Today we're pleased to announce immediate availability of an all-new version of our Android app.

Live TV

Live TV has been a hotly requested feature for Android. Now you can manage and watch Live TV directly from the Android app. Among the features are:

  • View listings per channel
  • Manage and delete recordings both per show and per series
  • Watch live TV

Supports the Latest Server Features

  • Your user profile audio & language preference settings
  • WebP image delivery for faster navigation
  • The latest transcoding API
  • Efficient text-based delivery of subtitles

Channels

Channels are now fully supported, bringing Podcasts, Vimeo, and the rest of the channel lineup to Android.

New Music Layouts

Music has been revamped from the ground up. Some of the highlights are:

  • A new background audio player
  • Artist views
  • Album views
  • Music genre views
  • Play all features
  • Instant mix playback

Visual Improvements

Nearly every screen has been revamped. Thumbs are now used to provide an extra splash of color and character. Latest media items on the home screen are grouped appropriately by series or albums.

Remote Control

Now Chromecast and other Media Browser apps are managed through a common layout. Whether you play to Chromecast, DLNA, or another Media Browser app, the look and feel is the same. At the bottom you'll have a nice mini controller so the remote control is never out of reach.

Playlists

Server playlist support is also included in this new version. Also local media queuing has been revamped. The play queue is fully interactive, and you can drag to reorganize what's playing, or drag-right to remove items.

Users will need to re-enter their connection values. Apologies, but necessary due to the changes in connectivity

The app will be available on Google Play in the next few hours, and in the next few days on the Amazon store.

I think something huge has forgotten, I couldn't find sorting option for movie libraries. How can I sort movies based on date released, date added, duration etc. (Note3)

I already tried that because I felt it should be something like that :) But I was keep hitting to A-Z Sort Letters. Now tried it again with more cautious , it works.

I thing dragging skills is not strong with this one -which is me- :)

Red, this release is incredible! It's very well designed and so far I haven't encountered a single bug on my android devices. I'd say the wait was worth it :-)

Now I can watch soccer (via VPN) while I'm at the library ... not getting stuff done ^^

I cannot see the live tv option on my android client. I am logged in with user that has live tv rights.

What a fantastic surprise when I woke up this morning.

What an amazing update.

I laughed at the WHATS NEW page in the Play Store - A few fixes.  :)  What an understatement!

Just one thing, is there a way to re-order the items in the slide out menu to be the same as in the server, or have I missed something in the setup? I have got used to having Live TV displayed just below Home

Sorry to be so picky.

I'm so happy with how everything just works on my Nexus 7, I can't wait to show my brother when he return from overseas. I've been trying to get him to change to Media Browser for ages. :)

Open a new topic in the android section so I can troubleshoot it more easily.

I may have overlooked it. I'll add it to the to-do list.

Nvm, ServerWMC crashed from the server side which is happening quite often lately....

I found a bug.

When a useraccount is "hidden from login screen", that user cannot login. It states credentials are incorrect.

Sorry, this is not Android related but similar behavior occurs when I attempt to login "manually" using MBC (hidden user). Once I un-hide the user, I am able to login by selecting that user and typing in the same password. Just an observation which might be related?
