (2006) with Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti. It came out about the same time as the much better known The Prestige, also a decent film with a fairly interesting twist. I think between the two, I actually preferred Norton's movie better, but I did like them both.

Totally agree here buddy, and yes, "The Illusionist (2206)" is one of my favorite movies, "E. Norton" always put great performance in any movie :)

I recently watched Lucy.

The movie could have been better. It could not have been worse. I love Leon, The Fifth Element, The Transporter and Lockout. I know what I'm getting into when I watch a Luc Besson film. This film was just terrible. The movie is passable as mindless entertainment until it completely falls apart in the last 20 min. I'd give it a 3/10.

That's too bad. I love Luc Besson movies and had hoped this was a good one.

Maybe I'll rewatch Wasabi this weekend and post about that film.

Completely agree. I enjoyed Now You See Me a lot more then I thought I would. And the plot, and twist, were imaginative and inventive.

I too found The Illusionist to be a better film then The Prestige. Both in acting quality and in the script.

I went to the cinema with the wife to see LUCY, and we both thought it wasn't as good as it could have been.

We also saw BAD NEIGHBOURS the following night and thought all the best bits were in the trailer.

We watched CUBAN FURY the next night and it was excellent. Much better than the other two.

My best

I'll give you the first two... but the third was an utter turd of a movie... In spite of the superb cast and some decent performances and special effects... The entire plot is a complete and total farce, it's stupidity only match by the pathetic effort that was Oceans twelve. The only reason it's not quite as bad as Oceans 12 is because you don't have Mark Ruffalo pretending to be Mark Ruffalo to advance the plot... Instead you have Mark Ruffalo's character investigating himself.

Yes... I know... that's technically a spoiler, but trust me when I tell you that knowing that does not make the movie worse or better... It simply tells you that perhaps you should avoid this movie, or watch it with the complete expectation that at the end you'll go 'What the feck was that piece of shite I just saw'   :)

I've not see 'Lucy' and I had no intention of watching it at the cinema nor will it be purchased... I will however watch it at some point by other means.

The very second I saw the tagline about people only using '10% of their brains' I laughed... I mean seriously... after this myth has been debunked for decades, and the only people I've met who still believe this crap are in someway 'challenged'... Either in education or gullibility... Once that tagline was out there I wrote the movie of as a joke. When I saw the trailer and that line is repeated, and then they put it on the poster itself... I confirmed that the movie was a pile of trash not worth seeing. From what others have said, my opinion stands as correct.   :)

Neighbours is on my list of movies to watch when I'm in the mood for a comedy starring Rogen... which isn't very often these days.

Cuban Fury... not heard anything about that one... So I might give it a look.

I'm sure you're pleased to know that they are working on a sequel to Now You See Me.

I'll give you that the plot and most of the tricks are a stretch from reality but at least they created a set of rules and stuck with them. It may not be completely believable but that's only because we perceive the "world" as our own.

I have no problem with movies having unreal "rules". But nothing annoys me more then when they then break their own rules.

But that's my whole point... they broke their own rules... the whole investigating side of the plot is a joke, the perceived antagonist is nothing of the sort the writers/director is simply pulling an 'Oceans 12' thus rendering the entire plot ridiculous and pointless. If you take out that element of the story, all you are left with is the side plot about framing the guy who reveals the illusionists tricks. The tricks them selves are entertaining enough and not a problem for me.

It's an entertaining film to a certain degree, and lifted above being an absolute waste of time only by the choice of cast and the acting... But when taken as a whole with flaws and strengths balanced out... it's only worth a 4/10 from me.  The end reveal (or shock twist) was unexpected... but rather than leaving me thinking 'oh wow, they certainly fooled me' I was left thinking... 'WTF... that's the most ridiculous thing I've seen since Oceans 12'

I'll watch the sequel no doubt, but if they pull a similar stunt again... I'll find the writer and make him eat their fecking script.   :)   :)

lol at hunting down the writers.

To me, making an implausible plot is not breaking their own rules. For a prime example of breaking your own rules see Edge of Tomorrow. lol.

Anyways, just watched Thumbsucker. It's a good coming of age story. Well cast, good acting (except Keanu "I can only play myself" Reeves). I find these types of movies usually don't have anything revolutionary in them so don't expect to be blown away. It's way more on the drama side then the comedic side so don't expect Juno or Little Miss Sunshine.

Most descriptions talk about this teenage boy trying to rid himself of his addiction to sucking his thumb but I don't think they really watched the movie. The movie is really about a teenage boy growing up during the course of his senior year. He needs to learn who he is and how to interact with his family and friends. The thumb sucking aspect of the movie is just one of the things that he is dealing with.

p.s. Got to love a modern day movie that shows a doctor (ok, he's a dentist) smocking in his office with a patient in the room. rofl

To me the plot is everything... if it fails in that aspect, then the entire movie is a failure to me... and I entirely agree about Edge of Tomorrow... a stinker of a movie plotwise.

I too like quirky indie films, that are heavy on dialogue and fun... which is why I'm such a Kevin Smith fan I guess.. I've a whole list of charming films that I highly recommend to people looking for something different.

I've just watched How to Train Your Dragon 2, and whilst not as good as the original. It's a very entertaining family movie all the same. The plot whilst predictable, is fairly well thought out with no really unexpected twists. The voice acting is excellent all round and the visuals are superb... a decent way to spend a 100 mins of your time.

I cant even remember the film.. I fell asleep !

I fall asleep far too often during a film... Mainly because I find it difficult to get to sleep without some kind of noise in the background. So 99% of the time I put a movie on to watch, often I get no more than a 20-30 mins in before I doze off... Once the movie ends, the screensaver kicks in after a minute, and the TV will shut down shortly afterwards. So there's nothing to keep me awake and I don't have the sound up loud, often just the subtitles (if I've got them).

Sometimes It will take me several days to watch a film because I keep getting partway through before I fall asleep... I have dozens and dozens of movies that I've seen the first half 20 times, and the end of it... perhaps twice.  :)

This is why my traktv history is littered with crappy films at odd times of the night, I only put on films that I've seen before if I know I've going to try and sleep.

I do that with Podcasts :D

It can take me a week to listen all the way to the end of the Wittertainment podcast.

I've got films that I've never finished... but I can't remember which ones. It's one of the reasons I use trakt... So I can see what movie I started to watch the night before... because sometimes I fall asleep before the opening credits have even finished.

Other times... I spend longer trying to find something to watch than I do actually watching it.   :)

Hey guys!

Check out:

Cinema sins

How it should have ended

Honest trailers

On youtube

I watched them all, and they are sooo right, and quite entertaining.

I was going to ask the hosts if I could somehow create a channel for media browser of them all, but it would mean hosting each channel myself because it is youtube.

@@Redshirt you gotta watch the "Part 2: Transformers Age of Extinction" Cinema Sins. They F#%$&n' hate that movie!

Micheal Bay! Explosions!... More Explosions!... and then some more explosions!!!!!

Even his name explodes on the screen. Hilarious: Micheal Bay... Ka-Boom!

If there is one kind of movie I can't stand, it is re-boots that just absolutely destroy any childhood memory I have of After School/Saturday morning cartoons.

On a side not: I see that "Taken 3" is ready to come out...

At first I thought: You can't be serious! TAKEN 3!  How the hell is Taken 3 even produced?!?  But, I am a sucker for action movies (like Die Hard, I love me some Die Hard...), and I also love Liam Neason.

Taken 3 looks like I'm going to watch it, and maybe even sadly... love it!

The movie looks like a great action plot! Just enough one-liners to keep me happy, and Liam Neason being freakin' awesome!!
