Hello,

is it possible to create a collection and add movies by something besides title?  Say, I wanted to collect all movies by Paramount, or all movies with Clive Owen.

Right now, the only option I see is "name"

Thanks!

You can add anything you want to a collection.  I'm not sure to what option you are referring...

I meant that when adding to a collection (new or existing), the only way to add a movie seems to be by title.  Let's say I create a collection called "Marvel Movies".  Without using something like the Auto-box sets plugin, how do I add all the movies from "Marvel Studios" to this collection in one step?  All I can see to do is to add all the "Iron Man" movies and then look for the "Thor" movies and add them, and so on.

Is is possible that in addition to the "Titles" above, there is some other wayy of adding items?

Like say, if "name" above was a field that could change to "Studio" or "actor" ?

Since Actors and Studios are searchable the web client already gives you that information.  Other clients may work as well.

One of your examples search Clive Owen,  search Studios does the same.

To make a custom collection, you have to select each one of those movies via add to collection then name it to whatever you want.

That may be the problem... I do not see those bottom four buttons at all.  Plus, I cannot see a way to select multiple movies at once from the movie list.

Click the "Check Mark" to display those options ensure you are in Movies.  Highlighted/Glowing in screen shot.

Thank you for your help, I see that and the four buttons now.  It means that I can choose an arbitrary number of movies to add to an arbitrary collection from the movies page. I still cannot add movies by actor:

As pressing the blue "Movies" button does nothing (cursor spins for a bit and that's it) and the only thing that pops up for options is a refresh menu

The same thing happens from the studio screen.

Looking at this from a UI perspecitve, if I click the "Collections" button and then can edit or add one, I'd like to be able to add moveis by any creiteria on that screen, not just by title only.  Failing that, the method you describe above for clicking the glowing checkmark is great, but that only appears, again, on the titles and not for actors, sutdios, et cetera.  I see I can filter by year, genre, rating, and so on to limit the list of movies that way, which is great... I can then add those to a collection... but there's no way of doing that with actors or studios that I can see.

Thanks again!

Sounds like we just need an "Add to collection" option in the menu just like the "Add to Playlist" one that is there now.

That would work just fine... place that for the actors and the studios, and it would be great.  Even better would be the ability to add multple movies (so, if I find Clive Owen in 11 movies as per the screen shot above, it would be nice to be able to select all the movies at once and then add to a collection).  In other words, the checkmark button that is availalbe on the movies screen could be on the results screen for actors, studios, et cetera.

Also, if you has the ability to create a collection and then do a search for anything other than titles, that would be cool because it makes sense to have the ability on that US screen as well.

Yes, most of that would be good to have.

Ultimately, however, what you are trying to achieve will be addressed much better with Smart Playlists (a planned feature).
